Chapter 028: Caught Sneaking a Kiss

After being threatened by the man last time, Mu Shengsheng didn’t dare kiss him while he was awake.

Time passed slowly, and whether inside the inner room or the outer room, it was completely silent.

After waiting for a long while and confirming that Lan Xun had fallen into a deep sleep, Mu Shengsheng finally got out of bed and tiptoed into the outer room.

By the dim light, she could see the man lying on the bed, eyes closed, breathing evenly, his expression calm. It was too dark to see his face clearly, but her mind automatically filled in his unmatched, handsome features.

Just like the last time she had sneaked a kiss, Mu Shengsheng moved with practiced ease. Stretching her neck, she leaned in and pressed her lips against his—smooth and seamless.

Perhaps because she had been near death before, when kissing Lan Xun, she had only focused on prolonging her life, happy about the extra days gained, without paying attention to any other sensations.

But tonight, in the pitch-black and unusually quiet surroundings, with no sight or sound, the sensation on her lips became exquisitely sensitive.

She could clearly feel his lips—cool, soft like clouds in the sky, like cotton on the ground, like the most delicious sweet food. The moment they touched, a strange current of electricity surged through her, spreading tingling warmth from her lips throughout her body, enticing her to kiss deeper.

Her mind went blank; she forgot how to think, as if she were lying on clouds, her body soft and powerless.

Her heart raced, as if it would leap out of her chest, her breath quickened, consciousness blurred. Her eyes were veiled in a mist, and her cheeks flushed with a rosy glow.

She couldn’t go on—something disastrous might happen if she continued. Mu Shengsheng struggled to regain her senses and tried to pull away.

But just as her lips parted, a large hand grabbed the back of her neck, pulling her back, and their lips collided heavily once more.

Lan Xun had woken up!

Mu Shengsheng shivered in shock, realizing her sneaky kiss had been discovered. She struggled to escape.

But he rolled over, pinning her down with no chance of moving. His heavy breaths fanned her flushed face, making it even hotter.

Their lips remained pressed together. His bite was firm, like placing a ripe cherry in the mouth—soft, juicy, bursting with sweet and tart flavor, leaving one wanting more.

His dominating hold continued until she nearly suffocated, only then did he release her.

Mu Shengsheng gasped for air, her lips burning and slightly bloody from his strong grip.

Though it was too dark to see clearly, she could feel it—his eyes, piercing and intense, seemed capable of burning through her.

Caught in the act, she wished there were a hole to hide in. Her face was red, and she couldn’t meet his gaze.

Lan Xun held her chin firmly, tilting her face toward him, his voice low as he questioned, “Mu Shengsheng, are you so reckless that you take my words as the wind?”

Mu Shengsheng, barely able to breathe, whispered in a trembling voice, “Shengsheng didn’t dare to be reckless…”

Yet the soft, helpless tone sounded like an alluring entanglement to him.

“Didn’t dare? You dared to sneak a kiss! What else don’t you dare to do?”

Lan Xun’s fingertips brushed teasingly over her chapped lips. Adopting her tone, he said, “You’ve never experienced a man and woman’s intimacy, right? If you die like this, you’ll regret it your whole life. Why not let me help you tonight, to make it complete?”

If Mu Shengsheng didn’t know who he was, she might have thought him a shameless scoundrel.

It was unimaginable that such words could come from the cold, ethereal Regency Prince.

Shame flushed her from cheeks to ears. She bit her lip, speechless, losing all her former eloquence.

Lan Xun then pulled over a brocade quilt, wrapping them both inside.

Realizing he meant it seriously, Mu Shengsheng panicked, “Your Highness, don’t… Shengsheng’s body, it’s not ready.”

Lan Xun chuckled lightly. “The one you desire is you, the one you don’t want is also you? Mu Shengsheng, I’ve long warned you not to provoke me, yet you didn’t listen.

“You wanted to be my secondary consort, didn’t you? Tonight I claim you, and tomorrow I will report to the Grand Empress Dowager to officially make you my secondary consort, fulfilling your wish.”

Mu Shengsheng truly panicked this time. “Your Highness, Shengsheng was wrong… I won’t dare again.”

She almost cried. She had only wanted a simple kiss—why did he always think in that way? Did all men think only of that?

Lan Xun’s large hand swept aside her clothing. His light inner garments fell open, revealing a chiseled chest and abdomen, his powerful frame seeming capable of unimaginable strength.

It looked overwhelming, as if he could devour two oxen. Mu Shengsheng couldn’t handle it.

Her legs tensed, hands pressing against his shoulders, trying to push him away.

Her breathing grew rapid, her hands weaker, cold sweat covering her. She pushed at him and whispered, “Your Highness, it hurts… Shengsheng… it hurts…”

Because of similar phrases heard in a dream, Lan Xun was initially puzzled—nothing had even started yet, why hurt?

But soon he realized—Mu Shengsheng was genuinely unwell.

He quickly got up and lit a lamp.

By the dim light, he saw her pale face, sweat on her forehead, struggling to breathe, clutching her abdomen in pain, tears at the corners of her eyes, half-conscious.

Only then did Lan Xun realize—she had fallen ill!
