A-Level Pursuit
A-Level Pursuit chapter 41

Amidst the exclamations of the media reporters, Liang Qiuchi pulled out a pistol from his waist and without hesitation aimed it at Godwin’s foul-smelling mouth.

Godwin tried to dodge, but the bullet had already pierced through his cheek.

His face covered in blood, he fell to the ground.

Roy Reines turned to run, but his luck wasn’t as good as Godwin’s; he was shot in the head by Liang Qiuchi.

The scene of the beloved youngest son of General Reines having his brain splattered was broadcast live to all viewers of the federal television stations.

Although the live signal was abruptly cut off, that horrifying scene, filled with screams, could still be found on some websites that hadn’t been completely deleted.

Filled with grief and indignation, Liang Qiuchi wiped clean his father’s tombstone before quickly leaving the cemetery.

At that moment, his face was covered in blood, holding a gun as he walked down the street. Pedestrians screamed and scattered, as if the end of the world had come.

Liang Qiuchi wandered like a walking corpse in the streets, unable to return home, uncertain of his future.

It wasn’t until a pair of hands dragged him into an alley that he snapped out of it.

Wu Yahui threw him a set of clean clothes and cautiously glanced around the alley before urging him, “Hurry up and change, come with me out of the city.”

Liang Qiuchi wiped the bloodstains off his face and asked her hoarsely, “How did you come here?”

“I saw something happening on the way to the funeral, so I hurried to find you,” Wu Yahui saw him not moving, so she took off Liang Qiuchi’s blood-stained coat herself, “Hurry, we don’t have much time. We must leave the city before they put up roadblocks.”

Fortunately, the cemetery was not in the main city area. Liang Qiuchi got into Wu Yahui’s car, and they rushed out of San Lorenzo, smoothly leaving before the police set up checkpoints.

Two hours after the incident, the federal government officially issued a warrant for the arrest of Liang Qiuchi.

As the car stopped, Liang Qiuchi numbly watched the rapidly receding scenery outside the window. “Thank you for bringing me here,” he said.

“Where will you go if you get off? Walk with your two legs and wait for someone to catch you?” Wu Yahui glanced at him.

“I don’t want to drag you into this,” Liang Qiuchi said. “Your brother didn’t want you involved in these matters.”

“Saying these things is meaningless. We’re already in the same boat,” Wu Yahui gripped the steering wheel tightly and said softly, “Now it depends on whether you have the determination to burn your boats.”

Liang Qiuchi turned to look at her. “What do you mean?”

Wu Yahui suddenly turned the steering wheel, slammed on the brakes, and pulled the car over to the side of the road.

She turned to look into Liang Qiuchi’s eyes and said solemnly, “Come with us to Lugo.”

You guys?” Liang Qiuchi grasped the key point.

“Some of your father’s supporters, some disgruntled mercenaries who are unhappy with the federal situation, and relatives like yours and mine who died inexplicably and never got the truth,” Wu Yahui said.

“How many in total?” Liang Qiuchi asked again.

“Reliable ones, about a dozen or so,” Wu Yahui said. “They’re friends who have helped collect evidence before, and we met at the memorial service.”

Liang Qiuchi fell into silence.

Wu Yahui didn’t urge him, just waited quietly for his response.

Two minutes later, Liang Qiuchi finally nodded. “Okay, let’s go to Lugo.”

Wu Yahui slammed the accelerator to the maximum, and the car raced off again, carrying Liang Qiuchi into the night.

He watched the road signs getting farther and farther away in the rearview mirror, knowing that once he took this path, there was no turning back.

From San Lorenzo to Lugo, they would inevitably pass through the territory of Danga Province.

The dozen or so friends Wu Yahui mentioned were waiting for Liang Qiuchi to meet them at the boundary marker between Danga and Lugo.

They were all victims under the Reines’ power, complaining for years without redress and enduring oppression.

They had thought that this time, with Liang Qiuchi’s appeal, they could finally seek justice. Who would have thought that Liang Qiuchi’s father, such a high-ranking official, would also fall as a prisoner!

