Chapter 33: Are you so brave?
Fu Cheng was a man, how could he not have any reaction to her actions?
He took a deep breath, picked up the clothes from the bedside table, put them on her properly, and then said slowly, “You were so scared at night that you pretended to be asleep and hid from me, how come you’re so bold during the day?”
Fu Cheng raised his hand, cupping her chin, his cool fingertips pressed against her skin, and he said lightly, “You know I won’t touch you during the day, so you’re deliberately teasing me?”
Song Shengsheng instinctively sensed danger, and she shrank back, but he pulled her back. “Where are you going? Is it too late to hide now?”
Song Shengsheng buried her face in his chest, as if that would avoid his question. She mischievously poked his waist. “I wasn’t teasing you, can’t I hug you? Can’t I hold you?”
She was always good at using sweet words to defend her bad intentions, and then she put on an innocent look. “I won’t do it again next time.”
It sounded like she was a very understanding wife.
Song Shengsheng gradually recovered her spirits, and she didn’t want to stay in his dorm anymore. It felt cold and impersonal.
She broke free from his arms and winked playfully. “Captain Fu, I’m going home now.”
Fu Cheng wanted to see her out, but Song Shengsheng didn’t want to be seen by his soldiers holding her hand.
But she couldn’t resist Fu Cheng, so she deliberately slowed down, keeping a distance, and followed him slowly.
On the way, they met other cadres from the regiment.
Song Shengsheng always acted obediently in front of her elders, looking particularly sensible, not at all like the rumors outside, that she was unreasonable and often bullied others.
The cadres from the organization department were with Lu Chenyuan, waiting for Fu Cheng to send her back.
The old cadre turned to Lu Chenyuan and said, “Look, it’s good to get married early, you should be in a hurry about your personal matters.”
This old cadre was an old friend of Lu Chenyuan’s father.
Although Lu Chenyuan’s father had sent his son to a small place like Ningcheng, he was always concerned about his son’s marriage.
He had received many calls from the capital, asking him to help mention it to Lu Chenyuan.
Now, he seized the opportunity to persuade him.
Lu Chenyuan smiled, thinking that marrying a little ancestor like Song Shengsheng and taking care of her was worse than not getting married at all.
He didn’t say anything, lest he upset the old leader.
“I know you have high standards, and Fu’s standards are definitely no lower than yours. Look at his wife, how beautiful she is. I heard she even found a job for herself. Her ideological awareness is not bad either.”
“Comrade Lu, if you keep picking, your parents will be worried to death.”
Lu Chenyuan had also heard people say that Song Shengsheng had found a job at the supply and marketing cooperative two days ago. He thought it was Fu Cheng who had arranged it for her.
But when he asked, he found out it wasn’t.
Song Shengsheng was quite capable, but Lu Chenyuan felt that her pampered nature would probably lead to news of her bullying her colleagues in a couple of days.
It was just that the old cadre didn’t know Song Shengsheng, so he kept praising her.
Lu Chenyuan smiled and said, “Okay, I’ll go on a blind date later.”
The old cadre was finally satisfied. “This way I can also explain it to your parents.”
Three days later.
Song Shengsheng officially started working at the supply and marketing cooperative.
Her work hours were also very friendly, from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm, and from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm.
She could also sit and rest when there were no customers.
The pastry chef at the pastry shop saw her at first, looking at her thin arms and legs, and said directly, “This isn’t a place to enjoy yourself.”
They couldn’t be blamed for being prejudiced.
Who could blame them, Song Shengsheng looked delicate and didn’t look like someone who could work.
Her fingers were slender and delicate.
But she was undoubtedly beautiful, and seeing her smiling face made it hard to say anything harsh.
Song Shengsheng made a batch of brittle candy at home. She generously handed the wrapped brittle candy to the chef. “Master, I made this, try it.”
The chef took a piece casually, thinking she had bought it. He put it in his mouth and tasted it. His expression changed subtly.
His eyes were no longer as dismissive and cold as before.
Not to mention anything else, this brittle candy was delicious.
It was crispy and the sweetness was just right. It also had chopped dried fruits inside, the best brittle candy he had ever eaten.
Song Shengsheng was a glutton when she was young, she wanted to eat but couldn’t.
Not only that, she was also ordered by her parents to do most of the housework, so she learned a bit of everything.
The pastries she made at home were always eaten secretly by herself.
When she was in a good mood, she would leave a little bit for her son, then lie to him and say it was bought from outside.
Her son didn’t like sweets, and he was always very sensible, and he would always give her the good stuff, saying he didn’t like it.
As for Fu Cheng, she never left any for him.
And he didn’t like sweets either.
Song Shengsheng’s best skill wasn’t making pastries, but making clothes.
In the past, there wasn’t much fabric available, but now she was inside the supply and marketing cooperative, so she didn’t have to worry about not being able to buy scarce fabrics.
Song Shengsheng’s first day at the supply and marketing cooperative.
There were quite a few people who were secretly waiting to see her make a fool of herself.
But after just one morning, everything was still calm. Nothing happened, not even the famous strict pastry chef did anything to her!
Many people left disappointed, and some who were still unconvinced couldn’t help but go into the supply and marketing cooperative to see what was going on.
Zhao Xiaoning went to the supply and marketing cooperative with Mrs. Ding.
She had taken a day off from the textile factory today. The life in the factory was a huge torture for her, who had lived a life of luxury in the new era.
Every day there was endless work.
Her butt was sore.
Her hands were sore.
Every part of her body was sore!
Zhao Xiaoning really couldn’t stand it anymore, and she gritted her teeth to hold on until she could take a day off.
Now, the only thing keeping her alive was the hope of replacing Song Shengsheng.
She would not only become the battalion commander’s wife, but also a more glamorous high-ranking official’s wife in the future.
“Your cousin is putting on a good show here, making herself quite likable.”
Zhao Xiaoning heard Mrs. Ding say this, and she realized that in just one morning, Song Shengsheng had already gotten along well with the other saleswomen in the supply and marketing cooperative.
The customers who came to buy things were also willing to go to her.
Zhao Xiaoning suppressed her jealousy. She deliberately said, “My cousin is likable to everyone as long as she doesn’t play tricks and hurt people.”
Just wait and see.
Song Shengsheng could be glamorous for a few days, but she would soon be caught stealing something.
However, in her previous life, Song Shengsheng cried with red eyes, loudly protesting her innocence, saying that she hadn’t stolen anything.
She trembled with anger and even had a big temper tantrum.
But unknowingly, this made her even more annoying.
Perhaps Song Shengsheng was really framed in her previous life.
But Zhao Xiaoning couldn’t wait for her to be framed, her reputation completely ruined.
