Doomsday Stockpiling: I Established a Global Survivor Base
Doomsday Stockpiling: I Established a Global Survivor Base Chapter 31 – Taking Action

When Li Xiannian heard Su You’s voice, he froze for a moment before saying to her:
“Miss Su, this is far too dangerous. You’re a guest—dealing with these uninvited intruders should be my responsibility.”

Su You flexed her wrist, gave Bason and his gang a cold smile, and said:
“It’s fine.”

Li Xiannian had originally wanted to refuse.

But for some reason, a sudden intuition struck him.

Su You might look ordinary, but she was absolutely not as simple as she appeared.

No one could have foreseen zombies appearing in Country A.

Yet half a month ago, Su You had already bought out his supermarket and pharmacy in Xia Nation. Former employees had said that after acquiring the licenses, she immediately ordered an enormous stockpile of goods, claiming she would reopen in a month with a new business model.

Looking at it now, with Country A in the midst of an infection crisis, Xia Nation would surely go into lockdown, tightening control over supplies. With her foresight in hoarding such a massive amount of goods, wouldn’t she make a fortune?

Add to that the fact that she had shown up here in Snowell City and even safely brought back his beloved granddaughter…

At this moment, Li Xiannian deeply realized that the “ordinary girl” before him was anything but ordinary.

Having thought it through, he nodded.
“Very well, Miss Su. Then I’ll leave this matter to you.”

Before leaving, he added:
“Until you’re safely aboard that helicopter, I will not leave on my own. You have my word.”

Su You had half a mind to tell him to go on ahead. She didn’t mind staying behind to slowly gather supplies—after all, a region descending into chaos was the perfect chance for free shopping.

But she wasn’t ready to expose her base yet, and she and Li Xiannian were barely acquaintances.

She couldn’t be sure what kind of man he truly was, and exposing the existence of her base carried risks.

Su You had no interest in inviting unnecessary trouble.

Still, since Li Xiannian had made his vow, she decided she might as well see if he was the sort of person who kept his word. In times of life-and-death crisis, one’s true character would always be revealed.

Bason’s group was armed with heavy-duty shotguns. Their spread was wide and their suppressive fire fierce, making it nearly impossible to get close.

Most of Li Xiannian’s men were already dead or injured. Only one bodyguard and an elderly maid remained, both wounded and unable to fight back.

Bason and his men were pressing deeper into the villa.

Su You weighed her options. If she exchanged shotgun fire with them directly, the results wouldn’t be good.

But time was running out—she could already hear the helicopter landing on the lawn.

It was time to test her newly developed spatial ability.

She had already overlapped the villa into her spatial dimension.

If she calculated the distance correctly and used the time difference between her base and the real world, she could approach and kill them unseen.

Of course, it was risky. But Su You didn’t mind trying.

“Boss, the old man’s gone!”

One of Bason’s men grew nervous when he couldn’t see Li Xiannian.

“After him,” Bason narrowed his eyes, finger tightening on the trigger.

Suddenly, every nerve in his body screamed danger. He instinctively shifted aside.

The very next instant, a shining bullet whizzed toward his forehead. He dodged in the nick of time, but the man behind him wasn’t so lucky—his head exploded on the spot.

Bason’s eyes widened in shock. He blindly fired his shotgun in the direction the bullet had come from.

Feathers from the sofa cushions flew everywhere, but there wasn’t even a shadow of an enemy in sight.

It was like seeing a ghost.

Where on earth had that bullet come from?

Bason and his remaining men huddled back-to-back, tense, terrified of being sniped from an unseen angle.

The villa fell silent, broken only by the churning of the helicopter blades outside and the distant moans of approaching zombies.

Su You’s first attempt had failed, but she wasn’t discouraged.

Bason’s reflexes were sharp, but the bullet had only grazed him; she herself wasn’t harmed at all.

She quickly came up with a faster, better plan.

A minute passed.

Bason and his men, though still wary, had not been attacked again.

Time ticked away.

One of his men grew restless.
“Boss, the helicopter might leave without us!”

Bason gritted his teeth. “We make a run for it.”

Just as they reached the back door of the villa, a bone-deep dread swept through Bason.

He tried to dodge—too late.

Out of thin air, a bomb appeared.

Bason opened his mouth to shout “Down!” but in the next second, his eyes went wide with horror as the explosion erupted in slow motion before him.

From the backyard, Su You heard the deafening blast as half the villa blew apart, leaving a massive gap in the structure.

She winced a little. That had been her property, after all.

But at least the Bason problem was solved.

No need to worry about survivors—with that much explosive, unless they were made of steel, not even their corpses would remain intact.

On the helipad, the helicopter’s massive blades whipped up a fierce gale.

Nearby, Serena’s classmates and members of the Li family’s staff—those chosen by Li Xiannian—were preparing to board.

“Grandfather, where’s Miss Su? Why isn’t she here?” Serena asked.

Li Xiannian had no intention of telling his granddaughter the truth.
“Miss Su has some matters to attend to. She’ll be along shortly.”

But Serena was sharp; she instantly grasped what was unsaid. Still, since her grandfather didn’t want to tell her, she kept silent.

As the line for boarding moved forward, a sudden chorus of zombie roars erupted from beyond the villa’s back fence. There were many of them. Fear spread quickly through the passengers, hastening their steps.

Then, at an unnoticed corner of the fence, part of it collapsed.

A swift zombie darted through the gap, charging straight at the group.

Herbert froze in terror, his legs giving way. In a panic, he shoved the female classmate in front of him—right into the zombie’s grasp.

“Help me!”

The girl had only time for a single scream before the zombie crushed her jaw and blood poured out.

Herbert shrieked and bolted toward the helicopter.
“Zombies! Zombies are here! I’m going first, I’m getting on the plane!”

Serena saw it all. Even though there were plenty of people behind Herbert, he had cowardly sacrificed his classmate.

She hardened her voice.
“Board in order—no exceptions.”

Herbert sobbed and shook his head violently.
“I don’t want to die! I don’t want to be eaten by zombies! I still have so much to do!”

Michael slapped him hard across the face, snarling:
“What did Emma do wrong? You pushed her to her death—why should she die for you?”

“Herbert, the one who deserves to die is you.”

Serena stayed silent, turning her eyes away. She raised her gun instead and fired at the zombies pouring in through the gap, just like the other servants.

It was her silent approval of Michael’s judgment.

Herbert’s despair was bottomless.
“I didn’t mean it! I just didn’t want to die! What did I do wrong?” he screamed, voice breaking.

But Michael only looked at him with bitter disappointment. This was, after all, a classmate he had fled with—and yet Herbert had revealed himself as utterly selfish.

“Miss Su is still risking her life to buy us time, and you’ve doomed one of our own instead.”

“Herbert, on this flight… you’re the only one who doesn’t deserve a seat.”
