A-Level Pursuit
A-Level Pursuit chapter 50

For Mo Xin to appear in Liang Qiuchi’s room early in the morning, Wu Yahui was not surprised at all.

She just carried her favorite automatic rifle and knocked the heads of the guards outside the door with the butt of the gun, to see if they were all idiots.

“It’s a good thing it was Mo Xin who climbed in through the window last night. He’s just after your boss’s beauty. But if one day someone with other intentions sneaks in, you wooden heads will be blown apart like Liang Qiuchi’s.” The guards all lowered their heads, holding back their laughter, not daring to make a sound.

Liang Qiuchi glanced at Mo Xin’s flushed ears, invited Wu Yahui to come in and sit down, and had someone close the door.

Wu Yahui sat on the armrest of the sofa, her feet on the coffee table in front of her. After surveying the room, she meaningfully said to Liang Qiuchi, “Eat more breakfast later, to replenish your protein.”

Liang Qiuchi awkwardly cleared his throat, while Mo Xin silently pulled the window open a bit more.

“We’re all adults here, a little separation makes the reunion sweeter, I understand.” Wu Yahui’s gaze wandered between the two of them a few times, then waved her hand with a smile, “Forget it, forget it, I won’t tease you anymore, let’s talk business.”

She turned to look at Mo Xin standing by the window and asked, “Did you see the news last night?”

Mo Xin hadn’t spoken yet, but Wu Yahui already knew it was a rhetorical question.

He was definitely too busy enjoying intimate moments with Liang Qiuchi to pay attention to the outside media’s movements.

“Last night, the Federation issued a statement about negotiating the incorporation of Lugo’s armed forces and recognizing their legitimacy, and public opinion exploded.”

Wu Yahui summarized the current situation succinctly.

“Many people are not very satisfied with this result, feeling that the negotiating team is causing division. Of course, there are also supporters who believe that this is promoting peace between the two sides, avoiding the escalation of conflicts into war. More radical opinions even directly stated that the progressive federal entities do not need the Lugo, a barbaric and rude nation, to hold them back.”

Liang Qiuchi took out his phone and quickly browsed through some news and public opinion.

Just as Wu Yahui had said, regarding the outcome of the negotiations reached by both sides, there was a mixed response from the outside world, with criticism and approval alternating.

Mo Xin, as an indispensable and important figure in the negotiating team, had a high profile in the early stages of publicity – of course, this was also the result of his elder brother Mo Qi’s efforts from various angles. He hoped that this move would increase their father’s popularity in the presidential election and attract more votes.

Now that the negotiation results were out, Mo Xin naturally found himself at the center of attention.

Liang Qiuchi looked at Mo Xin with concern. “What are you planning to do?”

Mo Xin shook his head. This matter had nothing to do with him, and he hadn’t thought about making any responses.

Wu Yahui reminded him, “You’d better make some preparations and not affect your father’s reputation and image.” She rubbed her chin thoughtfully. “If utilized properly, maybe this incident can help your father win this election.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Mo Xin’s phone rang.

It was his elder brother Mo Qi calling.

Mo Qi didn’t ask where he was but instructed him to return to San Lorenzo and prepare to attend a press conference in two days.

Mo Xin asked, “What press conference?”

“Regarding the reconciliation negotiations,” Mo Qi’s words echoed what Wu Yahui had just said. “The news department will probably call you later. I’m just giving you a heads-up.”

Mo Xin hesitated for a moment, but seeing Liang Qiuchi nodding silently at him, he didn’t refuse.

“I’ll head back tomorrow.”

Mo Qi didn’t urge him further, just reminded him to stay safe outside, and then hung up the phone.

As expected, the phone from the news department rang shortly after, also wanting him to speak up.

After agreeing, Mo Xin put down his phone and asked Liang Qiuchi, “You’re not thinking of confessing at this press conference, are you?”

Liang Qiuchi shook his head with a smile. “I promised you I wouldn’t act recklessly.” He paused for a moment and then said, “But I do hope you can do me a favor.”

Mo Xin tightened his grip on the phone, not immediately agreeing.

“Tell me what it is first.”

The next evening, Mo Xin finally left “Paradise”. After walking two blocks, he hailed a taxi and went straight to his elder brother Mo Qi’s residence.

Mo Qi didn’t buy his own private house. His residence was a villa allocated by the federal government to high-ranking officials. The environment here was elegant and quiet, with top-notch security forces. The taxi could only stop far away from the gate, about a hundred meters away.

After getting out of the car, Mo Xin walked alone into the compound.

“Why didn’t you drive?” Mo Qi asked when he saw him coming alone, then asked again, “Where’s Vincent?”

“He has something to do and will come later,” Mo Xin changed his shoes at the entrance. “Can I stay here tonight?”

A hint of surprise flashed in Mo Qi’s eyes, then he happily hugged Mo Xin’s shoulder and walked with him inside. “It’s rare that you want to stay overnight. You can stay here for as long as you want, little brother.”

Mo Xin entered the living room, and Mo Qi asked him if he had dinner. He nodded. “Yes, I did.”

Mo Qi picked a good bottle of wine from the liquor cabinet and carried two glasses into the hall. “Care to join me for a drink?”

Mo Xin remained non-committal, and as Mo Qi poured the wine, he couldn’t help but glance at him a few more times then said, “You seem to be in a good mood lately.”

Is it that obvious?

Vincent also said the same words to him.

Mo Xin couldn’t help but shiver slightly, sitting up straighter on the sofa and saying, “It’s alright.” He took the glass of wine handed to him by Mo Qi, swirled it lightly, and said, “I heard that tomorrow’s press release is being given to you for review.”

Mo Qi nodded towards him, “It’s here, take a look for yourself.”

Mo Xin picked up a stack of papers from the coffee table, where the printed manuscript had been marked with several words in red ink. “Still not finalized?”

“It’s almost done,” Mo Qi sipped his wine, “it’s all official rhetoric, in short, the negotiating team has made every effort to avoid a war, maintained peace in the federation, and then you announce the lifting of the curfew in San Lorenzo, and everything will be fine.”

“Lifting the curfew?”

“Yes, it was decided in the parliament this afternoon,” Mo Qi said, “it has already affected some people’s wallets, so they naturally want to lift the curfew as soon as possible.” He raised his glass to Mo Xin, his eyebrows raised with implication, “You know what I mean.”

Many federal officials and legislators had a background in business. People like Liang Qiuchi’s father, who had risen to the political stage purely through military achievements, were few and far between.

So the prolonged curfew not only affected the lives of the lower class but also depleted the wallets of many high-ranking officials.

“But Liang Qiuchi hasn’t been caught yet,” initially, it was Reinis’s suggestion to implement the curfew in order to capture Liang Qiuchi, “can Reinis agree to lift it?”

“He’s nothing. Besides him insisting on this matter, everyone else voted in favor,” Mo Qi said with a smile, “it shows how many people Reinis has offended in the past.”

Mo Xin remained silent for a moment, then suddenly asked, “Do you think the odds of toppling Reinis are high?”

Mo Qi paused with the hand holding the wine glass, watching as the crimson liquid gradually stopped swaying in the cup before saying, “What do you mean by ‘toppling’?”

Mo Xin didn’t speak.

“Or maybe I’ll rephrase it,” Mo Qi set down the wine glass, staring at Mo Xin intently, “Was your question just now for our family, or for Liang Qiuchi?”

Mo Xin also set down his wine glass, meeting his elder brother’s gaze without reservation, “Is there a difference between the two?”
