A Little Life in Another World Chapter 9

Chapter 9: A Promise

Cao Xiangnan looked at Qi Wanfeng, who was so skilled in doing these things. His nose felt a little sore. This was the first time in his life that someone had done so much for him. The home and warmth he had longed for for so long, this was the first time someone had been so good to him. He reached out and grabbed Qi Wanfeng’s hand, just looking at this man.

Husband and wife were originally birds of the same forest; they could fly away separately when disaster struck. Only in times of trouble did one know who was good to you. Qi Wanfeng was able to guard someone who was paralyzed in bed and didn’t know if there would be a future. Cao Xiangnan’s heart was both moved and pained for Qi Wanfeng, who could do this much for Cao Xiangnan. Even his own a-die and a-mu probably couldn’t do it.

“Si Lang, what’s wrong?” Qi Wanfeng looked at Si Lang, who was holding his hand, and met Si Lang’s eyes. He didn’t know when his eyes had turned red. His heart was also touched. He thought he was worried about the child in his belly, so he said, “Si Lang, it’s nothing. Don’t worry about me. I will give birth to the child safely. You need to get better. Our child needs his a-die.”

Knowing that he was pregnant again, Qi Wanfeng had originally planned to tell him after his husband came back. He didn’t expect that his husband had come back, but he was carried back and was lying on the bed in a life-or-death state. The doctor had come to see him and said that there was no hope, but he had not given up.

During these short few days, Qi Wanfeng felt as if ten or twenty years had passed. A-mu was unwilling to give him money to hire a doctor to see a doctor and buy medicine. The little money he had saved before when he married into the Cao family had been spent in these few years, leaving almost nothing. He could only secretly grab medicine. He was brewing it every day until the money on his hands was gone, which meant that her husband’s life was gone.

Qi Wanfeng was very afraid and very helpless. There were endless chores to do every day, and he didn’t have much time to come back to the house to take care of her husband. These days, no matter how a-mu scolded him there, he couldn’t let it go, and had to run back several times a day to take a look at her husband before he could rest assured.

Fortunately, the person had finally woken up now. No matter whether the future was good or bad, nothing was worse than a child being born without an a-die. As long as her husband was still alive, the child would have an a-die after birth. No matter what he asked him to do, Qi Wanfeng was willing to do it.

“I’m sorry…” Cao Xiangnan’s eyes were sour and hot. He sniffled, and then suppressed the discomfort in his heart, not letting himself cry.

In his previous life, he hadn’t shed tears since he was old enough to understand. With no parents by his side, and following a grandmother who wasn’t good to him, the children of the same age around him scolded him as a wild child, and no relatives were willing to approach him. But hadn’t he still grown up the same way, and was able to rely on himself to go to college without relying on anyone? Even when his mean-spirited grandmother left, when the only relative in the world left, Cao Xiangnan hadn’t shed a tear for it. But today, he had an impulse to shed tears.

Cao Xiangnan took Qi Wanfeng’s hand, glanced at the child who was趴 on the bedside looking at him, and said to Qi Wanfeng, “Wanfeng, I will be good to you and the child in the future, you have to believe me. I will get better, you also take good care of yourself, and the child in your belly, our days will get better.”

Qi Wanfeng looked blankly at his husband. This was the first time in so many years that his husband had looked at him like this, the first time he had said such words to him. After a long while, his heart was moved, and he “hmm” heavily, “Okay.”

He knew that her husband turned over his monthly salary to his a-mu without missing a cent. A-mu was in charge of the family’s money, and Qi Wanfeng couldn’t say anything because of this. Once he said it, it would be unfilial. It wasn’t until today that her husband was lying in bed waiting for money to see a doctor that Qi Wanfeng knew how difficult it was to get money from her a-mu. Her husband was a filial son to a-die and a-mu, and had been lukewarm to him and the child for so many years. He didn’t expect that his husband would say such a thing to him today.

“Si Lang, me and the children are waiting for you to get better, and our days will get better.” Qi Wanfeng reached out and ruffled the child’s head, pulled the child into his arms, and hugged him. No matter how difficult it was, it was not more difficult than these days.

In the days to come, there would be her husband and children, and everyone would be fine. That was better than anything.
