White Peach Oolong
White Peach Oolong Chapter 9.1

After providing some psychological comfort and various assurances to Pei Shi, Bai Tao finally secured the opportunity to become his short-term personal assistant. Her assistant, Song Yan, managed to get an additional two-day extension for her manuscript deadline from the platform. With five extra days, Bai Tao secretly vowed to make the most of this hard-won time, diligently gathering material and thoughtfully brainstorming to repay her readers.

On the way to the company, Bai Tao was only troubled by one thing: her name. “Since I’m not revealing my identity, I can’t use my real name. How about an English name?” She shook the sullen, silent Pei Shi beside her, who looked like he was carrying a heavy burden. “Husband, give me an English name.”

Since Bai Tao had confirmed she would be his temporary assistant, Pei Shi hadn’t relaxed his expression once. Today, on the way to work, his face was as grim as if he were attending a funeral.

Well, of course—bringing a beauty like her into the company must feel like leading a lamb to the slaughter, right? Pei Shi’s company must be full of excellent single young men, so it’s only natural for Pei Shi to be nervous. No wonder his face looks so serious.

Once Bai Tao understood Pei Shi’s mindset, she knew how to soothe him. She gave him the right to choose her English name! Naming is often an act of claiming sovereignty, and now she had the perfect opportunity to appease Pei Shi.

Seeing Pei Shi remain silent, Bai Tao kindly suggested, “Just think about the first impression you had of me. Many English names have meanings…”

Sure enough, Pei Shi glanced at her a couple of times, quickly finding inspiration. He opened his mouth, a faint smile playing on his lips, and succinctly said, “Fiona.”

Bai Tao immediately nodded sweetly in agreement.

To keep a low profile, Pei Shi didn’t introduce Bai Tao to anyone when they arrived at the company. She quietly followed behind Yuan Mu like an assistant’s assistant.

It wasn’t until she arrived at Pei Shi’s company that Bai Tao realized Pei Shi had more than just Yuan Mu as an assistant. Yuan Mu was the personal assistant, but he also had administrative assistants, operations assistants, and other specialized assistant roles under him.

Yuan Mu took Bai Tao to the assistants’ office and said, “Sun Jing, this is Pei’s new personal assistant, Fiona. Show her around the company.”

After giving Sun Jing a few restrained instructions, Yuan Mu left Bai Tao with her. Sun Jing didn’t have a chance to introduce Bai Tao to the environment before getting caught up in a meeting call.

Bai Tao wasn’t in a hurry; she had something else on her mind. While Sun Jing was on the phone, Bai Tao took out her phone and looked up the meaning of “Fiona.”

What she found delighted her. The meaning of Fiona was exactly what she needed: “Fiona: imaginative, expressive, gentle, intelligent, cheerful, and pure. It symbolizes both fashionable and noble qualities, making it suitable for writers, creators, artists, and other creative professions.”

Pei Shi was so thoughtful about her!

Bai Tao was deeply moved. She had casually asked him to come up with a meaningful name, and he had instantly come up with Fiona, a name that perfectly matched her qualities! Gentle, intelligent, cheerful, and pure—weren’t these her exact traits? Even the creative and imaginative aspects matched her profession perfectly!

The news reports were right—Pei Shi was adept at subtly expressing his affection. A glance, a gesture, and he was a walking machine of sweetness!

Thinking about this, Bai Tao blushed as she glanced in the direction of Pei Shi’s office.

Pei Shi had done so much for her, so shouldn’t she also be attentive and caring during her time as his temporary assistant, showing him her love in every possible way?

Opportunities favor the prepared. Just then, the administrative assistant Sun Jing finished her call and instructed a young male assistant, “The American black coffee for Pei is here. Take it to the conference room.”

“I’ll do it!” Bai Tao jumped in. Pei Shi needed to drink more water for his health, and this was the right time for a pick-me-up.

But American black coffee? Bai Tao thought, these assistants really didn’t understand Pei Shi. His favorite was White Peach Oolong tea, not American black coffee! According to multiple news reports, Pei Shi had developed an affection for anything related to peaches because of her—he loved peaches, planted peach trees, and even preferred peach-flavored drinks. Seeing anything peach-related throughout the day would always lift his spirits!

Fortunately for Bai Tao, there happened to be a box of Bai Tao Oolong tea bags at the refreshment bar. She immediately chose one and thoughtfully brewed a cup of Bai Tao Oolong tea for Pei Shi.

Carrying the tea, Bai Tao knocked and entered Pei Shi’s office. Pei Shi was engrossed in reading financial reports and didn’t even look up, not noticing that it was Bai Tao who had brought him the tea.

This worked in her favor, Bai Tao thought. If Pei Shi looked up and was suddenly overwhelmed with tenderness, he might not be able to focus on his financial reports.

Pei Shi did look particularly handsome when he was serious…

But when she left the conference room, Sun Jing approached her. She glanced at the American black coffee on the bar and asked, “Why didn’t you deliver this to President Pei?” She looked suspiciously at Bai Tao, “What did you bring in there?”

Bai Tao smiled, “Bai Tao Oolong tea.”

Sun Jing looked shocked. “Are you crazy?”

“?”

“I have to swap it back!” Sun Jing said in a panic, “President Pei can’t drink Bai Tao Oolong tea! He gets into trouble whenever he drinks it!”

Without saying much more, she grabbed the American black coffee and rushed into the conference room as if a disaster was imminent.
