A God’s Side Hustle is Raising Cubs on Livestream Chapter 11

Sui Han knew this was a dream.

Like riding a bike, it gets easier once you’ve done it a couple of times. The second time the boy received prayers from believers in a dream, he seemed much calmer.

He lounged on the sofa, surrounded by a riot of colorful flowers, most of which he couldn’t name, but almost all of them were pink and red.

It was just that strange fragrance that was rather unforgettable. The boy wrinkled his nose with a finger and looked thoughtfully at the girl kneeling on the ground with his indifferent eyes.

“Tell me, what wish do you want to be granted?”

Sui Han’s voice was cold, but it carried an indescribable power.

The girl knelt on the cloud-like floor, not daring to look up at him, but lowered her head and spoke of her request through choked sobs.

“My brother’s name is Li Fan, and he’s gone missing.”

Li Fan was born in a small village north of Shanhai City’s suburbs. The villagers there were honest and straightforward, all farmers who worked the land.

They lived by farming, diligently guarding the land that gave them hope.

Initially, Li Fan was one of them too.

If his younger sister, Li Le, hadn’t suddenly fallen ill, Li Fan wouldn’t have gone to work in the city with Liu Dazhuang from the same village.

The siblings had a rather tragic background. Years ago, after their parents gave birth to them, they went to work in the city together, leaving them to be cared for by their grandmother in the countryside.

But not two years later, they heard that a major flood in the city had killed many people, and Li Fan’s parents were among them.

The grandmother was deeply saddened by this, and she passed away not long afterward.

That left only six-year-old Li Fan and Li Le at home. They were twins, and the village had thrown a special banquet to celebrate the Li family when they were born.

Because they were too young to work, they were raised by the kindness of the whole village.

The village chief called on everyone to help, and Li Fan and Li Le grew up day by day.

One day, Li Le suddenly lost consciousness.

The village chief and Li Fan immediately went to the village doctor’s house to find someone to take a look, but the medical skills in the small village were backward, and there were no instruments to examine the body. The doctor stroked his beard and said, “I can’t figure out this illness. She needs to be treated in a big city.”

Li Fan anxiously said, “What about the county town? Can’t we go to the county town?”

Although they had grown up, and Li Fan could do farm work, that little income wasn’t enough for them to eat, let alone go to the city for medical treatment.

They probably didn’t even have enough money for the trip, let alone leave the village.

The doctor shook his head, looking helpless. “Although I’m not a famous doctor, I know that this illness is not simple. I’m afraid they won’t be able to figure anything out in the county town either.”

Li Fan had lost his parents and grandmother one after another, and he didn’t want anything to happen to his sister. They only had each other.

He sat in the courtyard all night, his face full of worry. The next morning, he got up early and took some eggs from the chicken coop to the doctor, asking him to take care of Li Le for a while.

Li Fan decided to work in the city with Liu Dazhuang, who had returned to visit relatives, to save some money for his sister’s medical expenses.

Li Le felt sad; her voice was intermittent, and even Sui Han felt her inner sorrow.

“I… I received a phone call a few days ago. They told me that my brother was dead, saying that there was an accident on the construction site, and my brother fell into the mixer and was already…”

Li Le burst into tears.

Li Fan’s family was so poor that they couldn’t afford a phone.

The call was made to the village’s communication station. Someone who learned the news ran to Li Le’s house to deliver the message.

Sui Han felt a little sympathy for the Li family’s situation, but still couldn’t empathize. He just asked matter-of-factly, “So, what’s your request?”

The boy lowered his eyes and stared at the cluster of blooming flowers. Perhaps this was what it meant to be a god, to have a cold and rational heart in order to better deal with problems.

After all, mere sympathy wouldn’t do much good.

Li Le covered her face and cried, and after a long time, she choked out, “I only ask to know the truth about my brother’s death, and…”

She didn’t believe Li Fan was dead at all. She stubbornly believed that her brother was missing.

Sui Han caught a trace of confusion and doubt in Li Le’s eyes and tilted his head to ask, “And what?”

Li Le covered her chest. “I don’t know what other twins are like, but my brother and I seem to have a telepathic connection. I remember we once went to catch fish near the pond.”

Li Le began to tell the story.

At that time, they were still young. Li Fan saw that his sister hadn’t had a full meal for several days, so he thought about taking her to the pond to catch fish.

Although the villagers would help them, they couldn’t take care of them every meal. Sometimes, when there was difficult farm work, the villagers would go out together and neglect the siblings.

Li Fan and Li Le were both very thin.

The little boy wanted to give his sister a good meal, so he walked close to the edge of the pond.

Li Fan bent over, lowered his head, and saw a big fish swimming before him. He reached out to grab it without any skill.

But he hadn’t learned how to catch fish. He instinctively leaned forward and tried to hug the fish with both hands. The fish’s body was wet and slippery. Li Fan missed and fell into the pond.

Li Le was immediately stunned.

She stood at the edge of the pond, panicking. She wanted to go down and save her brother, but reason told her not to be impulsive. If she fell down too, wouldn’t they both be doomed!

In a hurry, she cried out loudly for help.

Fortunately, the doctor from the village was returning from a house call and happened to see it, so he rescued Li Fan ashore.

And he made them a full meal.

The moment her brother fell into the pond, Li Le’s heart was beating fast, and she felt a faint pain around her heart, and her breathing became more and more difficult, as if she had also fallen into the water.

She didn’t understand, so she carried her brother on her back to ask the doctor.

The doctor said that this was called telepathy.

Li Le wiped away her tears, her pointed little face a little turbid. She murmured, “God, if my brother is really gone, I think… I would feel it, but I don’t at all.”

The little girl was about seventeen or eighteen years old, thin, and her exposed arms were lifeless like withered grass.

But she still clenched her fists. “I don’t believe my brother is dead. Although the doctor said I’m older, this feeling may gradually decrease, but I really don’t believe it.”

“I want to see my brother, alive or dead!”

A gentle, sad light shone in Li Le’s firm eyes.

“Alright, I promise you.”

As soon as Sui Han finished speaking, Li Le’s image disappeared strangely, as if her whole body slowly turned into nothingness, and finally merged into the white mist.

Last time, when the fat uncle prayed, Sui Han was distracted and didn’t notice how the believer disappeared in the end.

But this time, he saw it clearly.

And besides that, he saw even more clearly that after he agreed to the believer’s request, a red light quickly flew out of Li Le’s body.

The light floated and swayed, squeezing into the flower bud suspended mid-air, as if nutrients were watering the flower.

Sui Han curled his lips slightly.

His little flower bud seemed to have grown a little.
