Chapter 51: Dispute
Su Ning hadn’t even finished dealing with Ding’s mother’s trouble when, just as she began fighting monsters, she received a message from Luo Nanchuan.
Luo Nanchuan: “Is there something wrong with the raincoat? Or the thermal underwear? My teammate is sick.”
Under normal circumstances, Su Ning would have asked for details and explained patiently. But today, after dealing with Ding’s mother’s nonstop clinging, and now getting a message from Luo Nanchuan, Su Ning’s anger had nowhere to go. She immediately replied bluntly:
“Luo Nanchuan, what do you mean? We’ve traded so many times—have I ever cheated or scammed you? If you want to return something, just say so. Worst case, block me.”
Seeing the reply, Luo Nanchuan didn’t expect Su Ning to be so angry today. He also realized his own wording might have been problematic and patiently explained:
Luo Nanchuan: “No, I just wanted to ask why only one of the three got sick. Has anything similar happened on your end?”
Su Ning: “So you’re asking if I sold you defective goods? No.”
Su Ning was internally dissatisfied but knew it wasn’t Luo Nanchuan’s fault, so she added:
Su Ning: “If only one person is sick, shouldn’t you be asking the sick person?”
Luo Nanchuan was full of doubts. He knew girls could be difficult, but not this difficult. On their first outing, someone got sick.
Even though all three were fully equipped, the rain made movement difficult, and they barely moved, relying on Luo Nanchuan’s summoned beasts to take the hits.
Yao Qianqian hadn’t gotten wet at all—how did she get sick?
Yan Han asked repeatedly, but Yao Qianqian didn’t dare explain, only timidly saying she didn’t know.
In truth, Yao Qianqian deeply regretted her choices.
It was normal for her to get sick—she hadn’t worn the thermal underwear Luo Nanchuan gave her. She wanted to keep the gift safe since it was from her crush, she thought the light rain wouldn’t be cold, and she wanted to look good on her first outing with him.
So, lightly dressed, she went out with the two men. Yan Han and Luo Nanchuan, being men, didn’t check her clothes, so no one knew the real cause of her illness.
She caught a cold as soon as they left the city. Seeing the mild negative effects, she thought it wasn’t serious and didn’t mention it.
By the time they reached the ghost territory, Yao Qianqian showed mild flu symptoms. Battle had already started, and feeling like a burden, she silently used skills to remove the cold status and heal herself.
This cycle continued, consuming many mana potions, and she struggled all day until the system suddenly applied a severe flu status, causing her to faint, which finally got Yan Han and Luo Nanchuan’s attention. Yan Han carried her back.
The street-level city lacked proper clinics or pharmacies, and the local shop only sold simple health and mana pills, not cold medicine, so they had no choice but to bring her home.
Yao Qianqian was unconscious all night, leaving the two men full of guilt. When asked about it, she didn’t dare tell the truth, fearing she’d be considered foolish and kicked from the team, so she repeatedly claimed she didn’t know.
This is why Luo Nanchuan came to Su Ning early in the morning—to ask about the cause of the illness and possibly claim compensation. But he encountered Su Ning in a bad mood and got scolded instead.
“Any news? Did you find out?” Yan Han asked nervously.
“No,” Luo Nanchuan replied helplessly.
Yan Han got worked up: “Ask the boss what he means! Everyone’s fine, only Qianqian is sick. How is this clothes situation handled? At least try to care a little—better than knowing nothing!”
Luo Nanchuan cautiously asked: “Could it be because girls are more delicate?”
Su Ning frowned at the message, impatiently replying:
“No problem. What kind of weather did you have—pouring rain? Which girl isn’t delicate? Here, we just caught a cold, mostly because our pants got wet while fighting. Soak in a hot bath for half an hour—proven effective.”
Though her tone was harsh, it was much calmer than before. Luo Nanchuan relaxed a little and continued to ask:
“It’s not just a cold. She had a severe flu, slept all night, and the priest’s dispel failed.”
Su Ning: “What temperature was it? Everyone’s fine, only she fainted? Did she run around naked in the rain?”
Luo Nanchuan, speechless, sent yesterday’s temperature:
“16–24°C. She just stood beside us, clothes didn’t get wet.”
Su Ning: “Impossible. That’s barely different from here. My pants and collars were soaked, I didn’t get sick. Standing there and getting severe flu? If you don’t believe me, return it—I’ll refund at full price. I can even compensate for your girlfriend’s illness—it’s just a few silver coins.”
Luo Nanchuan sensed Su Ning’s resentment and realized it wasn’t the right time to pursue the matter. Better not risk Su Ning insisting on compensation; the illness was minor, the gear was more important.
“Boss says this? Any case studies? Can it be cured? Easy? What’s going on? Speak up!” Yan Han was frustrated with Luo Nanchuan’s silence. Luo Nanchuan finally said:
“No case studies. The worst over there was just a cold.”
The two sat in the living room, pondering, unaware that Yao Qianqian, secretly listening, was full of worry. She didn’t dare tell the truth and swore to keep silent. Watching the severe flu status she couldn’t dispel, she quietly sobbed.
Severe Flu Status: Moving causes dizziness; 5% chance per trigger to fall unconscious; lose 1 HP and 1 MP per minute.
It wasn’t extremely severe, but luckily she could heal herself; otherwise, even taking medicine would bankrupt them. Unknowingly, she had consumed almost half of Luo Nanchuan’s savings.
That money was intended to reorder a staff from Su Ning. Now it was gone, and the negative status was unpredictable. At this rate, Luo Nanchuan wouldn’t last five more days.
Yan Han, seeing Yao Qianqian unable to get out of bed, refusing to let her move, tended to her closely.
Luo Nanchuan was the only one frustrated—how to cure Yao Qianqian quickly and repair his relationship with Su Ning?
