Chapter 1
(Alternate Universe. The male lead, Qin Yi, is reborn with memories of his past life! Because of his previous experiences, Qin Yi has been determined since childhood to marry a rich woman. In this life, he’s set on enjoying a life of luxury.)
In Tianhai City, one of Huaguo’s largest metropolises, it was exactly 11 a.m. Other office workers had already been busy for hours, but Qin Yi was just opening his eyes, lying comfortably in his soft, luxurious bed.
As usual, he reached for his phone to check if there were any bank notifications. After all, today was the day his wealthy wife, Su Xiaowan, would transfer money to him.
Seeing that no notifications had arrived, he decided to get out of bed and call his beloved wife to ask what was going on. After all, he had plans with friends to go to the Red Horse Club that afternoon.
Just as he was about to put down his phone, a new message arrived.
Qin Yi quickly opened it—and froze when he saw the photos inside.
“What the… When did my wife’s childhood friend come back? How did I not know? And the background… it looks like it’s the corridor inside the Red Horse Club!” Qin Yi muttered, shocked.
In his previous life, Qin Yi had died suddenly at work. On the verge of death, he had secretly vowed that if he were reborn, he would marry a wealthy woman and live a life of comfort.
Back then, ever since high school, he had only been able to sleep three or four hours a day. He studied relentlessly, then worked overtime after university, striving to earn money. By the time he turned thirty, he had bought an apartment in the city where he worked.
But before he could even find a girlfriend, he died suddenly one night while working late. In his previous life, Qin Yi had never even held a woman’s hand, let alone anything more.
Qin Yi quickly got dressed, washed up, and rushed downstairs.
Seeing him, Su, the family butler, hurried over. “Sir, would you like breakfast?”
“No, I have to go out!” Qin Yi replied, moving toward the villa’s exit without pause.
As he reached the door, he paused and said, “Su, after Nian Nian finishes school this afternoon, drive to pick her up. I might not have time.”
Qin Yi had already decided: if Su Xiaowan dared to step out of line, he would confront her first—and then consider divorce. He might enjoy a life of leisure, but he would maintain his dignity.
“Understood, sir!”
After a nod, Qin Yi hurried toward the garage, jumped into a luxury car, and sped off toward the Red Horse Club.
Despite his speed, the distance and noon traffic in Tianhai City slowed him down. By the time he arrived, it was already 1 p.m.
“Mr. Qin, you’re here! I’ll get things arranged for you right away!” said a familiar waiter as Qin Yi entered.
Though Qin Yi spent money freely at the Red Horse Club, he was respectful to everyone there, which earned him the staff’s genuine admiration.
Qin Yi glanced at the waiter and quietly asked, “Which room is my wife in?”
“I haven’t seen her today, sir. I can check for you,” the waiter replied calmly.
Qin Yi nodded silently, understanding the waiter’s deference. The waiter immediately went to inquire about Su Xiaowan.
The Red Horse Club promoted itself as a commercial venue, and indeed, it was widely used for business meetings. But for regulars like Qin Yi, he knew there was more going on behind the scenes—something most outsiders, even Su Xiaowan, didn’t realize.
A few minutes later, the waiter returned quietly. “Eighth floor, Room 808.”
Pleased, Qin Yi patted the waiter on the shoulder. “I have other things today. Arrange it for next time.”
“You’re too kind, sir. Helping you is an honor,” the waiter said humbly.
Qin Yi nodded, then headed to the elevator.
He soon arrived at Room 808 on the eighth floor. Pressing his ear to the door, he tried to listen—but the soundproofing was excellent, and he couldn’t hear anything.
A staff member approached quietly. “Sir, you won’t hear anything from outside. The door is very solid—you can’t just kick it open.” The waiter swiped a card on the handle and quickly stepped aside.
Qin Yi understood immediately. He stepped back, calmed himself, and knocked gently.
After a moment, the door opened. Inside, Su Xiaowan on the sofa turned in surprise.
“Hubby, what are you doing here?” she asked, standing quickly. Her eyes darted nervously at him, gauging his expression.
Qin Yi ignored her words, bypassed the man opening the door, and walked toward Su Xiaowan, examining her closely.
The more he looked, the angrier he became. He noticed a wet spot on her clothes—placed in a way that suggested something scandalous.
Seeing his gaze, Su Xiaowan hurried to explain in a low voice, “Hubby, I spilled tea on myself at lunch,” and tried to reach for his hand.
