Bai Tao watched her retreating figure, puzzled for a few seconds before she figured it out. Apparently, Pei Shi’s mad love for her was well-known. His claim that he couldn’t focus on work with her around seemed true. Given his obsession, even drinking Bai Tao Oolong tea would remind him of her to the point of distraction…
However, Bai Tao was unaware that in Sun Jing’s eyes, the situation looked entirely different.
Although Sun Jing had only been at the company for a year, she had accumulated four years of prior work experience. Not exactly a veteran, but no longer a newbie either. She understood most of the workplace rules and managed the administrative assistants team directly under Yuan Mu. Her team included two junior assistants, who were fresh graduates and hardworking but inexperienced. She had been complaining to the HR director about being short-staffed, so she was surprised when a new member was added today.
Adding to the team was good news, but this new addition seemed problematic…
The new arrival was a young woman. Sun Jing objectively noted that she was far more beautiful than the company’s front desk staff, who were supposed to be the best-looking. Not only was she pretty, but she also had a delicate, exquisite aura. Sun Jing had never believed in the concept of “aura” until now. Seeing the stark contrast made her realize that this woman was indeed different, despite Yuan Mu’s claim that she was just an ordinary new hire.
First, she didn’t have a proper resume. Sun Jing, after finishing the meeting call, pretended to have some business with the HR department and found out that there had been no official hiring process for this woman. Moreover, she didn’t even provide a Chinese name, just an English alias—Fiona.
Of all the English names, why choose something so corny? Fiona? Might as well be Shrek!
Sun Jing probed further and, as expected, this Fiona didn’t know a single workplace skill. She couldn’t operate the copier, scanner, or printer. It was clear she had no work experience at all!
But what was more concerning than an inexperienced rookie was a well-connected one.
This woman, stunningly beautiful yet mysterious about her identity, didn’t dare reveal her real name. President Pei, who was always so aloof and deeply in love with his wife Bai Tao, typically hired male assistants to avoid suspicion. Even the female assistants he hired were ordinary-looking, like Sun Jing herself. Why would he now hire someone like Fiona, whose appearance alone would cause a stir but who lacked any skills? How strong must her connections be!
Not only did Sun Jing fail to get the additional help she needed, but she also ended up with a troublesome, well-connected rookie taking up a spot. She was already annoyed, and then she came back from the HR director to find that Fiona had taken it upon herself not to deliver the usual American black coffee to President Pei, but instead had brought him Bai Tao Oolong tea, which he hated the most!
Completely useless!
From that moment, Sun Jing decided she disliked Fiona.
She rushed into the conference room, hoping to swap the tea before Pei Shi drank it. But as she burst into the room, Pei Shi was already lifting the cup to his lips, engrossed in his financial report.
Too late. Everything was too late.
All Sun Jing could think was that this was a disaster.
Sure enough, Pei Shi took a sip and nearly spat it out. His good manners barely allowed him to swallow it. The next second, he looked up angrily, “Who made this tea?”
Sun Jing stammered, “Fiona.”
Pei Shi frowned, “Who?”
“The new hire, Fiona.”
Pei Shi seemed to pause and then realize who she was talking about. Just as Sun Jing braced herself for Pei Shi to lose his temper and fire Fiona on the spot, he suppressed his anger. He didn’t pursue the issue of the Bai Tao Oolong tea any further, simply saying, “Get me a cup of American black coffee. And from now on, don’t let…” He hesitated, “Don’t let Fiona make tea.”
???
Sun Jing left the conference room in a daze. President Pei wasn’t angry? He drank the Bai Tao Oolong tea he hated the most and didn’t get angry?
No, he was angry. But he controlled his anger when he heard Fiona’s name?!
Sun Jing tried to analyze the situation calmly. This Fiona was clearly a well-connected person. She was very beautiful but utterly incompetent, with a delicate, pampered aura. She exuded an air of luxury and indulgence. She had taken the initiative to serve tea to President Pei, even choosing the Bai Tao Oolong tea he hated most, yet he hadn’t gotten angry and had even asked her not to make tea anymore! But what good was an assistant who didn’t make tea or coffee? President Pei couldn’t bear to have Fiona make tea?
This…
Could it be that President Pei is hiding something from Teacher Bai Tao?
With this suspicion in mind, Sun Jing paid more attention to this Fiona.
At lunchtime, Sun Jing originally intended to invite Fiona to join her so she could introduce her to the company while they ate. But before Sun Jing could say anything, Fiona glanced around sneakily, thinking no one was watching, and then slipped into President Pei’s office!
Sun Jing’s alarm bells went off. The large office area was mostly empty since everyone had gone to eat or rest, except for Sun Jing, who was working overtime on some materials. Once Fiona entered President Pei’s office, there was really no one around.
In addition to being Pei Shi’s administrative assistant, Sun Jing had another identity: she was a die-hard fan of Pei Shi’s wife, Bai Tao’s comics.
Every night after returning home from working late, Sun Jing would open the web serial and tear up over the love stories in Bai Tao’s comics. In real life, she was also moved by the touching love between Bai Tao and Pei Shi.
