Chapter 283: You’re Quite Familiar, Madam (5th Update)
Ye Wenxin nodded, also finding this courtesan to be quite unique compared to others adorned with makeup. Fatty became even more excited and squeezed back into the crowd.
Meanwhile, Ye Wenxin looked at the promotional flyer in her hand, admiring how the brushwork captured the charm of the woman depicted.
“This Winter Jasmine is intriguing; the painting is so lifelike.” Ye Wenxin couldn’t help but praise. Beside her, Madam Yu’s mouth curled into a faint smile. “It seems Young Master Zhu (Fatty) has quite a discerning taste. Winter Jasmine is the most well-known brothel nearby, but if we were to just walk in there, we probably wouldn’t even glimpse the courtesan.”
Ye Wenxin, surprised to hear Madam Yu discussing a worldly woman for once, continued to inquire. “I wonder if Madam Yu has a way for us to meet this courtesan?”
Madam Yu paused for a moment, then replied, “Certainly, but please don’t expect too much, Miss Wenxin.”
Ye Wenxin was a bit puzzled. She simply found this woman’s belly dancing to be quite reminiscent of the styles on Earth, and wanted to take a few more glances. However, Madam Yu’s tone made it sound as if Ye Wenxin wanted something from the courtesan.
“Huh? What expectations could I possibly have of her?”
“Yingchun performs but does not sell herself.”
“You sound like you’re quite familiar, Madam,” teased Ye Wenxin, and Madam Yu responded with that enigmatic smile again. But soon enough, Ye Wenxin understood the reason.
It wasn’t because Madam Yu was familiar with Winter Jasmine, but because Madam Yu was actually Winter Jasmine’s owner. However, Green Isle Manor was an immortal sect, so this fact was never publicly disclosed.
Not only did Madam Yu orchestrate this so-called Flower Queen Night, but she even promoted the brothel’s popularity behind the scenes, making Ye Wenxin genuinely consider her a business genius.
With Green Isle Manor’s original business and reputation, combined with the most luxurious and expensive brothel, making money daily was definitely not a problem.
If Ye Wenxin guessed correctly, Liu Churan maintaining contact with Madam Yu might have something to do with her misused financial resources coming from Green Isle Manor, thus preventing any deficit in the Wind and Moon Palace.
Regardless, Ye Wenxin was very grateful to Madam Yu for granting her such a favor tonight.
They were given the best private room and ladies. The elder sisters easily teased Fatty and the others, who were inexperienced in romance, into blushing, while Ye Wenxin and Madam Yu had two fair-looking young men by their side.
Initially, Madam Yu wanted to find a woman to accompany Ye Wenxin, but Ye Wenxin firmly refused. However, when the young man took his place beside her, Ye Wenxin realized she had been surrounded by the scent of women for so long, that her body was starting to reject the presence of men.
No matter how flattering or seductive the young man was, Ye Wenxin found herself completely uninterested, let alone doing anything further with him.
Halfway through, Ye Wenxin couldn’t take it anymore. She simply handed over a spirit stone to send the young man away. When she looked at Madam Yu again, she noticed that whatever Madam Yu had said to the young man had left him so emotional, he started crying in silence.
Clearly, while they had come to the brothel for pleasure, Madam Yu was taking an unconventional path.
Fatty and the others didn’t have many encounters with women, so when they noticed that Ye Wenxin’s attention was entirely on Madam Yu, it gave them the confidence to boldly flirt with the ladies. Fatty was the quickest, soon leaving with a girl who bore a striking resemblance to Xiao Zhang.
Ye Wenxin gave him a thumbs up, and the others, seeing Fatty’s success, quickly found their own preferred female companions and left. In no time, only Ye Wenxin, Madam Yu, and the courtesan remained in the private room.
The courtesan was beautiful, but she seemed too inexperienced compared to the stunning Madam Yu. Moreover, knowing that Madam Yu was her boss, the courtesan naturally behaved very obediently.
Although Madam Yu was not very talkative, the courtesan appeared quite nervous.
Ye Wenxin, not knowing what else to say, casually asked the courtesan some questions.
“What do you like to eat?”
“Do you like reading?”
The courtesan answered each question, but her responses were so standard that Ye Wenxin found them quite dull. Madam Yu sipped her tea on the side, abstaining from alcohol and meat. Occasionally, she gave the courtesan a look, prompting her to encourage Ye Wenxin to drink.
However, spirit wine had honed Ye Wenxin’s alcohol tolerance, so she couldn’t get drunk easily. As they continued drinking, the courtesan ended up passing out from the alcohol.
Ye Wenxin, feeling awkwardly sober, decided to pretend to be drunk. She loudly proclaimed that Huang Hanyan was waiting for her at the relay station, and gestured to leave early.
“Tonight, Yingchun is yours,” Madam Yu said calmly, showing no intention of stopping her.
Ye Wenxin momentarily forgot she was pretending after hearing Madam Yu’s words.
“Why so shocked? Weren’t you drunk?” Madam Yu poured another glass of wine and handed it to Ye Wenxin.
Ye Wenxin, flabbergasted, realized Madam Yu’s tactic was quite ruthless. She sat back down and said, “Madam Yu, are you giving up on this business? This is your top courtesan we’re talking about.”
Madam Yu downed the cup of wine she had been offering to Ye Wenxin and, with a calm voice, replied, “Exchanging a courtesan for a business partner is not a bad deal. And if it helps stabilize your emotions, it’s worth it.”
Ye Wenxin felt even more embarrassed. “Am I that obvious?”
Madam Yu nodded slightly. “I possess a Mystic Yin Physique, so naturally, I can read your Qi.”
“But my chaotic Qi isn’t due to a lack of such activities.” Ye Wenxin hesitated, choosing her words carefully. “It’s just that… I feel very uneasy.”
Ever since arriving here, she had been plagued by nightmares, which drove her to seek relaxation. However, she believed that indulging in carnal pleasures wouldn’t address the root of her problem.
Yet, Madam Yu misunderstood her intentions and even offered the courtesan, leaving Ye Wenxin feeling a bit at a loss.
She had to admit, though, that after wrestling with Ling Jue, her curiosity about such matters had indeed grown. Combined with the extravagant nature of her dreams, she found it increasingly hard to resist the temptation.
“Can you tell me about it?” asked Madam Yu, her expression resembling that of a caring elder sister as she refilled the cup.
Whether it was because Madam Yu was a bit tipsy, or she was doing it intentionally, the two shared the same cup.
Ye Wenxin thought about the content of her dreams and shook her head. “I can’t.”
