Chapter 8: The Billion-Dollar Estate Follows
Ye Siran knew that breaking her engagement with He Hongwen wouldn’t be easy, so she didn’t dare make a scene.
Her greatest fear was that Uncle He would rather compensate Ye Ruyue than let her marry He Hongwen, since the two of them had matched their fates and signed a marriage contract long ago.
Now, her father had not only given her the family’s entire fortune but also promised to help her secure the necessary paperwork to move to the countryside, so she finally felt at ease.
As for Uncle He, she would leave that to her stepfather and birth mother to handle; she could only act according to the situation.
In her previous life, everyone caught her together with He Hongwen, and they had chosen an auspicious day to marry without any disputes.
She had been eagerly hoping to marry the one she truly loved, and when that wish came true, she was naturally overjoyed.
But reality had slapped her one blow after another; thinking back now, it was all tears!
She placed the wooden box in her hand on the desk, went to the door and bolted it, then quickly took off an inconspicuous pendant from her neck.
It looked like a mix of jade and stone, plain and grayish, which was why Ye Ruyue hadn’t snatched it.
Without hesitation, Ye Siran bit her finger, letting drop after drop of blood fall onto the pendant.
After about ten drops, a white light flashed, and she was transported into the space.
Oh my God!
Inside, the pigs she had raised in her previous life numbered in the tens of thousands, as did the chickens, with plenty of ducks and geese too.
Even the airborne villa she had lived in before dying was there—a villa she had casually wished to store in the space in her final moments. What an unexpected delight!
Just buying that villa had cost her 58 million, and its interior decoration and furniture over seven million.
In her previous life, one day her daughter had made her so angry that she vomited blood. That blood had stained the pendant, transporting her into a blank white space.
But at that time, she lacked nothing, so having a space was useless—it went unutilized for many years.
Later, her daughter and Ye Ruyue’s son went abroad to study, and her husband, due to work, took Ye Ruyue everywhere.
Countless lonely days later, she remembered the space and discovered it could grow vegetables, raise pigs, chickens, and geese.
Eventually, her foster daughter insisted on marrying her biological son, and her good husband consented. At that point, she had lost all hope.
She even began thinking about divorcing He Hongwen, gradually converting the billion-dollar estate into food and supplies stored in the space, planning to travel the world alone.
Before she could do any of that, He Hongwen had enraged her to death. In her final moments, she had even muttered about storing the villa in the space.
Now, reborn, she knew her pendant was a spatial talisman. She had assumed, as in her previous life, that it would be an empty space.
She never dreamed it would contain supplies—and all her previous life’s assets.
Ye Siran looked at the fully stocked space and laughed from the heart. Her mind finally felt at ease.
She placed all the money and tickets from the wooden box on the coffee table in the villa’s living room, intending to organize them later.
She quickly replenished the pig trough, fed the chickens, ducks, and geese.
After leaving the space, she glanced at her stepfather’s and birth mother’s room. Compared to the good things from her previous life, the items here no longer impressed her.
Since they were useless, she wouldn’t destroy them for now—after all, she hadn’t left this house yet.
Just as she opened the door, she heard Ye Weiguo shouting, “Second sister, Dad, Mom, and Uncle He are calling you! What are you hiding in your room for?”
Seeing that Ye Siran didn’t respond, he commanded sharply, “When Uncle He comes in, he’ll scold our eldest sister for being shameless. Dad and Mom won’t say a word. You go out and make sure Hongwen goes to her.”
“Do you think Uncle He will listen to me?” Ye Siran asked her half-brother, her eyes fixed on him.
“Everyone in the compound knows Uncle He dotes on you the most. If you say something, he’ll agree.”
“Fine. I’ll say it as you asked. But if he doesn’t agree, don’t blame me,” Ye Siran said obediently. In her previous life, Uncle He had truly spoiled her without limits.
He had even promised to find her someone better, but she had been ungrateful, obsessed with He Hongwen as if under a spell.
“Ye family’s eldest daughter still has the face to cry? Do you think we’re all fools?” The low, thunderous voice of Father He echoed through the living room.
“Uncle He, Aunt He, Brother Hongwen is here.” Ye Siran lowered her head and greeted them as she approached.
“Ranran is here, come sit by Uncle He,” He Yongchang said gently, waving to Ye Siran, his anger subsiding.
“Thank you, Uncle He,” Ye Siran murmured and slowly walked over.
“Ranran, I only recognize you as my second daughter-in-law. Don’t think you can marry him just because they’ve started a relationship, even if it’s already overcooked rice!”
“Director He, Ranran just told me she doesn’t want to marry Hong—” her father’s words were interrupted by He Yongchang.
“Ye Jianping, we all know whether Ranran doesn’t want to marry Hongwen or you forced her. We’re not blind.”
“Uncle He… sniff… since you look down on Ruyue so much, I might as well die.” Ye Ruyue sobbed, shaking.
“If you want to die, go ahead. If not, shut up. If you try to cheat my son, I’ll make sure you rot in prison. Want to test that?”
He Yongchang’s firm tone made Ye Ruyue furious, but guilty, she didn’t dare speak or cry.
She feared evidence of her attempted poisoning would be found, and the rest of her life would be spent behind bars.
Ye Ruyue’s mother was always tough on the weak but cowardly against the strong, so she didn’t dare scold her daughter in front of He Yongchang.
Ye Siran’s father glanced at her subtly, signaling: I’ve given you all my property; help your sister.
With a trembling voice, Ye Siran said, “If Uncle He truly loves Ranran, please let my sister marry Brother Hongwen!”
“Ranran, you don’t like Hongwen?” He Yongchang’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Uncle He, do you want the truth?” Ye Siran looked him in the eye, her clear gaze no longer timid.
He Yongchang was surprised by the change in this girl—she had been pushed so hard!
He glared at his son, then turned to Ye Siran and, softening his expression, said kindly, “Yes, I want the truth.”
“Until today, I did like Brother Hongwen. But when I saw him with my sister… I didn’t want to marry him anymore!”
She finished with a bitter smile, delicate as blossoms dusted with snow under a new moon. The sight made He Yongchang’s heart ache.
At his age, he understood that conditions mattered in a marriage, but mutual affection was most important. That made for a more tolerant, comfortable life. His second son had already declared he didn’t like Ranran.
Now Ranran herself said she didn’t want to marry him. Was there any point in forcing the marriage?
He Hongwen, hearing Ye Siran say she wouldn’t marry, looked shocked. He realized her gaze was now cold and distant.
Before, her eyes had sparkled with affection and warmth when looking at him. Now, they were unfamiliar.
