“Enemy attack! Quick, quick, quick—everyone on guard, find cover!”
The young gang leader’s face turned pale the moment he heard the shell explode, but he quickly reacted and shouted for his men to be alert.
Before he could take any real action, boom—a shell exploded right at the warehouse entrance.
Shards of iron and bomb fragments scattered everywhere. The guards at the door didn’t even have time to react before they were all hit, collapsing to the ground in agony.
Immediately after, the second and third shells came raining down.
The warehouse had already been emptied out. With nothing inside to use as cover, the people inside tried to seize the chance to escape, only to find their way blocked by the firepower outside.
“Fuck!” the young leader cursed under his breath.
Outside, across an open ground of three hundred meters—
The motorcycle’s engine was still rumbling. Su You had already fired all five shells. The warehouse roof had been blown off, and the inside was a complete mess.
Even if the people inside weren’t dead, they’d be crippled.
Su You let out a cold laugh. “Think you can freeload off my goods? You should at least measure your own abilities first.”
Amber stood beside her, unprepared for the recoil of the mortar, which shook him.
But he looked exhilarated.
After all, just moments ago, he had been pushed to the brink of despair. Now, the hunter and prey had swapped roles.
The loud explosions soon drew the police over—someone had clearly called them.
Calmly, Su You packed away the mortar, jumped onto the modified motorcycle, and pulled on her helmet. “Let’s go.”
Amber followed right after, a sly smile flashing in his eyes.
“Big Sis You, I know where their main nest is. Those bastards turned on me and took my stuff—if they don’t lose a piece of their flesh, then I’m not Amber.”
Su You curved her lips into a faint smirk and steered the bike in the direction Amber pointed out.
Taking advantage of the dark night, the high winds, and the lack of guards, the two of them blew up the gang’s secret warehouse.
This time, Su You no longer bothered to hide things from Amber—she openly used her space ability to collect a huge stash of weapons, bullets, grenades, combat knives, and even a whole box of gold bars.
The only ones bleeding from this raid were that gang.
Su You, on the other hand, had the thrill of looting for free.
She had to admit—stealing from others felt damn good.
When the gang returned, they discovered their base had already been ransacked clean.
Being an underground group, even if they were in cahoots with the local police, they couldn’t investigate the theft openly.
They could more or less guess this was the fallout of today’s double-cross, but they had no choice other than to swallow their anger in silence.
Still, Su You was worried about retaliation. Without even boarding a plane, she used the base’s space channel to secretly return to Amber’s villa in his city that very night.
Amber hadn’t quite come down from the high of their wild raid—his face was flushed red. “Damn, Sis You, that was insane!”
He was still clutching a gun, pacing around the room because he couldn’t sit still.
Su You handed him a cup of hot tea to calm him down.
She herself looked much steadier, like someone long used to doing such things—not panicked in the slightest.
The faint fragrance of the tea reached his nose, and Amber finally started to settle.
For an ordinary person like him, tonight had been way too stimulating.
He had faced a life-or-death threat, taken down his betrayers’ hideout, and even witnessed a miraculous spatial teleportation.
This sequence of events was more thrilling than anything out of a superhero movie.
He even began to suspect that Su You’s “gaming streamer” identity was nothing more than a cover for her real, hidden status.
Amber’s heart pounded with excitement. If the apocalypse really came, Sis You not only knew about it in advance, but also hid her abilities so deeply—she was absolutely a big boss.
Su You didn’t realize it, but in Amber’s eyes, her image had already undergone a complete transformation.
At the same time, tonight’s events gave her a reminder: if she kept shopping in bulk here, people would eventually notice.
After raiding that gang’s base, she couldn’t rule out the possibility of revenge coming her way.
So she decided—once she received the batch of radios, wireless sets, satellite phones, and Starlink terminals tomorrow, she’d leave this country immediately.
The next day.
Snowr City, outskirts, a private high school.
The sky was bright and clear, the lawns lush and green.
During tennis class, Serena had just finished a set with her teammates. She returned to the shaded rest area, sat down, and began wiping sweat while sipping water.
Not far away, boys were running and competing fiercely on the basketball court. It was just another ordinary day.
Suddenly, one of her teammates gasped. “Oh my god, what’s going on? Are they fighting?”
Her phone was on loudspeaker, and from it came painful screams and chaotic noises.
The sound immediately drew the attention of those nearby. Serena, curious, also looked over.
The video on screen was shaky and blurry, but it was clear the person filming was inside the school infirmary.
In the center of the frame was a male student in uniform. He seemed to be suffering rabies-like symptoms—his eyes wild as he clamped down on a doctor’s arm, biting viciously like some feral beast.
Even when others tried to pull him away, the boy seemed numb to pain, sinking his teeth into the doctor’s neck and tearing off a chunk of flesh.
The doctor’s face twisted in agony. Blood gushed from his neck, staining his white coat, the scene resembling a brutal murder.
“Is that guy insane?”
“Maybe a dog bit him. Looks like rabies, makes people violent.”
“But it doesn’t seem like that. He looks completely gone—like he’s lost all humanity.”
“The doctor looks miserable. He didn’t pass out, did he?”
The crowd argued noisily. Serena felt uneasy as she watched further—
She saw that the doctor hadn’t passed out. Thirty seconds later, he suddenly stood up and lunged at the nearest medical staff member.
The video cut to black.
Everyone stared at each other in shock, until someone muttered, “Holy shit… could that be a zombie?”
Zombie?
The word instantly sent chills through the group—including Serena.
They’d all seen zombie disaster movies. Humans infected with an unknown virus lost their reason, craved flesh and blood, and turned into monsters that attacked their own kind.
The boy in the video, and the doctor he attacked, fit this pattern perfectly.
And the fact that the person filming hadn’t responded again… people started to wonder if he too had been killed.
A tall blonde girl, Anna, spoke up. “Maybe it’s just rabies. This video was posted in the school group chat—the principal must have seen it. He’ll investigate and give us an explanation. Besides, if we skip class today, the academic office will deduct our credits.”
Her words immediately calmed some of the crowd.
Anna was the daughter of a school board member, and she always defended the school’s reputation. Now she was stepping in to keep things under control.
But a tall boy with freckles on his cheeks, named Michael, stood up.
“This video’s been up for ten minutes already, and not a single teacher or staff member has come forward to deny it. That means they’ve lost contact. In this situation, I’m not going to follow your lead.”
He turned to Serena.
“Serena, are you leaving or not?”
