Chapter 126
The PE teacher came up and separated the two groups of students.
Mo Yufan was bleeding, holding his forearm, sitting on the grass, and crying. The teacher of Class Three quickly went over to help him up.
The teachers of Class One and Class Two went over to stop Li Xiu and Mo Yin.
Li Xiu was supporting Mo Yin’s arm, while Mo Yin was holding his stomach with one hand. When the teacher came over to ask how he was doing, Mo Yin opened his mouth and vomited loudly.
The crowded circle immediately backed up half a meter.
Mo Yin was vomiting heavily. At first, it was food, then just water. The sound of his vomiting even drowned out Mo Yufan’s initial crying and shouting. Mo Yufan, seeing Mo Yin vomiting continuously, was a bit scared and fell silent with his mouth open.
The teacher was also frightened and quickly told the students to call the medical room teacher and bring a stretcher. Several students ran off immediately.
“I’ll carry him to the medical room,” Li Xiu said. He bent down to lift Mo Yin, but the teacher stopped him, saying not to press on Mo Yin’s abdomen. Li Xiu then changed his posture and picked Mo Yin up.
Mo Yin was not tall and had a thin build, so Li Xiu easily carried him in his arms.
The teacher forgot to scold the students for fighting and hurriedly urged Li Xiu to leave quickly, fearing a major accident.
The medical room was some distance from the playground. Li Xiu walked quickly while Mo Yin held his stomach, moaning softly in his arms. The teacher was sweating profusely, fanning Mo Yin’s head with his hand. “How are you feeling? Is it very uncomfortable?”
Mo Yin pursed his lips and didn’t answer, his face looking very pale.
The students who had gone to the medical room met Li Xiu halfway with the medical room teacher, so Li Xiu placed Mo Yin on the stretcher.
The medical room teacher usually dealt with minor issues like colds and fevers. At a school like Ke Fu, it was rare for students to fight. Occasionally, there were sports injuries or fractures, which were quickly sent to the hospital after some initial treatment in the medical room. The medical room teachers were shocked when they heard the students report the situation as very serious.
“How are you feeling? Where does it hurt?”
Mo Yin sat on the bed in the medical room, being questioned by the medical room teacher. At the teacher’s request, he lifted the hem of his school uniform.
There was a not very dark bruise on his stomach. Mo Yin’s skin was naturally pale, making it look a bit pitiful but not particularly severe.
“You’re vomiting so badly, it’s best to go to the hospital for a check-up. If there’s internal damage, it could be problematic,” the medical room teacher said cautiously.
Mo Yin shook his head and said, “I’m fine.”
He also had some injuries on his face, possibly abrasions from falling. The medical room teacher disinfected them and told him to leave the wounds exposed and not to use band-aids.
Mo Yin nodded.
The medical room teacher then checked his eyes and tongue, asking about his current stomach feeling. Mo Yin either shook or nodded his head, answering, “I’m fine.”
Before long, Mo Yufan was also brought in by a teacher.
The PE teacher inside quickly drew the curtain in front of Mo Yin, separating their views.
Soon, Mo Yufan’s cries and the medical room teacher’s comforting words, “Hold on, cleaning the wound is a bit painful,” could be heard from outside.
Li Xiu stood silently by Mo Yin’s bed. At this moment, he saw the corners of Mo Yin’s mouth slightly curl up, with a faint smile and bright eyes.
Li Xiu leaned over and whispered, “You’re fine.”
He spoke with a very certain tone.
Mo Yin looked up, his expression showing cold vigilance.
The wound cleaning took a few minutes. Due to repeated washing, Mo Yufan cried and yelled. When the cleaning was finished, and the medical room teacher applied ointment, he glanced at the curtain.
From the playground to the medical room, Mo Yufan had been supported by the teacher. His arm had stopped bleeding much, but he still held it, his head buzzing.
Mo Yin’s intense vomiting on the playground had scared him.
