Chapter 2: The Mysterious Pattern
Putting down the test papers, Lin Yumo prepared to wash up. Standing in front of the sink, she stared blankly at the youthful face reflected in the mirror—one she hadn’t seen in a long time.
Her fifteen-year-old self still had a hint of baby fat on her cheeks, almond-shaped eyes glistening with moisture, and eyelashes that fluttered like tiny fans.
Her nose was delicately upturned, and her lips were pink and tender, like a freshly picked peach.
The only downside was her slightly dull complexion from late-night studying, with faint dark circles under her eyes.
“Hmm… I look like a little panda…” She poked her cheek, the softness making her pinch it a couple more times.
“Hair tie!”
With her mouth still full of toothpaste foam, she hurried back to her room, nearly slipping in the hallway.
Quickly steadying herself, she walked slowly toward the hair tie.
As Lin Yumo raised her arm to tie up her hair, she suddenly caught sight of something unusual on the inner side of her wrist—a small patch of white and green.
She paused, bringing her arm closer for a better look. It was a jasmine flower the size of a fingernail. The petals were a translucent milky white, and the stem was a tender green so fresh it seemed like it could be squeezed to release water. Even the delicate veins on the petals were as clear as if they had been meticulously painted. It lay quietly on her skin, like a freshly stamped seal.
“What is this?” She lightly tapped it with her fingertip. The texture felt no different from the surrounding skin—warm and soft. It wasn’t a sticker, nor did it seem drawn on.
Lin Yumo turned her arm over and over, frowning.
In her past life, she hadn’t even gotten her ears pierced, let alone a tattoo. Where had this little jasmine come from?
Sunlight slipped through the gap in the curtains, landing right on the tiny flower. The edges of the petals shimmered as if gilded, and suddenly, they trembled ever so slightly.
Lin Yumo jerked her hand back with a soft gasp.
D-Did that flower just move?
Cautiously, she reached out again, this time not daring to touch it. She hovered her finger in the air, gently waving it. When the little jasmine remained still, she let out a sigh of relief.
Maybe she had imagined it?
No, she was certain she hadn’t. The flower was definitely strange. She’d have to examine it more after breakfast.
But the flower was so well-behaved, its white-and-green hues matching her childhood nickname perfectly.
The longer Lin Yumo looked at it, the more familiar it felt. Her fingertip unconsciously brushed over the petals again, curiosity gradually replacing her initial surprise.
Whatever its origin, it was… quite pretty.
Once she was finally ready, Lin Yumo headed out. Wu Ma had already set breakfast on the table—a white porcelain bowl filled with millet porridge, accompanied by a plate of steamed dumplings.
There was also a small dish of pickled vegetables, vibrant green and appetizing.
Lin Yumo sat down at the table and picked up a spoon, taking a sip of the porridge. It was thick and velvety, melting in her mouth.
After breakfast, she felt a bit warm, tiny beads of sweat forming on her forehead.
She got up and walked to the fridge, intending to grab a yogurt to cool down.
As the fridge door swung open, a wave of cold air hit her, making her shiver.
Inside, everything was neatly arranged—fruits on the top shelf, milk and yogurt on the bottom.
Lin Yumo’s eyes scanned the contents, about to reach for a strawberry-flavored yogurt when her gaze was suddenly drawn to the jar of Dried Jasmine Flowers in the dry goods section.
The jar was transparent, the jasmine petals inside clearly visible—pale, tender, and pristine.
At that moment, she felt a slight movement from the “Little Jasmine” on her arm, like a tiny insect crawling beneath her skin, causing a ticklish sensation.
Immediately afterward, an intense craving welled up inside her—a strong desire to eat those Dried Jasmine Flowers.
Lin Yumo paused, looking down at the Little Jasmine on the inner side of her wrist. It remained as delicate and lovely as ever, with its white and green hues, utterly adorable.
She chuckled to herself, thinking how amusing it was that this Little Jasmine could “crave” something to eat.
She took out the jar of Dried Jasmine Flowers, then fetched her rabbit-patterned mug from the cupboard. Scooping a few spoonfuls of the dried flowers into the cup, she poured hot water over them.
The white petals slowly unfurled in the water, resembling tiny blooming jasmine flowers, their fragrance spreading through the air.
Carrying the cup, Lin Yumo returned to her room and sat at her desk, her fingertips lightly tracing the white-and-green jasmine-shaped birthmark on the inside of her wrist.
Sunlight fell on the birthmark, making the colors of the Little Jasmine appear even more vivid.
After finishing the cup of jasmine tea, the warm liquid slid down her throat, carrying a faint floral aroma—yet she didn’t feel any particularly unusual changes for now.
Lin Yumo blinked and looked down at her wrist, a hint of curiosity stirring in her heart.
What secret was hidden within this floral mark?
She pulled out a new notebook with a pale blue cover adorned with a starry sky pattern.
Her desk was cluttered with pens—some with tiny bells dangling from their caps, others wrapped in colorful ribbons, and some printed with various small animals.
After some deliberation, Lin Yumo finally picked up the one with a rabbit-shaped cap, finding it the most comfortable to hold.
She opened the notebook, lightly tapped the pen against the paper, then solemnly wrote down six words: “High School Transformation Plan.”
After writing, she gently blew on the ink, staring at the words for a long moment. Silently, she resolved to work hard over these three years and not repeat the regrets of her past life.
**High School Transformation Plan**
**First Item: Study Plan**
At A City’s No. 1 High School, where talented students were abundant, Lin Yumo’s science grades had long lingered in the middle of the class rankings. Even with Chinese and Mathematics propping up her overall score, it still wasn’t impressive.
This time, she would tackle her weak subjects one by one. Recalling her past high school years, Physics and English had been her weakest points compared to other subjects.

(Hello, dear readers! I realize that in the early stages, I didn’t handle the protagonist’s character and plot progression as well as I could have. Some might think that detailing each subject’s study process would feel like a tedious account, but I wanted to clearly depict the protagonist’s efforts in the beginning so that her later achievements would feel more believable.
Apart from the first monthly exam after her rebirth, which was described in detail, the rest were mostly glossed over.
I hope you can bear with me—I’ll keep working to improve!)
