Chapter 269: Can’t Even Qualify as a Substitute (5th Update)

“I just turned fourteen this year.”

“Oh, and what are you best at?” Liu Churan pressed, not batting an eyelid. Ye Wenxin suddenly felt Fairy Fengya’s actions at the Immortal Sect Grand Tournament had thrown her a lifeline.

“This junior specializes in swordsmanship.”

“Well, the person I’m looking for can’t use any weapons.”

Once again, there came a questioning from the soul, but Ye Wenxin had already confirmed that all her flaws and thoughts were completely exposed.

However, because of a certain incident that happened in the Azure Wings Sect, Liu Churan had a preconceived notion that the person in front of her, who bore a slight resemblance, wasn’t actually Demon Lord Gu Qingcheng.

Ye Wenxin felt a mix of sorrow and joy, hoping Liu Churan would quickly end this interrogation. She then heard Liu Churan speak in a very subtle tone, “Is that Fairy Fengya really as extraordinary as the legends say?”

The matter of Fairy Fengya competing with Jin Xiaoqin for disciples was already known throughout the world, so naturally, Liu Churan was also aware.

Faced with Liu Churan’s loaded question, Ye Wenxin still put on an infatuated expression and said, “She is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Unfortunately, Fairy Fengya is not suited to taking on disciples. She had a previous disciple whom she never taught, which is why I chose my current master.”

Liu Churan seemed to have no doubts about Ye Wenxin anymore. “You are quite pragmatic,” she said with a laugh, then slowly extended her foot, pretending to be flirtatious.

Ye Wenxin, who had begun to relax a bit, became tense again due to Liu Churan’s sudden action. According to her script, Ye Wenxin had to crawl forward and act like a sycophant, and Liu Churan would undoubtedly kick her away.

But if she didn’t do it, Ye Wenxin would appear too dignified, completely unlike the scumbag Madam Yu had described.

Looking at Liu Churan’s feet, which were perfect and flawlessly white, Ye Wenxin thought that even if she licked them, it would be worth it.

She lowered herself and moved closer to Liu Churan, intending to hold that foot in her hands. However, Liu Churan didn’t let her touch it at all, pulling her foot back in disgust and saying coldly, “Indeed, you don’t even qualify as a substitute.”

Initially, Liu Churan had thought Ye Wenxin bore some resemblance and could be toyed with, but now Liu Churan found herself too disgusted with her.

Ye Wenxin showed an embarrassed expression, but inside, she was overjoyed. However, she also realized she had lost something important. Still, if it meant gaining more freedom, she felt it was worth it, and she desperately followed Liu Churan, apologizing.

Seeing that she had gotten her answers, Liu Churan lost interest. She quickly stood up, looked at the bed she had once used, and thought about the lingering fragrance on it. She smiled mischievously.

“However, since you behaved well, I’ll leave this bed for you to enjoy,” she said, then quietly left. Ye Wenxin was puzzled by her words. Curious, she approached the bed and smelled the lingering fragrance.

The scent had an aphrodisiacal effect, leaving Ye Wenxin with mixed feelings. Confirming that Liu Churan had left, she decided to burn the bedsheets.

But just as she was about to pick it up, the figure that was supposed to have left, reappeared.

“What are you trying to do?” Liu Churan looked slightly surprised. She remembered there was a question she hadn’t asked yet, but when she returned, she caught Ye Wenxin with the bedding over her shoulder, looking like she was about to run away.

“Ahem, I’ve been feeling a bit heated lately. I’ll enjoy the warm, soft bed another time.” Ye Wenxin, without retracting her hands, placed the bedding into her bag of holding, looking utterly captivated.

Liu Churan seemed to resonate with this and continued, “Then you’d better store it in a separate bag of holding. If stored properly, you can use it several times.”

Ye Wenxin’s body trembled. She felt that Liu Churan was too familiar with this, as if she often did such terrifying things with Ye Wenxin’s belongings without her knowing. Ye Wenxin didn’t have the courage to ask, as Liu Churan had already sat down in a chair.

With her beautiful legs crossed, she exuded the air of an aristocratic lady, yet she was as alluring as a fox spirit capable of bringing calamity to the world.

Liu Churan was naturally seductive, but because she always prioritized matters concerning the Demon Lord, her ranking on the Unparalleled Beauties List wasn’t as high as the Demon Lord’s.

“What else do you need, Miss Liu?”

“Oh, I forgot to ask earlier; where were you when the Demon Lord arrived that day?” Liu Churan’s tone suggested that she already knew the full story.

Ye Wenxin knew this was a major flaw in her story, so she had no choice but to bring up Madam Yu. “For that, you’d be better off asking Madam Yu.”

“Is that so?” Liu Churan smiled and took a few steps closer to Ye Wenxin, helping to arrange her hair. She continued, “I may be heartless towards my sister, but Ni Ni is our precious one. It’s best if you love her. If not, get lost, before it’s too late.”

Her voice remained seductive, but it was filled with threats. Ye Wenxin hurriedly responded, “Of course, I know my place. I will leave tomorrow.”

“Hehehe…”

Liu Churan finally smiled, gently touching Ye Wenxin’s face with her fingertip before disappearing once more.

Ye Wenxin carefully confirmed that Liu Churan had indeed left this time, and couldn’t help but mutter to herself, “She was so much cuter when she was young; now she’s completely a vixen.”

She sighed, looked at her now-empty bed, and thought for a moment. Eventually, she decided to put the bedding back on and enjoy the delightful gift Liu Churan had left her.

However, Ye Wenxin had nightmares all night. She dreamt of Madam Yu and Liu Churan serving her, dreamt of Qiao Ni suddenly saying they were missing one for a game and asking her to join, and most disturbingly, dreamt of Madam Yu telling her with a complicated expression:

“Demon Lord, Ni Ni is our daughter.” (TL: Aiyaa, just a dream?)

Ye Wenxin awoke from the nightmare, angrily throwing the quilt Liu Churan had lain on to the floor.

“What kind of ridiculous plot is this?” she muttered to herself. Self-deprecatingly, she lay back down but felt cold, so she picked up the quilt again, deciding to make do with it for the night.

However, the events from her dream began to replay once more…

The next day, as dawn broke, an exhausted Ye Wenxin got up eagerly. She left a letter for Qiao Ni on the table before preparing to return to the relay station.

Although Green Isle was nice, it wasn’t a place Ye Wenxin wished to stay. She opened the door, intending to enjoy the fresh morning air, only to see Qiao Ni outside, smiling at her.

Ye Wenxin felt a sense of dread, and seeing Madam Yu in the distance only made her headache worse. She opened her mouth and managed to force a smile. “Don’t tell me you were pretending to sleep last night.”

Qiao Ni smiled brightly. “I wanted to see if you and Mother would do anything after I fell asleep.”

Such innocent words made Ye Wenxin start questioning her life again. She couldn’t figure out who Madam Yu’s lover could be to have such a quirky and mischievous daughter.