They finally understood that as long as the Reines family remained in power, they would not have a good life within the federation.

So when Wu Yahui asked if they were willing to go to Lugo, they almost didn’t hesitate to agree.

When Liang Qiuchi arrived at the meeting point, this group of people got out of their cars one after another, lining up and giving Liang Qiuchi a warm applause.

“You killed two little beasts today, which is a relief for them,” Wu Yahui explained to Liang Qiuchi the reason for this applause.

Liang Qiuchi couldn’t smile and just nodded in response.

Wu Yahui said, “Get in the car first. We’ll talk when we reach the border of Lugo.” Lugo had always pursued independence and autonomy, so once they entered Lugo’s territory, it meant that the federal arrest warrant was basically invalid.

Liang Qiuchi turned his head and looked at the distant lights, suddenly asking, “Is that the capital of Danga?”

“Yes,” Wu Yahui also looked into the distance. It was a beautiful city. “Do you want to go there?”

Liang Qiuchi suddenly remembered the night shifts he had spent with Mo Xin, watching the stars and the wilderness together, but never seeing such bustling lights.

Thinking about it, he felt a little regretful.

He reluctantly withdrew his gaze, closed the car door, and looked towards the endless darkness on the other side. “Let’s go.”

That’s how Liang Qiuchi followed Wu Yahui, using Roy Reines’ life as a bargaining chip, and joined the local militia in Lugo, formally rebelling against the federation.

Although Lugo was small, its people were fierce, almost to the point where everyone was a soldier.

They advocated for force, and as long as one’s ability was strong enough, they could have a say.

So even though Liang Qiuchi “changed careers” halfway through, after two or three years of frantic struggle and territorial expansion, he gradually gained some followers.

“How did you manage to rise to the leadership in Lugo?” Mo Xin didn’t believe that the original leaders of the Lugo militia would be so generous as to hand over command so easily.

Liang Qiuchi said, “It took Wu Yahui and me nearly four years to wait for this opportunity. At that time, because the Reines family was becoming increasingly greedy, demanding exorbitant prices in trade negotiations, the Lugo side was already thinking of breaking ties with them. So I had the opportunity to participate in their affairs.”

Then, with Wu Yahui’s assistance, they engaged in oil and arms trading with Reines, gradually consolidating control over Lugo’s transactions and eventually taking over completely.

“But all of this requires money.” And quite a large sum of money at that.

“The first transaction was backed by Xiang Bei’s father. As things progressed and we started making more money, we naturally didn’t need to worry about these things anymore.”

Liang Qiuchi said it lightly, but those years were spent on the edge of a knife, constantly dodging bullets, and always at risk of being set up.

When he earned enough money and accumulated enough power, he gained some influence within Lugo.

It wasn’t until a diamond transaction, where the buyers tried to double-cross them and set up an ambush around the transaction site, that Liang Qiuchi and Wu Yahui risked their lives to rescue Lugo’s leader, Peiji, from the explosives. Only then did his position within Lugo become stable.

“Peiji and I, along with Yahui jie, became sworn brothers, and he even wanted me to be the leader of Lugo,” Liang Qiuchi said helplessly to Mo Xin, “Doesn’t it sound a bit incredible?”

Mo Xin indeed thought so.

Even if the debt of gratitude was heavy, it wasn’t enough to surrender control.

“In fact, he’s very clever,” Liang Qiuchi said, “Peiji has always wanted to step back, so he took advantage of that explosion to publicly claim that he was seriously injured and unconscious, diverting the attention to me and Yahui jie, but in reality, he still has absolute power behind the scenes.”

“Why did he choose you?” Mo Xin was worried there might be a conspiracy behind this.

Liang Qiuchi thought for a moment and said, “It’s a kind of protest against the federation.”

Even if he was being used, Liang Qiuchi was willing, because he finally stood at a high position where he could talk to the federation.

This time, he wanted everyone to hear what he had to say.
