Silken Rain Gently Falls Towards the South Maple Chapter 2

Chapter 2: Nan Feng

Xia Beier said with a mysterious look, “Do you guys know who he is?”

“Who?” Guan Shuang joined in, curious.

“Nan Feng! You have no idea how cool he was playing basketball just now. A whole crowd of girls was screaming for him.”

Hearing this, Yin Siyu quietly added, “And then, you joined in the excitement too, didn’t you?”

Xie Jing chimed in, “Xia Beier might be exaggerating a bit, but Nan Feng really is quite handsome.”

Guan Shuang frowned, deep in thought. “Wait, the name Nan Feng sounds familiar… Where have I heard it before…”

After a few seconds, Guan Shuang slapped her forehead excitedly. “You guys! Don’t you remember? The top student who was famous across the whole school during our freshman year? That was Nan Feng! Who knew he was not only smart but also so good-looking?”

Xia Xiaobei nodded in agreement. “I was surprised too when I heard, but he’s seriously so handsome. I heard he’s a junior now, majoring in finance. Super aloof, and no girlfriend—zero scandals.”

Yin Siyu couldn’t help but laugh at their fangirling. “Alright, that’s enough.” So far, she still thought her older brother was the most handsome guy she’d ever met. Could Nan Feng really compare? Probably not.

With Yin Siyu’s interruption, everyone went back to their own business.

For Yin Siyu, who had already finished writing her self-reflection, it was now happy hour.

She opened her laptop and turned on the camera, starting her livestream. Her streams were usually about roasting people, and oddly enough, her fans loved hearing her do it.

Even though her words sounded like insults, she managed to shut people down without using a single swear word, leaving her fans fuming but speechless.

Take the other day, for example. When Yin Siyu was still living at home, a fan noticed her luxurious home decor and asked, “Is your family rich?”

Yin Siyu replied casually, “Not really.” That alone would’ve been fine, but then she added, “Because there’s not enough space at home to keep all the money—it’s all in the bank.”

Fan: I’m dead…………

Yin Siyu sometimes streamed games too, but her skills were… well… terrible. Whenever she played, her fans became extra active, roasting her for being great at talking smack but terrible at gaming. Yet, she remained blissfully confident. So, Yin Siyu streamed purely for fun and to be herself.

Her streaming alias was “Yu Liang” (Rain Cool). She had gotten into livestreaming around her second semester of freshman year and now had a sizable following—nearly a million fans.

Plugging in her earphones, Yin Siyu opened the gaming stream interface, and her fans immediately lit up the chat.

Fan 1: Wow, the Rain Cool Goddess is live!

Fan 2: Is she gonna play a game?

Fan 3: Oh no, the Game Killer strikes again!

…………

After being KO’d for the tenth time, Yin Siyu suddenly blurted out, “I’m done. How dare you keep standing there KO’ing me after beating me so many times?”

Fans internally: (ω) It’s clearly your own terrible skills, yet you blame others!

Yin Siyu closed the game window, turned the camera back to herself, made a playful silly face, and then greeted her fans.

The camera’s field of view was actually quite narrow, only capturing herself, so there was no fear of revealing her location.

Yin Siyu: “I came to school today and am now in the dorm. Why are you all so quiet today? Ugh, today’s just not my day—even gaming is giving me a hard time.”

Fan 1: “Goddess, do you go to our school?”

Fan 2: “How could someone as beautiful as you have a bad day?”

Fan 3: “I feel like you look familiar somehow…”

Fan 4: “The person above must be delusional!”

Fan 5: “Yeah~”

Fan 3: “No, seriously, you really resemble a girl I saw in French class today. She was having a rough day too…”

…

Seeing this, Yin Siyu immediately panicked. Since she wore makeup and used filters during her livestreams, her appearance differed slightly from her bare-faced everyday look—though it wasn’t obvious unless someone looked closely. She quickly tried to deflect: “What do you mean I look like someone else? That’s like saying you don’t resemble your own parents!”

Fan 3: “Did I just get randomly roasted? I only said there was a slight resemblance! But this attitude is definitely not the same.”

Yin Siyu: “If you don’t know how to talk, then don’t talk at all. I’m in a bad mood—stream’s over!”

Fans: “…This little princess has quite the temper, but she’s so adorable. We’ll forgive her for the sake of her goddess-tier looks.”

Truthfully, Yin Siyu had stopped streaming out of nervousness. She’d kept her identity hidden well so far, never letting her classmates recognize her, and she couldn’t afford to be exposed now. She still had plenty of livestream dominance to enjoy.

A pleasant ringtone sounded, and Yin Siyu instinctively glanced at her phone, breaking into a smile before answering. “Bro.”

“It’s this late—why aren’t you asleep yet?” A deep, soothing voice came through the line.

Yin Siyu checked the time. “Bro, you’re the one calling me right now, and you’re asking why I’m not asleep?”

Yin Baiyu chuckled. “Just testing you. I was worried you’d pulled another all-nighter.”

“Bro, I have class tomorrow! Why would I stay up late? Don’t worry, I’m about to go to bed,” Yin Siyu assured him.

“Really? Then explain why you stayed up late this morning—your first day of school, which was pretty important,” Yin Baiyu countered bluntly.

“Bro, that was because—”

“Never mind, don’t bother explaining. I don’t want to hear it. Just don’t stay up late again, or you’ll face the consequences next time I catch you.”

Yin Siyu knew when to quit. “Fine, no more late nights. You should get some rest too, Bro.”

“Mhm.”

A moment later, her phone buzzed. When she opened it, she saw her brother had sent her a red envelope—10,000 yuan—along with a note: “For your allowance.”

Yin Siyu hugged her phone, grinning like a fool. Ah, having a great brother really made all the difference. She could wake up laughing from dreams like this.

Then, with newfound generosity, she announced to her three roommates, “I’ve got money now—dinner’s on me tomorrow!”

The three roommates: What’s going on??? And why is she smiling so dopey? Did writing that self-reflection essay break her brain or something?
