Chapter 7
Shen Jiarui, who was sitting next to her, changed her posture slightly, facing slightly sideways towards her, and put her head against the car window.
It really makes things difficult for the people in the car.
Xu Jiangshu, who was driving in front, broke the awkward and silent atmosphere in the car, “Comrade, I don’t know your name yet.”
Wow…this gentle and handsome guy is such a thoughtful and kind person.
“My name is Yu Huai.”
Xu Jiangshu smiled softly at the people in the rearview mirror. “My name is Xu Jiangshu. The one behind me is my cousin, Shen Jiarui. We are from Lin’an City.”
“This time I came to Qingping County, mainly to pick up my cousin who is going to Lin’an City to attend university. I guess it’s fate.”
“My sister is so amazing because she goes to school in Lin’an City.”
From the memories originally retained by this body, we know that Lin’an City is the capital. At this time, the college entrance examination has been resumed, and there are no private universities. The universities in Lin’an City are all very valuable.
Shen Jiarui smiled shyly. Just then, a strand of hair fell from her head. She raised her hand to tuck it behind her ear. The moment she looked over, she looked lively and pure, like a mountain forest shrouded in morning mist, with a faint haziness. Even a tough girl like Yu Huai would be fascinated by her.
Xu Jiangshu smiled and said, “You are quite impressive. You have such advanced medical skills at such a young age.”
“I happen to know a little bit.”
Mr. Xu said, “Comrade Xiao Yu, you are being modest. I feel very relaxed now, without any of the discomfort I felt just now.”
As they chatted, the car arrived smoothly at Yunzhou City. Yu Huai got off the car and looked at Xizhou curiously. Big cities are really different. They are much bigger than Qingping County and there are many people. People come and go on 28-inch bicycles. There are also some cars, all of which are imported cars.
It’s a lively scene.
Xu Jiangshu also opened the car door and got out, took the package out of the trunk and held it in his hand. “Do you know where your relatives live? Otherwise, I can drive you there.”
Yu Huai observed Xi Zhou to see if he had any place to stay, and then he said casually, “How can a poor relative like me be the first to ask for money? I have to wait until my uncle comes out of the house alone.”
She snatched her large package from Xu Jiangshu and waved at him, “Thank you for bringing me here. The old man is vomiting and having diarrhea. Let’s find a place to drink some water and eat something light. Don’t eat greasy food for the next few days.”
After saying that, Yu Huai picked up the big package and walked away.
Xu Jiangshu licked his lips and didn’t repeat the words he had given her. It was just a chance encounter, so why add any more ties?
Shen Jiarui poked her head out of the car, looked at Yu Huai’s back and sighed slightly, “Sister Yu Huai is so pitiful. She came here alone, and in the end she can’t go to her relatives directly.”
He turned around and flicked her head. “Then why did you turn your back on me in the car, afraid that others wouldn’t see your disgusted gesture?”
Shen Jiarui stuck out her tongue. “But… it’s a bit choking. I don’t want to be so rude.”
On the other side of the street, a Toyota Crown was parked by the roadside. The man in a neatly tailored suit inside the car withdrew his gaze, gently turning the ring on his knuckle with his hand. It was unknown what he was thinking on his face. The contours of his face became more and more obvious in the places where the sunlight could not reach. He curled his lips slightly, raised his hand and waved lightly. The driver waiting in the front seat immediately started the car, and the car drove out smoothly, leaving only the exhaust fumes along the way.
Yu Huai stood on the main road, looked around, and for a moment he really didn’t know where to go. He walked along the road and found a simple public toilet. Thinking about the smell of people being fumigated in the car, Yu Huai immediately went to the bathroom with the big package on his back.
After washing his face and changing into relatively clean clothes, Yu Huai finally saw his current appearance clearly.
She was thin, with dry hair and an oval face. She looked somewhat like her original appearance, but only 50% similar. Her appearance could only be described as pretty, but there seemed to be fire burning in her phoenix eyes.
Yu Huai made a heart gesture to himself in the mirror. The little girl looked very energetic after getting dressed up.
Carrying the big package, Yu Huai set out again. This time, he took a deep breath and mustered up the courage to walk into the hotel.
Less than five minutes later, Yu Huai rolled out again in disgrace. She took a deep breath and looked up at the clear blue sky to cheer herself up. It was just a temporary lack of a place to stay. Hadn’t she gotten through these past few days like this? Once she found a job and a place where she could get a black certificate, she would definitely be able to get better slowly.
After drinking a few sips of inspirational chicken soup, Yu Huai walked around the curb with the big package on her back, and finally she found a suitable place to camp.
Yu Huai climbed down into the archway between the two bridges. The space inside was quite large. The wind was leaking from the west side, but there was something blocking the wind above his head. There were also several small tents made of torn plastic sheets inside. Because it was far away, he didn’t know if there was anyone there.
Yu Huai chose a place near the corner, put down the big package, and carried the money and her needle with her. There was nothing else important, but Yu Huai also tied a knife around her waist. She knew the fate of a young girl wandering alone. She would either be bullied or humiliated.
I opened the meat buns I had bought on the road and was eating them when I heard rustling sounds coming from a plastic shed about ten meters ahead. Soon a little boy about seven or eight years old walked out from the plastic sheet. He yawned and looked at Yu Huai, a new face, curiously.
Then a man with a limp came out. He looked to be in his fifties. He held the little boy’s hand and followed the boy’s gaze towards Yu Huai, but he looked away after just one glance. The two of them walked past Yu Huai from a distance. As they walked away, the little boy licked his lips greedily and coughed a few times.
Yu Huai munched on a bun and stared at the man’s legs for a while. After just a moment, she could basically conclude that the man had knee osteoarthritis, a very common degenerative disease caused either by trauma or excessive exertion when young.
As for this little boy…Yu Huai is not sure what is causing his cough.
