A-Level Pursuit
A-Level Pursuit chapter 55

That evening, Godwin disguised himself and entered the red-light district, walking straight into the seemingly ordinary nightclub.

The moment he appeared, someone immediately passed the news to Wu Yahui, who was sitting at the bar.

“Hmm,” Wu Yahui sent a message to Liang Qiuchi while asking, “How many people did he bring?”

“It looks like just four.”

“Got it.” Wu Yahui sent the message and tucked her phone into her chest, then immediately took off her coat and tossed it to the messenger who had brought the news. Amidst a fervent chorus of cheers and whistles, she jumped onto the stage.

She instantly became the center of attention.

Naturally, Godwin spotted her.

He squeezed his way to the edge of the stage, pulled out two large bills, and waved them at Wu Yahui. She smiled, bent down, and let Godwin slip the money into her lingerie.

“Wanna come upstairs for a drink?” Godwin invited her.

Wu Yahui smiled at him, shaking her head. “That’s not enough money, honey.”

“Money’s not an issue, let’s go,” Godwin said, tilting his head at her. He took the lead and headed towards the stairs, but Wu Yahui didn’t immediately follow. Instead, she returned to the stage to continue her hot dance.

From the dark corner where he had been sitting all along, Mo Xin couldn’t help but ask, “What is she doing?”

“Just warming up,” Liang Qiuchi said as he sat beside him, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. With his long hair falling over his forehead and ears, he looked barely in his twenties, which momentarily made Mo Xin feel a bit surreal.

If those things hadn’t happened, would he and Liang Qiuchi have appeared in similar places one day, drinking and partying like ordinary people, immersed in love?

“What are you thinking?” Liang Qiuchi stood up and came over to him, gently rubbing his head with his warm palm. “Let’s go.”

“Yeah.”

Mo Xin reached out his hand to him, and Liang Qiuchi smiled as he took it, intertwining their fingers and walking side by side towards the stairs.

With Wu Yahui taking the lead, when she entered the private room, Godwin was already feeling a bit impatient.

“Why are you standing there? Come in.”

“Boss,” Wu Yahui leaned against the doorway, lifting the hem of her coat to cover her exquisite curves, her eyes and brows filled with seductive charm, “I can only entertain two guests at most. There are too many of you, I can’t handle it.”

“They’re just here to drink, nothing else,” Godwin waved at her, motioning her to come over. “You sit down first.”

“I don’t accompany drinks, it’s too time-consuming. I prefer to get straight to the point.” Wu Yahui threw out a dazzling smile, then turned and pushed open the door to the opposite private room.

“Geez,” Godwin muttered, “Troublesome.” He said to his subordinates who had followed, “You guys wait outside. I’ll go in and talk to her.”

“Captain, could it be a trap?”

“Why did I call you guys here?” Godwin slapped the man, “Watch the door, don’t let anyone else in. There’s only one woman inside, you think I can’t handle her?”

“Yes sir.”

Godwin walked into the opposite private room and saw that Wu Yahui had already taken off her coat and was half-leaning on the sofa, her posture enticing. He couldn’t help but feel a bit tempted.

But he remembered the task at hand and suppressed his chaotic thoughts.

“You sit down first,” Godwin sat down beside her. “Let me ask you, a few days ago during the curfew, that lover of yours, Minister Mo, did he bring anyone else with him?”

Wu Yahui paused for a moment before saying, “No, just him.”

“Tell me the truth,” Godwin’s eyes seemed to have seen through everything long ago. “Was it that person named Liang Qiuchi?” With that, he took out his phone and showed Wu Yahui a photo of Liang Qiuchi. “Is this the person?”

Wu Yahui glanced casually at the screen and denied, “I don’t know, I don’t recognize him.”

“I advise you to be sensible, cooperate with the investigation, otherwise, I’ll have to take you to the police station.” Godwin asked sternly, “When did this person with the surname Liang come to see you? How much do you know about him?”

“Well…” Wu Yahui looked uneasy, “maybe you’d better ask him yourself.”

“What?”

Before Godwin could react, Wu Yahui suddenly lifted her leg, twisted around the man’s neck, and rose up, swift and decisive. She pressed Godwin down with his face against the ground as if apprehending a criminal. Then she twisted his right hand, stabbed it with a dagger, and skillfully pierced his palm, nailing his hand to the wooden table nearby.

“Ah!” Godwin let out a piercing scream, but amidst the clamor outside and the deafening music, no one noticed his cries.

“I heard you were looking for me.” The door to the private room was pushed open, and a man wearing a black hooded shirt walked in.

Godwin didn’t even see his face clearly before he was scared into repeatedly backing away.

He cried out in fear for help, but none of his subordinates guarding outside rushed in.

Liang Qiuchi took off his hat and widened the gap in the door of the private room.

Godwin saw Mo Xin walking over from the opposite room, a few drops of blood splattered on his fair face, and his heart sank halfway instantly.

“So you’re in cahoots!” Godwin, his eyes bloodshot, glared at Wu Yahui. “And you! You dared to lie to me too!”

“You’re just being particularly stupid,” Wu Yahui stood up, kicking his twisted face with her foot. “Behave yourself and stay quiet. I have questions for you.”

“Jie, why don’t you take a break first,” Liang Qiuchi locked the door of the room and came to Gordon. “I’ll settle the score with him.”

Godwin broke out in a cold sweat on his forehead, his heart pounding almost to his throat.

“What do you want to do!” he said bravely. “Liang, you better not mess around. I warn you, I informed the bureau before coming out. If I don’t return by midnight, they’ll definitely come here!” He glanced angrily at the three people present. “And none of you will be able to escape then.”

Mo Xin coldly responded with an “Oh” and said to Liang Qiuchi, “Rush it, Ge.”

“Yeah,” Liang Qiuchi smiled at him, “As you wish.”

Seeing Liang Qiuchi’s hand reaching behind him, as if to draw a gun, Godwin’s face turned pale with fear.

“You dare to kill me?! You, you guys have some nerve!” Godwin’s tongue was no longer as sharp. “Mo Xin, as a federal official, you actually appear here with Liang Qiuchi openly. Aren’t you afraid of being found out?”

“You’re worried about the wrong things,” Wu Yahui chuckled. “Don’t worry, Captain, everyone here is on our side. Better think about whether you’ll make it out of here alive tonight.”

“Wait! Wait! You can’t kill me, you have no reason to kill me,” Godwin could only try to delay time, hoping for reinforcements. “Let’s make a deal. You let me leave here, and I promise to keep your secrets, never mentioning them to anyone!”

“Your mouth leaks like a sieve, how can you keep a secret?” Wu Yahui chuckled and nudged Liang Qiuchi with her chin. “Don’t mess it up this time.”

“I promise I won’t,” Liang Qiuchi also laughed, putting a silencer on the pistol while saying, “You’ve been nagging about this for years. If I mess up again, I won’t be able to look you in the eye for the rest of my life.”

Wu Yahui laughed heartily. “Good to know.”

Godwin panicked, almost screaming to get Liang Qiuchi’s attention. “I’m telling the truth! We can go our separate ways after this. I promise not to reveal your whereabouts!”

“You’ve offered good terms, but—” Liang Qiuchi put on the silencer and aimed the gun at Godwin’s forehead, “I just want you to pay for your sins with your life.”
