The second wisher?
Mo Qi stared at this line of text, frowning.
Everyone has wishes, big or small. In such a vast campus, wishes are countless. What criteria does the wishing box use to select wishers? Perhaps by answering this question, the wishers could be found.
And how does the wishing box allow the wishers to make their wishes? Does such a box actually exist, or does it appear in a vague and elusive form within the wisher’s mind?
There are too many questions. The next wisher has already begun their actions, and time is running a bit tight.
Based on the deaths of Ke Xiaoxi and Qi Qiaoyan, Mo Qi intuitively felt that the next wisher’s wish might also be related to life and blood. He couldn’t just sit and wait.
The only current clue was the cell phones of Ke Xiaoxi and Qi Qiaoyan, but both had set lock screen passwords.
Previously, while working in the student council office, Mo Qi had secretly checked the students’ electronic files and noted down the birthdays of both Ke Xiaoxi and Qi Qiaoyan, as well as the birthdays of their family members, including that of Guo Mingzheng, who was their boyfriend.
Despite repeatedly trying various combinations of these numbers, he couldn’t unlock the phones.
However, Qi Qiaoyan’s phone had fingerprint and facial recognition. Her body was still in the crevice of the rock garden. And since Qi Qiaoyan could unlock Ke Xiaoxi’s phone, it indicated that she knew Ke Xiaoxi’s lock screen password. Perhaps clues to the other password could be found in Qi Qiaoyan’s phone.
Returning to the rock garden might carry the risk of being discovered by other players, but Mo Qi couldn’t just stay stuck here.
Gritting his teeth, he quietly made his way to the rock garden under the cover of night.
As he approached, he saw a male student holding something that looked like a compass, intently searching for something.
It was already past 11 PM, and the dormitories at their school were locked at 11 PM. Any student wandering around outside at this hour was highly suspicious.
Fortunately, there were plenty of trees near the lake. Mo Qi hid behind a tree, slowing his breath, and began observing the boy, who was likely another player.
Coincidentally, Mo Qi recognized this boy. In the professional class this afternoon, there was a student named Xiang Zhuo who was retaking the course and hadn’t attended. Mo Qi had paid attention to his name.
Xiang Zhuo, a student a year ahead of him, had been attending classes with them for a semester already. Could he be a player?
Mo Qi had never fully understood what roles the players had in this world, but he couldn’t help but think that it was unlikely that all five players were originally from the school. Mo Qi, being labeled by the game as the “Task Initiator,” suggested that he indeed belonged to this campus, but the same might not be true for the other players.
Mo Qi only had a fragmented impression of Xiang Zhuo, vaguely remembering his face, name, and the fact that he was retaking a course. The rest was unclear.
But this didn’t make sense.
Mo Qi often borrowed notes and key points from upperclassmen to sell to his classmates and the underclassmen. He knew everyone in their major from freshman to senior year. How could he have only a simple impression of Xiang Zhuo?
Xiang Zhuo must not be a senior student. He was an inserted memory, a simple and pale background.
Unexpectedly, players could also have information implanted. Mo Qi wondered what kind of impression Xiang Zhuo had of him.
Xiang Zhuo held the compass, wandering around the rock garden. Sometimes he went to the lake, and other times he moved near the bushes. Once, he circled around a tree right next to Mo Qi, causing Mo Qi to break out in a cold sweat, fearing he would be discovered by Xiang Zhuo.
Fortunately, Xiang Zhuo’s attention was fully on the compass and he didn’t notice Mo Qi hiding in the shadow of the large tree. When Xiang Zhuo was very close, Mo Qi saw the compass’s needle glimmering with a faint silver light. As Xiang Zhuo moved, the needle rotated as well, but no matter how much it turned, it always pointed towards the rock garden.
However, Xiang Zhuo seemed oblivious to the needle, never once following its direction.
“Strange, according to the Clue Indicator, the wisher’s body should still be here. Why can’t I find it?” Xiang Zhuo muttered to himself, puzzled.
As expected, he was looking for Qi Qiaoyan’s body, and the compass in his hand was called the “Clue Indicator.” Could it also be a type of Item Card? Mo Qi frowned. The other players had too many special tools, leaving him, as a novice player, at a severe disadvantage.
Fortunately, Xiang Zhuo seemed to have some sort of vision problem, completely unable to see the compass needle. Despite wandering around for a long time, he still couldn’t find Qi Qiaoyan’s body. Mo Qi could only hope that this person would give up and leave soon.
“No, because of the negative effects of this Item Card, I’ve been wandering around lost,” Xiang Zhuo stopped, “I need to find someone to guide me.”
Hearing that Xiang Zhuo was planning to leave, Mo Qi pressed himself tightly against the tree, nervously waiting for him to go.
Just then, a small blade of grass stealthily wrapped around Mo Qi’s ankle. The grass blade, sharp as a knife, suddenly cut into his skin.
Even though he was unprepared, Mo Qi managed to stifle any sound. He looked down and grabbed the grass firmly, only to see that his foot was entangled by a tough, thin thread. Upon closer inspection, he realized that the grass blade that cut him was actually an elongated leaf growing from a slender grass vine creeping along the ground. There was no way to see where it originated.
Mo Qi frowned.
The “Charming aura” and “Gaze” skills function differently. According to the system’s description, the Charming aura disperses charm indiscriminately. Due to its widespread nature, it has minimal impact on individuals; entities like plants and animals wouldn’t develop affection for Mo Qi from such a small amount of charm. Only the “Gaze” skill, which focuses all charm value, would influence plants and animals.
With no one around, Mo Qi hadn’t used “Gaze.” How, then, could the small grass trigger the negative effects of “Gaze”?
Fortunately, even if the grass had been influenced to a berserk state, its combat power was minimal. The cut on Mo Qi’s ankle was only a small wound, and with a bit of effort, he could easily tear away the grass vine that had ensnared him.
Meanwhile, Xiang Zhuo, who had intended to leave, suddenly sniffed slightly. In the darkness, Mo Qi didn’t notice this subtle action. As Mo Qi silently tore at the grass vine, he suddenly felt something cold and sharp press against his neck.
“Stay still.” Xiang Zhuo’s voice came from behind the tree. Instead of coming around, he cautiously extended his arm around the tree, holding a steel needle against Mo Qi’s neck.
Mo Qi held his breath, quickly assessing the situation in his mind.
