Chapter 4: The Forum Post
“Why are you back so late today, Missy?” Guan Shuang asked while munching on a cucumber and applying a face mask, clearly fishing for gossip.
Seeing that Yin Siyu remained indifferent and showed no intention of answering, Guan Shuang added, “Sweetie, you’re famous now, you know?”
Yin Siyu still looked utterly confused, so Guan Shuang sighed and pulled out her phone, showing a forum post she and Nan Feng had clicked on. “Here, spill it. When did you meet Nan Feng? You hid it so well—even I didn’t know!”
The two photos posted on the forum showed Yin Siyu sitting with Nan Feng in the library and the two of them leaving together at night. However, her face was blurry, likely recognizable only to close friends like Guan Shuang.
The post titles read: “Academic Star Nan Suspected to Be in Love,” “Academic Star Nan Falls from Grace,” “*_* Mysterious Girlfriend,” and so on. The photos alone were enough to spark wild speculation, but the reality was the complete opposite!
“I only found out his name was Nan Feng today. I didn’t even know him before,” Yin Siyu explained, recounting the entire day’s events, including the particularly awkward moments.
After hearing about Yin Siyu’s embarrassing antics in the library, Guan Shuang couldn’t help but exclaim, “Wait, you actually sat next to Academic Star Nan on your own? And you blocked his way out for the whole afternoon? Tell me honestly—did he do anything to you?”
“No, he was actually really nice.”
“How is that possible?” Guan Shuang muttered while scrolling through the forum. “Look, here’s the last girl who dared to sit next to Academic Star Nan. He turned ice-cold, radiating such a chilling aura that she immediately got up and left. Since then, no one’s dared to sit beside him. But his popularity hasn’t waned—if anything, it’s grown. He’s practically a legend now. Are you sure you didn’t meet an imposter today?”
Yin Siyu studied the photos on Guan Shuang’s phone and nodded. “It’s definitely him.” That face was too handsome to forget! No wonder the library had been packed, yet no one sat near Nan Feng—and those strange looks she’d gotten.
“Could Academic Star Nan have taken a liking to you? Otherwise, his behavior is just too bizarre,” Guan Shuang mused, flashing a cryptic smile that sent shivers down Yin Siyu’s spine.
Yin Siyu shook her head. “What are you talking about? I just met Senior Nan today—you’re overthinking it! Go on, mind your own business.”
“Fair point, but I’m still curious. Maybe Academic Star Nan’s changed. There’s an 80% chance of that,” Guan Shuang muttered to herself, finally settling on a somewhat plausible explanation.
The dorm might have quieted down, but the forum was buzzing nonstop.
1st floor: What’s happened to my idol?
2nd floor: This must be photoshopped! There’s no way he’d let a girl get close. He’s famously indifferent to women—a god who’ll forever remain untouchable.
3rd floor: Am I the only one curious about who this girl is?
4th floor: What’s there to be curious about? I’d never believe our idol would have a woman by his side.
5th floor: Third floor speaks the truth. I saw the girl in the library—she’s quite pretty.
6th floor: Fifth floor, care to share who you are? Can you post a close-up of the girl next to our idol? Let us see for ourselves.
6th floor (same user): Uh… I didn’t take any photos.
7th floor: *disdainful emoji*
Sixth Floor: No, I really saw it! I even doubted if the male god was fake or not?
Eighth Floor: Pics or it didn’t happen.
Sixth Floor: It’s real! [Sorry, you have been blocked.]
Sixth Floor: Crying but no tears (;︵;`) [Sorry, you have been blocked.]
…………………………
The big incident ended in absurdity due to the lack of a clear photo of the girl.
When Yin Siyu woke up in the morning, she felt a bit guilty. After checking the forum and realizing she hadn’t been exposed, she patted her chest to calm herself down. Thankfully, the photo was blurry—otherwise, even if nothing had happened between her and Nan Feng, she would’ve been doxxed to death by the forum users sooner or later.
But was Nan Feng really as aloof as the forum made him out to be? She felt like he was nothing like what they described.
Oh well, it wasn’t like they’d have any more interactions in the future anyway. No point overthinking it.
…………………………
“Hey, isn’t this the male lead of our forum scandal? Did you really change your ways? Who’s the lucky girl?” Peng Wenyu smirked at the person who had just pushed the door open.
At his words, the previously noisy dorm fell completely silent. All three roommates perked up their ears, waiting for Nan Feng’s response.
Hearing the remark, Nan Feng didn’t answer. Instead, he fixed Peng Wenyu with a cold, piercing glare that carried an undeniable pressure.
Unable to withstand the stare, Peng Wenyu quickly surrendered. “Feng-ge, my bad. How could I joke about this? It must’ve been a case of mistaken identity by the forum users. I’ll delete the post right now—just wait.”
“Don’t delete it.” Nan Feng withdrew his gaze and pulled out a chair to sit down.
“Huh?” Peng Wenyu wondered if he’d misheard.
Nan Feng never repeated himself. Peng Wenyu shot questioning looks at the other two roommates, Ding Sheng and Jiang Zhen.
Ding Sheng leaned in and whispered, “Feng-ge said not to delete it.” Seeing this, Jiang Zhen also nodded in confirmation.
Peng Wenyu swallowed hard. He really couldn’t figure out what Feng-ge was thinking.