Mo Yufan’s academic performance was average. At the start of high school, he ranked around 500th in the school.
When he found out that his deskmate was the only poor student in the school, Mo Yufan felt uneasy, worried that Mo Yin would have a difficult personality and be hard to get along with.
Teenagers, nearing adulthood, often think they are very mature, even more so than 99% of adults. They believe they see the truth of how the world works, such as thinking that a poor family background might lead to a sensitive and inferior personality, making it troublesome to interact with.
Before actually interacting with Mo Yin, Mo Yufan had already created a preconceived image of him and thought of some coping strategies.
But Mo Yin turned out to be completely different from what he had imagined.
Despite both of them having similar scores on the high school entrance exam, Mo Yin had a kind of inexplicable confidence.
To accommodate Mo Yin, Mo Yufan started a conversation as soon as he sat down, talking about how insane the class placement exam at high school was and wondering how strong the students in the experimental class were.
Mo Yin remained silent, which made Mo Yufan initially think that Mo Yin shared his thoughts. Then Mo Yin said the first and only meaningful thing in their deskmate life: “I will also get into the experimental class in the future.”
Mo Yufan laughed out loud at Mo Yin’s childish remark, thinking that poor students really had limited knowledge. They thought they were geniuses in their poor schools, but at Ke Fu, there were many students better than them.
Mo Yin, head down, continued reading and ignored him.
Although they were desk mates, they had very little interaction. Their relationship often reached freezing points. With a competitive attitude, Mo Yufan insisted on getting along with Mo Yin, but the result was the opposite. They didn’t get along, and Mo Yufan ended up thoroughly disliking Mo Yin.
Perhaps it was due to Mo Yin’s unlikable personality, or maybe it was a bit of jealousy. Mo Yufan accepted his own mediocrity, but having someone close to him striving to escape mediocrity was harder for him to accept than those who were always at the top. It was difficult for him to see someone who was originally at his level gradually reach a place he also aspired to.
Subconsciously, Mo Yufan had always avoided the question of why he disliked Mo Yin so much. Too many people disliked Mo Yin, and this collective dislike didn’t require much thought. But today’s unexpected fight broke his subconscious barrier and sent chills down his spine.
If things continued this way, it seemed beyond his control.
An incident involving blood was definitely not in Mo Yufan’s expectations.
He still disliked Mo Yin, but it didn’t seem worth such a high cost.
Mo Yufan was actually a little scared, afraid that he had seriously injured Mo Yin. He didn’t dare to think about the consequences he hadn’t anticipated and didn’t dare to ask Mo Yin if he was hurt, fearing it would expose his guilt and cowardice.
In terms of right and wrong, it was Mo Yin who made the first move, but Mo Yufan knew that such matters ultimately depended on the extent of the injuries.
Li Xiu had also kicked him in the stomach, causing pain but not as severe as Mo Yin’s vomiting.
Mo Yufan trembled, suddenly regretting his confrontation with Mo Yin.
The homeroom teachers of both classes arrived.
The devastated Mo Yufan was taken away from the medical room by the homeroom teacher of Class Three.
The homeroom teacher of Class Two came over and lifted the curtain. “Mo Yin, are you alright?!”
Mo Yin shook his head, not speaking.
The homeroom teacher, having never encountered such a situation before, anxiously said, “I heard you vomited heavily.” She looked to the medical room teacher for help, who said, “It’s best to go to the hospital for a check-up.”
“I’m fine,” Mo Yin said, holding his arm across his abdomen. “Teacher, I don’t want to go to the hospital.”
The more Mo Yin insisted he was fine, the more worried the homeroom teacher became. She quickly reassured him that he didn’t need to worry about medical expenses because the school insurance would cover it.
“I know, I really am fine,” Mo Yin said, his face pale but his tone steady. “Teacher, I heard the class bell. I want to go back to class.”
