Rebirth in the Apocalypse: My Hotel Supplies Are Endless Chapter 61

Chapter 61 Mutated Tiger Attack

Hearing that it was Chu Jiangyue who had rescued them, Ren Jie was even more surprised.

Wasn’t this woman the type who normally never left Jianglin Hotel? Why had she been going out so frequently these past two days?

And every time, she brought survivors back.

Ren Jie’s gaze shifted to Fu Tong and the mother-and-son pair.

“So it was Boss Chu who saved them. Once we reach the base, I’ll make sure to keep an extra eye on them.”

Since Chu Jiangyue had rescued them, these people clearly had some favor with her. Ren Jie was happy to give Chu Jiangyue a little face.

“No need, just arrange things normally. We can take care of ourselves.”

Ye Mei knew Ren Jie wanted to use their connection to curry favor with Chu Jiangyue. She was grateful to Chu Jiangyue for saving her life, but she didn’t want to make things difficult for her.

“Aunt Ye is right. We don’t need special treatment.”

Although Fu Tong felt some dependence on Chu Jiangyue, she understood that she had no real ties with her and didn’t want to cause her trouble.

Being refused twice in a row, Ren Jie was a little surprised, but he didn’t push further.

After all, it was just a casual thought—if it worked, all the better. If not, he lost nothing.

Compared with Song Chengjun, Ren Jie came off as much more worldly and smooth.

At that moment, Chu Jiangyue finally remembered who this Ren Jie was—

In her previous life, after she reached the B City Safe Base, this man became the new commander of the base’s patrol division.

But she couldn’t figure out why. Somehow, Ren Jie had taken the position that should have belonged to Song Chengjun.

Because she remembered clearly—in her last life, when she arrived at the B City Safe Base, there was no longer anyone named Song Chengjun there.

No one ever mentioned his name either, as if it had become some sort of taboo.

Unfortunately, with Little Fox’s plot display broken, she couldn’t see anything now and had no way of knowing what role Ren Jie was supposed to play in the storyline.

Chu Jiangyue quietly observed Ren Jie for a moment before slowly withdrawing her gaze. She then turned to Shen Zhigui and the others.

“Let’s go.”

Fu Tong and Ye Mei, along with the child, obediently followed behind Chu Jiangyue and Shen Zhigui’s group, not even bothering to check if Ren Jie came along.

Shen Zhigui had been paying close attention to Chu Jiangyue’s every move. Earlier, when she had looked at Ren Jie, he caught the tiny frown, followed by her brow relaxing again.

Such micro-expressions didn’t escape his notice.

Judging by her reaction, there was likely something off about Ren Jie.

But since Chu Jiangyue didn’t speak, he didn’t ask.

If there really was an issue, Shen Zhigui trusted that Chu Jiangyue wouldn’t simply ignore it.

The group left Jianglin Hotel and soon arrived at the entrance of the safe passage nearby.

It was an eight-lane passageway in total. The B City Safe Base had invested heavily in constructing it.

Chu Jiangyue activated navigation again, choosing the silver SUV.

“Get in.”

After saying that, she moved to open the driver’s door.

“Why don’t we drive, Boss Chu? You pick whichever seat you like.”

Chu Jiangyue didn’t argue and graciously gave up the driver’s seat, settling into the one behind it.

The fact that using navigation granted access to vehicles had already spread through Jianglin Hotel.

But unlike Chu Jiangyue, others had to pay by the hour to use them.

It was even more expensive than renting electric bikes, though far more convenient since you didn’t need to park.

As for Ye Mei’s group, they were technically under Ren Jie’s charge. Since Ren Jie’s people had originally come from B City Safe Base, they already had vehicles and didn’t need to use navigation.

However, they didn’t have many cars, so everyone inside was crammed shoulder to shoulder.

In contrast, Chu Jiangyue and Shen Zhigui’s silver SUV was spacious and comfortable—it was like night and day.

The silver SUV sped down the silver road, quickly pulling far ahead of Ren Jie’s convoy.

Still, since Ren Jie was from the base, he and his people would deliberately slow down at intervals to allow the others to catch up.

Their strategy was basically “go a bit, wait a bit.”

The journey was smooth—no zombies, no mutated animals or plants blocking their way.

But as they neared the end of this stretch, things suddenly turned less ideal.

“There’s fighting ahead. I also hear beast roars,” Su Zhucheng said gravely.

The sound of beasts meant the group ahead was being attacked by mutated animals.

If they were facing a pack of them, even the strongest ability users wouldn’t dare take them head-on.

They could only hope this time it wasn’t a group-hunting type.

Ren Jie’s convoy was still behind them and wouldn’t be able to catch up quickly.

Jiang He was driving, and when he heard Su Zhucheng’s words, he immediately accelerated.

When they reached the end of the road, everyone got out. Chu Jiangyue ended navigation, and the silver SUV vanished instantly.

The attackers were two mutated tigers, each more than twice the size of normal ones. Just the sight of them made Chu Jiangyue’s scalp tingle.

Several bodies already lay motionless across the battlefield.

Since Jiang He’s ability was spatial, Shen Zhigui told him to stay on standby at the side, in case an opportunity came for a sneak attack.

Jiang He didn’t want to hold the team back with another injury, so he agreed without complaint.

But the moment Shen Zhigui’s team of five entered the fray, the situation flipped completely.

Chu Jiangyue’s vine whip lashed with fierce power, each strike eliciting a shrill roar from the tigers.

Her heart clenched with pity.

“What did you people do to make them so determined to attack you?”

The more her whip landed, the more she noticed the tigers’ cries, and something felt off. She quickly turned and questioned the survivors who had been attacked earlier.

Looking at the dead on the ground, her expression darkened.

“Roar—!”

“Host, host! They stole the tiger parents’ cub!”

Chu Jiangyue couldn’t understand beast speech, but Little Fox could—and it immediately spilled the truth.

Fury flashed across her face. She swung her whip around and struck one of the survivors who had been hiding behind her.

“You stole their child? Getting mauled is exactly what you deserve!”

Didn’t they even think to check if they had the strength to pull this off before stealing?

Little Fox leapt from Chu Jiangyue’s shoulder, hopping toward a cloth bundle lying beside a pile of roadwork supplies.

But since it couldn’t touch anything except what belonged to Chu Jiangyue, all it could do was call out.

“Over here!”

Seizing the moment while Shen Zhigui’s group held off the two tigers, Chu Jiangyue dashed over to the bundle and opened it.

Inside was a small white tiger cub, its fur patterned black and white, with a pair of tiny fleshy wings sprouting from its back—wings that hadn’t yet fully formed.

Chu Jiangyue scooped the cub into her arms and gently infused it with her wood ability.

The little tiger slowly opened its eyes, golden like flowing sand—instantly piercing Chu Jiangyue’s heart with cuteness.
