Doomsday Stockpiling: I Established a Global Survivor Base Chapter 33 – Settlement Camp Outside the City

The next morning, with just one day left before the nuclear strike, Su You woke up early.

Unexpectedly, Li Xiannian was awake even earlier than her.

He leaned on a cane, walked into the tent with his old butler, looking surprisingly light-footed and full of smiles.

Selena had also woken up. When she saw him, she asked, “Grandpa, where did you go?”

Old Master Li reassured his granddaughter: “It’s nothing. Grandpa just went out for a short walk, asked around about when we’re leaving, and then came back.”

Only then did Selena relax.

“We can leave now?” she asked.

Li Xiannian nodded. “That’s right. As soon as we finish breakfast, we’ll leave. Your mother will be waiting for us on the Margarina.”

He then turned to Su You and asked, “Miss Su, will you be leaving with us?”

The light in the tent was dim, and he could only see Su You shaking her head. “No, sir. My companion and I are heading to another city.”

Li Xiannian nodded. “That’s fine too.”

After everything that had happened, he had realized Su You was no ordinary person. Naturally, she wouldn’t choose to stay with them.

Still, he insisted on exchanging contact information with her, saying that if she ever needed something, she could reach out anytime.

Su You arched a brow but didn’t refuse.

She had already gained some understanding of who Li Xiannian was.

He had built his fortune in the early years through export trade. In Country A, he ran a massive foundation and trust—so wealthy he was practically a nation unto himself.

Ordinary people in this settlement camp had to go through three days of quarantine and observation to ensure there was no danger before being allowed to leave.

For Li Xiannian to get permission to leave so quickly, he had clearly used some remarkable “money power.”

With Country A about to descend into chaos, Su You thought, having him as a buyer in the future would be no bad thing.

At the same time, she handed him a glossy black card. It had no text on either side, no information at all.

Puzzled, Li Xiannian asked, “Miss Su, what is this…?”

Su You curved her lips in a faint smile. “You’ll know what it’s for when the time comes.”

Seeing that she had no intention of explaining further, Li Xiannian, though full of doubts, carefully tucked it away.

He couldn’t shake the strange feeling that someday, he would definitely cross paths with this unusual girl again.

Soon, Li Xiannian and his group, escorted by a small squad, left the settlement camp smoothly.

Though they called it “guiding,” it was essentially an armed escort.

With a squad of soldiers carrying loaded rifles protecting them, they walked out of the settlement camp. Along the way, many displaced citizens watched.

These people had lost their former composure and refinement. Now they looked ragged, weary, carrying bits of food, water, and clothing, shuffling between fenced-off sections of the settlement divided by barbed wire.

When they saw a group of East Asians walking along the secure passageway, some cursed aloud, and a few even hurled themselves against the barbed wire, as though they wanted to tear them apart.

After all, even they weren’t allowed to leave the settlement, yet these East Asians were being escorted out—how could they not be furious?

But under the stern protection of the soldiers, the outbursts were quickly suppressed.

After all, facing these cold and heavily armed soldiers, everyone knew bullets were no joke.

Su You couldn’t help but guess this, too, was thanks to Li Xiannian’s money power.

After half an hour, they were made to undergo another physical inspection before finally being cleared to leave the settlement camp outside the city.

The process was somewhat tedious, but at least they made it out smoothly.

At the airport, Li Xiannian’s helicopter was still parked where it had been before.

This time, however, the fuel tank was full, enough to get them to the next city for refueling, and then continue onward until they reached the port city where the Margaret was docked. There, they would board the ship.

Once aboard, they would truly be safe.

Su You had already agreed with Li Xiannian—she and Amber would disembark at the next city, and then transfer to other transport back to Amber’s home city.

At the farewell, though, Selena seemed reluctant.

After all, Su You had saved her and her classmates. Suddenly parting ways left her with lingering unease.

Michael and another boy, too, waved repeatedly in excitement, bidding Su You an emotional goodbye when she got off the helicopter.

All in all, they left a strong impression on her.

After landing in the city, Su You and Amber didn’t stay long—they planned to split up.

After a night’s sleep, Amber still had dark circles under his eyes, but his mindset had adjusted quickly. He had already recovered his focus.

He planned to return to his own city and continue gathering supplies for Su You.

There, Su You had already set up overlapping space layers and space gates. If anything happened, Amber could contact her at once, without worrying about safety.

As for the coming zombie attacks, he had complete faith in Su You’s warnings.

He was willing to fully cooperate with her plans.

Using her spatial ability, Su You sent Amber back to his city. Then, inside her private base, she began gearing up.

Her outfit included: a black motorcycle helmet, wrist and leg guards, combat boots, and a streamlined black combat suit made of nanomaterials—insulated, sweat-absorbing, breathable, yet tough enough to resist any sharp weapon.

At her waist, she carried a short dagger and a pistol. Slung over her shoulder was a black carbine rifle, set to shotgun mode for close-range fire.

She also carried a backpack with food and water, purely for appearances.

Altogether, the load was heavy, but to Su You, whose physique had been enhanced, it was nothing.

She still felt agile enough to run, jump, and react quickly—ready to fight back against any threat.

After finishing her preparations, she ate some food to replenish her strength, checked everything once more, then took a deep breath and opened a spatial passage to Snowerr City.

Her eyes burned with resolve.

There was just over a day left before the nuclear strike on Snowerr City.

Inside the city, order had collapsed. The streets were filled with hordes of infected wandering aimlessly. A few survivors hid deep in buildings, hoping to endure this nightmare.

Although the authorities broadcast messages seeking survivors, announcing rescue team locations, and sent helicopters for urgent rescues…

…it was like a drop in the ocean. Progress was painfully slow, efficiency was low, and countless rescue teams had already lost their lives.

But after weighing costs and benefits, the authorities could only maintain the effort at its current level.

What the survivors didn’t know was that if they failed to reach the designated rescue zones and board helicopters within the next day and a half, then on the evening of the third day, they would see a massive nuclear bomb dropped onto the city.

The warhead would unleash the force of a million tons of TNT. The explosion would bring down nearly every building, turning the city into ruins.

And those survivors—just like the infected—would all perish.