The homeroom teacher couldn’t let him go back. “No, how about this, you go back to the dormitory…” She stopped mid-sentence, remembering that the dormitory conflict was the reason for all this. She frowned deeply. Li Xiu intervened, “Teacher, let him rest in my dormitory. I live alone.”
Seeing it was Li Xiu, the homeroom teacher felt much more at ease and nodded, “Alright, thank you. Mo Yin, how about going to Li Xiu’s dormitory to rest?”
“Teacher, I want to attend class,” Mo Yin insisted.
“No.”
The homeroom teacher frowned. She knew she should call his parents to accompany him to the hospital, but considering Mo Yin’s situation… “Mo Yin, listen to me. Your health is your greatest asset. Rest and observe for a while. If anything happens, you can go to the hospital immediately. I will arrange for other teachers to help you catch up on missed lessons during breaks, alright?”
Mo Yin looked hesitant, but under the homeroom teacher’s gentle and pleading gaze, he slowly nodded.
The homeroom teacher helped support Mo Yin, but he said it wasn’t necessary and pulled back his arm. Li Xiu said, “Teacher, I’ll accompany him back to the dorm. Don’t worry.”
The homeroom teacher followed them to the dormitory, repeatedly reminding them of important points. When the warning bell rang, she said, “I have a class next period, so I need to go. Are you sure you’re alright?”
Mo Yin nodded, affirming that he was fine.
As the homeroom teacher reached the door, Mo Yin called out to her again, “Teacher, can’t I apply to live alone?”
The homeroom teacher hesitated, glanced at Li Xiu, and unable to refuse in this situation, said, “I’ll try to help you.”
“Thank you, Teacher.” Mo Yin appeared very grateful, showing a look that wasn’t intentionally pitiful but naturally evoked sympathy.
After the homeroom teacher closed the door, the expression on Mo Yin’s face disappeared.
Li Xiu, who had been standing quietly on the side, saw the change in Mo Yin’s expression and couldn’t help but laugh. When he laughed, Mo Yin turned his face, his expression cold, “Is it funny?”
Li Xiu didn’t answer his question but asked, “Why did you vomit so badly?”
Mo Yin didn’t want to answer Li Xiu’s question either, replying with his own, “Do you think just because you kicked Mo Yufan for me, you’re my benefactor?”
If Mo Yufan were seriously injured, things would get complicated.
What a busybody.
Li Xiu’s mouth twitched into a slight smile, and Mo Yin found it unfortunate. It was a pity he didn’t have a justifiable reason or opportunity to beat up Li Xiu, and Li Xiu clearly realized that he had made himself vomit rather than it being due to injury. This meant that if he fought with Li Xiu, this trick wouldn’t work. More importantly, Li Xiu was much taller and stronger than Mo Yufan, so if they really fought, he might suffer.
Li Xiu released his crossed arms and pulled out a chair next to Mo Yin to sit down.
Although Mo Yufan was weak, he had still hurt Mo Yin a bit. When Mo Yin moved his chair slightly, the pain in his stomach flared up, so he stopped.
“I need to clarify a few things for you.”
Li Xiu rested his left arm on the desk, “First, I didn’t kick Mo Yufan for you; I took the opportunity to experience what a fight felt like. So, I don’t think of myself as your benefactor.”
Mo Yin looked at Li Xiu as if he were crazy; this person really had some issues.
Li Xiu smiled with both corners of his mouth lifting, “Second, when I smile at you, it’s because I’m in a good mood, not because I’m mocking you. You don’t have to get so angry.”
Mo Yin also tugged at the corners of his mouth, “You have no right to mock me in the first place, and I’m not angry.”
Li Xiu laughed. He was sitting very close to Mo Yin, with his long legs spread apart, almost enclosing Mo Yin and his chair, as if preventing him from suddenly running away.
“Third,” Li Xiu looked at the wound on Mo Yin’s cheekbone and his cold, proud expression, smiling again, “When I said you’re interesting last time, I wasn’t teasing you; I meant I like you a little.”
