“Believing books blindly is worse than having no books at all. Blindly trusting feng shui is worse than not believing in it. Those without skills rely on feng shui to thrive, while those with skills can nurture feng shui.”
Wu Ma didn’t quite understand Yu Ning’s words, but she thought they were impressive.
“Don’t keep such creepy things in Brother Lin’s room! Throw it out!” Jia Qingqing didn’t care about feng shui; she just wanted to oppose Yu Ning.
“You, don’t stand there. Move to the side.” Yu Ning’s serious tone made Jia Qingqing break out in a familiar cold sweat.
She quickly took two steps to the side, nervously glancing around.
“Is there something dirty behind me?”
“No, it’s you who is dirty. You’re standing in President Lin’s wealth position, and your filthy aura will ruin his feng shui.”
“!!!” Jia Qingqing felt deeply humiliated.
Wu Ma, however, was alarmed. Ruining the young master’s feng shui? That wouldn’t do!
Chase her out, quickly!
Jia Qingqing was half-pushed out by Wu Ma, cursing as she went downstairs. After seeing Wu Ma return to the room, she secretly came back.
She took a bamboo basket out of her bag and opened the lid, revealing a sleeping mollusk.
Jia Qingqing displayed a wicked smile.
She had bought this at a high price. When it woke up, it would surely scare that bumpkin to death!
She placed the bamboo basket behind a decoration in the corridor, ensuring it wouldn’t be discovered, and then hummed a song as she went downstairs.
Wu Ma intended to see if there was anything she needed to help tidy up.
But she found that Yu Ning was efficient and did everything herself, quickly finishing up.
Wu Ma tried to chat with her, and Yu Ning, unexpectedly approachable, answered all her questions without any airs.
This made Wu Ma very happy. She felt that if the young master woke up, he would surely like this straightforward and sincere girl—much better than his ex-girlfriend!
Yu Ning also had a good impression of Wu Ma, not only because she was righteous and kind-hearted, but also because her facial features revealed her kind nature. However, Wu Ma’s offerings were a bit too varied.
Seeing no immediate harm, Yu Ning didn’t mention it.
After Wu Ma left, Yu Ning offered her master’s jar, burned incense, and calmed her mind. She meditated daily with her master’s accompaniment.
The little black cat woke up in its warm bed. Recognizing the familiar room, it perked up immediately.
From its perspective, it saw Yu Ning meditating. It was stunned.
Amid the incense smoke, the girl sat cross-legged on the bed, bathed in the glow of the setting sun, exuding an aura of transcendence—if not for the strange sound coming from her phone.
Yu Ning’s phone was playing in a stiff, mechanical voice:
“Woman, put out the fire you started yourself!—You have finished all the updated chapters. The author is working hard on the next ones.”
The black cat was silent.
Was she… meditating while listening to a web novel?!
Yu Ning opened her eyes and saw the little black cat sitting up. She got up, picked it up, and placed it on the bed.
“You’re awake. I’ll prepare some food for you after I finish my evening practice. Just wait a bit.”
With that, she changed the book and continued playing, the familiar mechanical female voice reading aloud:
“Playing ‘The Big Boss’s 99-Day Pursuit’ Chapter 1: Woman, Get On Top and Move Yourself.”
The black cat’s eyes widened. Get on top for what?!
It didn’t sound proper at all!
And indeed, it wasn’t.
She played it at double speed, each chapter taking just three minutes, making the black cat’s head spin.
What nonsense was this?!
Do all young girls listen to such strange things these days?
After the chapter finished, Yu Ning checked the time and decided it was enough. She turned off the player, ending her arduous meditation session.
She reached out to stroke the black cat’s head, finding the texture unexpectedly pleasant, and held it close to her chest.
The black cat stiffened as she gently petted its head, talking to herself:
“My master wanted me to live like an ordinary girl: reading novels, raising a pet, playing games—oh, I haven’t played today’s game yet.”
She placed the cat on her lap, maintaining her meditation posture, and seriously opened a game.
“Timi~~~”
The black cat’s expression was blank. It felt like she misunderstood her master’s intentions.
Her master probably wanted her to enjoy life like a normal person.
This girl treated it like a task, completing it meticulously.
Seeing her so serious about everything, the black cat seemed to understand why her master gave her such an order.
It thought its life was dull, but hers was even duller.
When it wasn’t busy, it would play golf or exercise.
How did this delicate-looking young girl live with the mindset of a sixty-year-old at twenty?
No, even sixty-year-old grannies danced in public squares.
She wouldn’t be dancing when she got old, would she?
So, saving it was probably following her master’s orders. Her master told her to raise a pet, and she really did.
Fortunately, her master didn’t leave instructions like “keep walking and never look back.” Otherwise, with her determination, she might walk to the ends of the earth.
How did she manage to be both young and so kind-hearted?
The little black cat sat on her lap, thinking seriously, while Yu Ning played her game with equal seriousness. The scene was unexpectedly harmonious.
Finally, Yu Ning won the game, silently reported the cursing opponent, and completed her meditation for the day. She let out a long breath.
“The life of an ordinary girl is really tough. My master is harsh, making me stabilize my Dao heart in this way. These boring tasks indeed train one’s temperament.”
“…” The black cat’s face was expressionless. Are you sure your master thought that?
After finishing her evening practice, Yu Ning held the little cat and looked for some cat food.
The little thing wouldn’t eat at all, puzzling Yu Ning.
“I bought the most expensive food. Why won’t you eat? Let me call Third Senior Brother; he’s a doctor by profession.”
The call connected quickly, and a young male voice came through.
“Master Aunt, Master’s surgery isn’t over yet. What’s the matter?”
“I have a cat, and it won’t eat cat food. What should I do?”
“Master Aunt! You have a cat?” The other party seemed excited, as if hearing extraordinary news.
“Yes, it’s a—”
Yu Ning suddenly realized she didn’t know if it was male or female.
She moved its tail aside.
The black cat bristled, struggling vigorously.
If cats could blush, it would be beet red now.
With the anatomy like a colon… is it female or male?
Yu Ning pondered, the colon should mean female, right?
“It’s a girl.”
“Meow!!!!”
She didn’t understand cat language, but the cursing sounded harsh.
