“Qinghe, you’re finally awake! You slept for an entire day! You scared me to death!
Are you hungry? We kept some food for you tonight, it’s still warm in the pot, I’ll bring it over!”
“Uh… okay.”
Wen Qinghe still had plenty of food in her space, but with so many people around, she couldn’t say she wasn’t hungry.
Hearing this, Tang Lingling went straight into the kitchen.
Only after she left did Wen Qinghe look toward the unfamiliar elder in the room.
“And you are?”
Before Li Huaqing could speak, Yan Xiao answered for him.
“This is Li Huaqing, a physician. I brought him here. To outsiders, I’ll just say he’s your relative.”
Wen Qinghe understood. Most likely because she had been asleep for too long and couldn’t be woken, he brought a doctor.
“I’m fine, just too tired, so I slept a bit longer. Sorry for troubling you!”
Li Huaqing looked at the girl who had just woken up, her eyes bright as if they contained a thousand stars, and couldn’t help but sigh. This brat sure has an eye for people!
“Girl, do you feel your body is a little lighter?”
Wen Qinghe, upon hearing this, sensed carefully. It did feel as though the heavy pressure from before had lessened quite a bit.
She had just woken up and thought maybe she wasn’t sensing things clearly…
“It’s much better, the pressure on my chest has eased a little.”
Li Huaqing stroked his beard. “Seems my acupuncture hand hasn’t gone rusty. It’s been a long time since I last held a needle…”
Wen Qinghe’s face showed both shock and unease. “You… you didn’t actually stick me with needles, did you???”
She fainted at the sight of needles—who understood how terrifying acupuncture was!
As if seeing through her fear, Yan Xiao gently comforted her.
“Don’t be afraid. His acupuncture will help your condition. Once every three days, it won’t be for long. I’ll be here each time.”
Wen Qinghe was surprised. Modern medical technology was fifty years more advanced than here, and yet, someone here could treat heart disease?
“It really can be treated?”
If that was the case, she could bear with it.
“Of course! With this old man here, as long as you don’t suffer any great shock or stimulation, I guarantee you ten years without worry.”
Seeing the girl awake, he didn’t plan to stay any longer and was just about to drag that brat out with him.
But he saw Yan Xiao staring pitifully at the girl, as if she’d disappear the next second.
Ai~ this boy still had a long road ahead!
He stood up to give the two youngsters some space.
“This old man’s already at an age where I can’t stay up too late. I’ll head back for now, and in three days I’ll come again for another acupuncture session.”
“Okay, thank you so much~”
Wen Qinghe quickly tried to get up to see him off, but Yan Xiao’s quick hands pressed her shoulder down.
“You just rest. I’ll see him off!”
The scorching warmth of the man’s palm seared through her shoulder, making her body tremble.
Even after the man had gone far outside, the heat on her shoulder still hadn’t faded.
Tang Lingling came over with the food, glanced at the now-empty room.
“Your relative left?”
Wen Qinghe didn’t recall any relatives… her period?
She hadn’t come!
Seeing her confusion, Tang Lingling reminded, “That elder gentleman!”
“Oh, oh. He had something to attend to and went back. He’ll come again in a couple of days to check on me.”
Tang Lingling thought of Yan Xiao, then looked at the delicate little face before her. One was a rough country fellow, the other a pampered city girl.
She had wanted to mention everything that man had done during this time, but facing this girl about the same age as her own younger sister, she couldn’t help but feel a twinge of pity.
So she didn’t want to push her into the tiger’s den. Besides, the two of them looked like people from different worlds.
That man liked silently giving without expecting return, so let him do so. At least Wen Qinghe wouldn’t be the one to suffer a loss. As for Tang Lingling, she wasn’t about to play matchmaker.
…
“You brat, instead of spending time cultivating feelings with your sweetheart, why are you trailing after me?”
Yan Xiao: You think I wanted to? But she was about to get up to see you out.
“It’s already late, please stay at my place tonight.”
“That won’t do! Unlike you, I’m not all alone. My wife is still waiting for me at home~”
Was this smug, boastful tone really coming from a so-called elder of noble medical ethics?
Yan Xiao: …
He regretted it now. Didn’t want to escort him anymore! Could he just go back instead!
Seeing the late hour, he went to Uncle Erniu’s house to borrow an ox cart to send him back to town.
…
By the time Yan Xiao returned from town, it was already past ten. After returning the ox cart, he looked toward the educated youth compound. The lights were already out.
He didn’t know if the girl had gone to sleep…
He hadn’t even managed to say a few words with her tonight, and now he especially wanted to see her.
…
Meanwhile, Wen Qinghe, having slept for so long during the day, couldn’t fall asleep after dinner.
She decided to go into her space to check her supplies.
And discovered that the countdown had started again, the same giant hourglass as before.
Her expression grew excited. This meant she still had a chance to go back?
Thinking back to her two transmigrations,
Could it be that every full-moon night she could return?
If that was true, that would be wonderful!
…
Her eyes fell on the large bathtub in the supply area.
Since coming down to the countryside, this body hadn’t had a proper, comfortable bath.
Here the conditions were poor and water inconvenient. Each time she only wiped herself down simply.
Fortunately, this little world was hers alone, no need to worry about privacy.
…
Ten minutes later, she was already happily soaking in the tub.
After half an hour, she got out, dried herself off, applied body lotion all over, then put on a brand-new spaghetti-strap nightdress and walked out of the space.
She had wanted to sleep on the big bed in the space, but then thought she couldn’t see outside from there.
And besides, the space’s changes had been linked to moonlight…
After the bath, she felt refreshed and light, all the dirt and weariness washed away.
Looking at the hard wooden cot in the room, she stripped off all the bedding and put it into her space, then pulled out a small mattress and plain bedsheets to replace them.
Mmm, so comfortable!
Underneath was cloud-like softness, and above was a silk quilt from her space.
This was the most comfortable night she’d had since transmigrating…
………
Yan Xiao vaulted lightly over the wall of the educated youth compound, and immediately saw a sight that made his blood boil.
Under the moonlight, the beauty in a cool spaghetti-strap nightdress glowed like jade. Snow-white soft arms, rounded shoulders, slender neck leading down to smooth, fair skin, a faintly revealed bosom like snow, a waist so slim it could be held in one hand. The hem of her dress barely covered her knees, below were delicate, smooth calves and dainty, flawless feet…
Her jade-like body lay there, so-called ice-skin and jade bones, nothing less than this.
A line of warmth flowed down his nose, which he quickly wiped away.
He shouldn’t look anymore—but at this moment, his feet refused to move, his gaze fixed on that soul-stirring figure.
He knew the girl was beautiful, but seeing her now, like fine jade glowing faintly beneath the moonlight…
In all the world, she was the only true beauty.
This must be what a real fairy looked like!
As the girl shifted in her sleep, her skirt slid upward, revealing long, supple legs crossed together, and her tender curves were on the verge of spilling out.
His entire body grew hotter, muscles tense, veins bulging.
He dared not stay any longer. With stiff steps, he fled in a hurry…
………
The night deepened, moonlight pure, the world sunk in silence.
In a simple room at the foot of the mountain, with just a bed and a table,
the shadows of branches swayed under the moon outside the window.
The man lay on the bed, his mind filled with the sight he had just witnessed. His eyes were red, chest heaving, breath growing heavier…
“Mm… Qingqing…”
