Chapter 12: A Date with Beauty

Fu Yanci announced, “Our company has successfully acquired the established luxury car manufacturer and obtained new technology. We expect to launch a new luxury car model this year.”

The screen behind him displayed the exterior and interior of the concept car.

All the lawyers beside Shen Shuli were beyond excited.

“It’s so beautiful!”

“Too bad I can’t afford it.”

“I dream of owning one—every detail is designed to perfection!”

“This car will be available in various colors, but there’s one exclusive shade—pink. Only one unit will be produced in this color, as it was specially designed and developed for my wife. Pink is her favorite, and this color belongs solely to her.”

The moment Fu Yanci spoke these words, everyone’s gaze turned to Shen Shuli.

Shen Shuli was just as surprised as the others. No wonder Fu Yanci had insisted she watch the livestream—this was the reason.

As she watched the broadcast, seeing Fu Yanci declare his love for her so tenderly to the world, she couldn’t reconcile it with the fact that, five years ago, he had already fathered a child with another woman.

Her emotions in turmoil, she turned to leave. It suddenly occurred to her that Mu Huaixu, who was supposed to arrive by now, hadn’t shown up either.

Her eyes fell on the pink diamond necklace on the table. Narrowing her gaze slightly, she took out her phone and checked Bai Jinghong’s social media, only to find that all the posts had been wiped clean.

Not just hidden behind a “three-day visibility” setting—everything was truly gone. Just moments ago, the content had still been visible.

The lawyers, still buzzing from the livestream, crowded around her, staring at her with admiration.

“A-Li, you’re so lucky! To have such a loving, handsome, and wealthy husband!”

“A public declaration of love to the whole world—I was moved just watching it. Your husband spoils you so much!”

“How could you keep such an amazing, gentle, and devoted husband a secret from us for so long? That’s just stingy!”

Shen Shuli didn’t know how to respond. She had never made a big deal about being the Shen family’s heiress at the law firm.

Just then, her phone buzzed with a notification.

She opened it to find a message from Mu Huaixu:

“Something came up at the company today, so I won’t be able to make it. How about dinner tonight to discuss work? Would you honor me with your time?”

Shen Shuli replied, “Send me the address. I’ll head there straight after work.”

Mu Huaixu immediately sent her a location.

She recognized the restaurant—an exclusive private dining spot with impeccable privacy, one she and Fu Yanci used to frequent. The food was exceptional, favored by many celebrities and elites.

The privacy was so thorough that even if you were dining in the same restaurant, you’d never accidentally run into each other.

Fu Yanci had always chosen this place to ensure their meals remained undisturbed.

It seemed Mu Huaixu also had a taste for the restaurant’s cuisine.

She sent back a simple “Okay.”

Meanwhile, Fu Yanci returned to his company right after the press conference. Bai Jinghong had been waiting for him there.

Fu Yanci was cold, not even sparing her a glance as he took his seat behind the executive desk. “What is it now?”

Bai Jinghong spoke cautiously, “My agent wants me to take on a new project, but since I haven’t acted in five years, they want me to generate some buzz before filming starts.”

Fu Yanci cut her off impatiently, his tone indifferent and distant. “Get to the point.”

“My agent wants me to take on a more high-profile endorsement deal. After much thought, I remembered you have a new car model launching soon. Could I become the spokesperson for that car?”

“Impossible. Don’t even dream about it.”

Fu Yanci rejected her outright without hesitation.

Bai Jinghong lowered her eyes in hurt, her gaze moist. “I’ve already returned the necklace to you. You said you’d compensate me—can’t you even grant such a small request?”

Fu Yanci shot her a frosty glance. “From now on, you’re not allowed to post anything on social media.”

Bai Jinghong was stunned by his domineering attitude—he was even stripping her of the right to post on social media.

“I understand.”

“No liking my posts either, or I’ll block you.”

Fu Yanci’s overbearing tone made the air around them turn icy.

Bai Jinghong pursed her lips, her gaze shifting. “I understand.”

Fu Yanci added another demand. “You’re not allowed to use Duo Duo’s photo as your profile picture.”

Bai Jinghong was baffled. “Why not? He’s my son. Why can’t I?”

“I said no, and that’s final. No explanations. If you disagree, take Duo Duo and get back to Europe!”

His voice was frigid, devoid of any warmth.

Bai Jinghong bit her lip hard, swallowing her grievances as she acquiesced. “Fine. What about the endorsement deal…?”

Fu Yanci tapped the desk lightly with his slender fingers. “There’s a mid-range car model launching around the same time. You can endorse that one.”

Bai Jinghong exhaled in relief. “That works too. To show my gratitude, let me treat you to dinner tonight? Just the two of us—Duo Duo won’t come.”

“I’m busy.”

Fu Yanci pulled out some documents and started working, effectively dismissing her.

Biting back her frustration, Bai Jinghong didn’t push further and left.

By the end of the workday, Fu Yanci still had unfinished tasks. He sent Shen Shuli a message.

“Sweetheart, I have to work late tonight. Can’t have dinner with you.”

Shen Shuli only replied with a single “Okay.”

Her sudden indifference irked him. In the past, whenever he mentioned overtime or business dinners, she’d always fuss over him with endless reminders. He never found it annoying—just heartwarming.

Just then, an unknown number sent him a multimedia message containing only a photo.

He opened it—and froze. It was Shen Shuli with a man at their favorite private restaurant!

His eyes burned with fury. No wonder she couldn’t be bothered to reply—she already had a date!

At that moment, Bai Jinghong texted him a location. “This place has great food. I’ve already reserved a table. Really won’t you join me just this once?”

Fu Yanci’s mind was consumed by the image of Shen Shuli walking side by side with another man. Though the photo was blurry and the man’s face wasn’t visible, he could tell—that was unmistakably Shen Shuli.

She was secretly dining with another man behind his back!

He immediately replied to Bai Jinghong, “I’m on my way.”

Bai Jinghong responded instantly, “I’ll wait for you at the entrance. Heart emoji.jpg.”

Fu Yanci grabbed his car keys and stormed out.

He sped to the restaurant, where Bai Jinghong—wearing sunglasses and a pristine white dress—was already waiting.

Seeing his arrival, she excitedly grabbed his arm. “I’ve been waiting for you for so long.”

Fu Yanci’s eyes darkened with a storm of emotions, filled with nothing but disgust. “Let go!”

Bai Jinghong reluctantly withdrew her hand, her tone turning cautious again. “Why are you suddenly so angry? Did something happen?”
