Chapter 52: Task to Expand New Guests
Jianglin Hotel was now fully booked. Anyone who wasn’t a hotel guest had to leave within two hours.
Song Chengjun, worried that someone might suddenly be expelled, returned to Jianglin Hotel. He bought a few more temperature-regulating suits, stocked up on some food, and then went to wait at Building 2.
Once everyone had received their identity cards and all the hotel rooms were completely booked, he quickly organized them to leave Jianglin Hotel.
Fortunately, a portion of the road between Jianglin Hotel and the B City Safe Base had already been constructed. Walking along this section, they didn’t need to worry about zombie attacks, except for a small unfinished part in the middle.
Some who had wanted to stay at the hotel were initially reluctant to leave, but once they realized that non-guests could only stay for two hours a day, they had no choice but to follow Song Chengjun and the others out of Jianglin Hotel.
At midnight, after Chu Jiangyang confirmed that everyone was asleep, he placed the office hall and then returned to Chu Jiangyue’s cabin.
Without anyone knowing, the office hall had been built right in front of the small cabin.
This made it convenient for guests to handle various hotel services.
And at the moment, Chu Jiangyang was the only official hotel employee.
The next morning, early-rising guests saw the newly built structure and could only marvel in their hearts—Boss Chu had worked her magic again.
With the temperature-regulating suits, Chu Jiangyue’s working hours returned to 10 AM to 6 PM.
When the guests got up, Chu Jiangyue was still in bed.
However, Chu Jiangyang, being a robot, had already started work early.
Curious, the guests entered the office hall. Seeing Chu Jiangyang in a suit, looking exactly like a butler from a TV drama, they were all surprised.
“You are…”
There weren’t many residents in Buildings 1 and 2. Guests had crossed paths before, but they were sure they had never seen this person.
“Good morning. I’m the hotel’s newly hired butler. You may call me Butler Chu.”
Same surname as Boss Chu? Could it be nepotism?
Had they known Boss Chu was hiring, they would have been eager to serve.
But Chu Jiangyue hadn’t posted any recruitment notices. Even if they envied Chu Jiangyang’s job, there was nothing they could do.
“Oh, the new butler. What’s this building for? It doesn’t look like a place for guests to stay.”
This building bore no resemblance to Buildings 1 or 2.
“This is the office hall. Any hotel services you need, you’ll come here for.”
“Is exchanging coins and handling lodging procedures done here?”
Exchanging coins and handling lodging was currently the most complex and busy operation at Jianglin Hotel.
Chu Jiangyang nodded: “Yes.”
“What else can be done here?”
If it was just moving items from Buildings 1 and 2, there wouldn’t be a need for such a large office hall.
“Guests can explore on their own.”
Chu Jiangyang didn’t give a detailed answer, leaving the guests to figure it out themselves.
The guests were left speechless.
Finding nothing interesting, they left the office hall one by one.
When Shen Zhigui and his group exited Building 1, they saw the office hall.
“This is…”
Overnight, a new building had appeared—it was truly Boss Chu’s style.
“Let’s go check it out.”
Since it was a newly built hotel facility, it was probably useful. Perhaps they could even find some surprises.
Seeing more people arrive, Chu Jiangyang smiled and greeted them again.
“Boss Chu’s new hire? If I had known…”
Before Su Zhucheng could finish, Shen Zhigui tapped the back of his head.
“Don’t think about it. Since Boss Chu didn’t post any notice, this job probably wasn’t meant for any of us.”
Compared to Su Zhucheng’s stubbornness, Jiang He was much wiser.
After touring the office hall, they left.
With the temperature-regulating suits, they now traveled during the day instead of at night.
They still had to go out later, but for now, it was breakfast time.
[Task issued: Host to expand new guests for Jianglin Hotel (0/1000). Task reward: Locked]
At 10 AM, just as Chu Jiangyue was about to go out, she received a new task.
This “expand new guests” task—she wasn’t sure to what extent she was supposed to expand.
The system gave no answers. Asking the little fox also yielded no help—Chu Jiangyue would have to figure it out herself.
Chu Jiangyue: …Might as well have said nothing.
At the office hall, only the robot Chu Jiangyang was present.
“How’s work? Getting used to it?”
Chu Jiangyue asked casually.
“Very accustomed, Boss… You need not worry.”
Chu Jiangyang was a management-type robot. Assigning him to the office hall was somewhat overqualified, but at the moment, it was the only position available.
“There’s also a mango tree. When you have time, plant it next to the random fruit tree.”
Chu Jiangyue had been using her wood-type psychic ability to nurture the random fruit tree, and it was about to bloom again.
“Understood.”
As an employee rewarded by the hotel, Chu Jiangyang had certain permissions and could take items from Chu Jiangyue’s system backpack.
Having told him about the mango tree, Chu Jiangyang knew the permissions were granted.
After giving him instructions, Chu Jiangyue began thinking about what expanding new guests actually meant.
The area around Jianglin Hotel was no longer an option—survivors had already moved in.
Since nearby areas were unavailable, Chu Jiangyue shifted her attention to the B City Safe Base.
“Not sure if the safety passage is completed. If I go to B City Safe Base through it, it would undoubtedly be the safest and fastest route.”
Chu Jiangyue was decisive. If she thought of something, she acted on it.
After telling Chu Jiangyang, she contacted Song Chengjun.
Song Chengjun, who had just left Jianglin Hotel with a group of teachers and students yesterday, didn’t expect to hear from Chu Jiangyue.
Seeing that she cared about the construction progress of the safety passage, he was even more puzzled.
He still reported the progress to her. Telling her minor details didn’t hurt, especially if it helped maintain a good relationship.
Seeing that progress was less than one-third complete, Chu Jiangyue felt slightly disappointed.
B City Safe Base was far from Jianglin Hotel. She didn’t want to suffer hunger and exposure along the way.
“Do I still have to go find survivors outside?”
Chu Jiangyue found the recent tasks increasingly strange.
1,000 new guests—where am I supposed to find them?
The little fox sat quietly on her shoulder, trying not to make a sound to reduce its presence.
After much thought, Chu Jiangyue decided to go out and try her luck.
She would treat it as a way to exercise her psychic ability.
