Chapter 11: Dinner or Jealousy
When Guan Shuang heard that Yin Siyu had also bought a ticket for Tao Qiye, she immediately gave her a big bear hug. “Bestie, I haven’t spoiled you for nothing. Love you to bits~”
Yin Siyu handed the two tickets to Guan Shuang and kept the remaining one, planning to give it to Su Shaonian when she had the chance.
*
During French class, Yin Siyu had already taken her seat early when suddenly, a dark figure appeared beside her. She looked up and saw Su Shaonian.
Yin Siyu waved at him, signaling for him to sit down. “Su Shaonian, there’s a Jay Chou concert this weekend. Are you going? I’ve already bought the ticket.”
“You bought it so quickly? You’re being so nice to me?” Su Shaonian was a little surprised.
Truth be told, all of them had been big fans of Jay Chou since childhood and loved collecting his albums.
Yin Siyu handed him the ticket. “Of course. You’ve been looking out for me since freshman year. Buying you a ticket is nothing.”
“So, does that mean I should treat you even better?” Su Shaonian teased.
“No need, no need. You’re already more than good enough to me.”
Su Shaonian gazed tenderly at the girl before him. In truth, even if he gave her everything he had, he would have no regrets.
The two chatted idly for a while until the teacher entered the classroom, at which point they fell silent and focused on the lecture.
After class, it was almost lunchtime. Su Shaonian suggested eating out, and though Yin Siyu initially refused, she eventually gave in when he insisted.
By noon, the streets near the school were bustling with students coming and going. The area was lined with snack stalls, all doing brisk business.
As the two walked into the snack street, taking in the variety of options, Su Shaonian instinctively asked, “Yin Siyu, what would you like to eat?”
Her eyes scanned the stalls before settling on one. “Let’s have Hot and Sour Noodles. Sour and spicy—just thinking about it makes my mouth water.”
Amused by her eager expression, Su Shaonian smirked and indulged her wish, leading her to a seat. He also bought two drinks and a cup of yogurt.
Yin Siyu looked at the items on the table and couldn’t help but ask, “Su Shaonian, why did you buy so many drinks?”
“The drinks are for now, during the meal. And don’t you always drink a cup of yogurt half an hour after eating? I remember yogurt is your favorite.”
Yin Siyu was taken aback by how well Su Shaonian knew her habits, feeling slightly awkward. “You didn’t have to buy it. My brother brought me some last time, and I haven’t finished it yet.”
“It’s just a cup of yogurt. No need to be so polite,” Su Shaonian joked.
“Su Shaonian, you…” Yin Siyu wanted to clarify their relationship—this kind of situation was sometimes really awkward. “Fine, you’re such a close friend. How could I refuse? Right?”
Hearing the word “friend,” Su Shaonian felt a pang of bitterness. He knew Yin Siyu was avoiding him, but he didn’t want to just be friends. He wanted something more intimate. For now, all he could do was find opportunities to get closer to her—there was no other way.
Su Shaonian didn’t respond, and the air grew heavy, breaths slowing as if he were steeling himself to say something.
“Yin Siyu.” A deep, pleasant voice broke the tension, and both of them instinctively turned toward the source.
At that moment, Yin Siyu was immensely grateful for the interruption—otherwise, things would have gotten unbearably awkward.
A tall and upright boy stood not far away, his clean and fair face revealing a cold, angular handsomeness. With thick eyebrows, a high-bridged nose, and deep black eyes that shimmered with an enchanting hue, he appeared to be around twenty years old. His perfectly shaped lips exuded an air of nobility and strength.
Yin Siyu stood up and called out to the boy in the distance, “Senior Nan, are you here to eat too?”
“Yeah, just finished and taking a stroll. Saw someone familiar, so I thought I’d say hello.” Nan Feng walked over, responding softly, but his gaze lingered on someone behind the girl. “Who’s this?”
“Oh, this is my friend Su Shaonian. Like me, he’s majoring in French.”
Then, pointing at Nan Feng, she introduced him to Su Shaonian, “This is Senior Nan Feng.”
“Yeah, I know him. Someone this famous—his photos are everywhere. Hard not to recognize him.” Su Shaonian met Nan Feng’s gaze frankly, sizing him up in return.
“Heh, Yin Siyu, seems both of us are pretty well-known, huh?” Nan Feng stared at Yin Siyu, a meaningful smile playing on his lips.
Yin Siyu blushed at the memory, lowering her head as her eyes flickered uneasily.
“Getting shy now, huh? Alright, I’ll stop.” Nan Feng reached out and ruffled Yin Siyu’s hair, his gesture somewhat intimate. “You two haven’t eaten yet, right? Go ahead. I’ll head back to campus first.”
Before leaving, Nan Feng cast one last glance at Su Shaonian, his eyes dark and unreadable.
The Hot and Sour Noodles were ready, and the shop owner called out several times before the two snapped out of their thoughts and sat down to eat.
Su Shaonian, mulling over Nan Feng’s words and the intimate gesture, couldn’t hold back. “What did Nan Feng mean just now?”
Yin Siyu took a sip of her drink, hesitating before answering. “Promise you won’t laugh at me if I tell you?”
Su Shaonian nodded blankly.
“Well, that photo posted on the forum last time—it was of the two of us. Though mine was a bit blurry. Otherwise, I’d probably have been doxxed by now.”
“So, you two are close?”
Yin Siyu looked bewildered. “Us? Close? No way! We just know each other and said hello. But from what I’ve seen these past few days, he’s not as hard to get along with as people online make him out to be.”
Su Shaonian didn’t press further, but a thought had already formed in his mind. Nan Feng’s actions toward Yin Siyu had made his intentions clear—especially since he’d always kept his distance from girls before. Was Nan Feng challenging him?

In the dormitory.
Yin Siyu sat at her desk, reviewing files on her laptop, when she felt someone’s gaze fixed on her. Seizing the moment, she suddenly turned around and locked eyes with Xia Beier’s conflicted expression.
“Xia Beier, if you have something to say, just say it.” Yin Siyu swiveled her chair to face her directly.
Xia Beier clutched her clothes tightly, speaking haltingly, “I saw Su Shaonian go out to eat with you today. He even walked you back to the dorm. Are you two… together now?”
Taking in Xia Beier’s expression, Yin Siyu had expected something serious, but burst out laughing at her words. “You like Su Shaonian, don’t you? Don’t worry, we’re just friends. Today was purely about grabbing a meal.”
Xia Beier’s cheeks flushed as if her secret had been exposed. “I don’t like him. I just think he’s handsome and does well in school, so I pay a little attention to him.”
“Oh~” Yin Siyu deliberately drew out her tone and paused for a few seconds, “Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone. Su Shaonian is quite good, but you should make your move soon.”
Xia Beier: “………………” This conversation was going nowhere.
Nan Feng was getting jealous! Hehe~
