A Passerby, but ends up meeting the Protagonist through a Blind Date Chapter 37: At that moment, Qin Shi suddenly sensed destiny

Chapter 37 – At that moment, Qin Shi suddenly sensed destiny …

Qin Shi arrived in the team van with the whole Wolves squad.
The groom was a former league champion; the bride’s family was wealthy, so the ceremony was being held in one of C‑City’s top hotels. No media had been invited, yet the lobby still teemed with society figures—e‑sports pros included.

Wolves had traded their jerseys for tailored suits.
Qin Shi, in a midnight‑blue three‑piece that hugged broad shoulders and a narrow waist, looked lethal enough for a runway. Two minutes at the entrance and he’d already become a photo magnet.

“Not going in?” Hu Xun asked.
“Waiting for someone.”
“Who?”
Qin Shi shot him a you‑know‑who stare.
“Ah—Sister Huan‑huan.” Zhou Jian‑yu looped an arm round Hu Xun’s neck. “Single guys don’t get it; let’s head inside.”

When his teammates finally disappeared, Qin Shi exhaled, pulled out his phone—and froze. A pale‑green figure had just stepped from a taxi.

A slender cheongsam embroidered with budding peonies, jade necklace at her throat, hair pinned with a rose‑pink hairpin—Li Huan‑huan looked like a living flower. For a heartbeat Qin Shi felt… fate.

“Hello? Qin Shi, which tree are you under? Qin Shi?” Her voice came through the phone.

He hung up, cleared his throat, and coughed behind her. She turned—and stared. Suit met cheongsam; wild wolf met spring peony.

“Uh… you look… very handsome today,” she managed.
“You… look beautiful,” he replied, ears reddening.

Arm out, he offered his elbow. She hesitated, then slipped her hand through. Inside, teammates whistled, Yang the coach blinked—wasn’t that the girl he’d once tried to set up?

Later, at lunch, Li Huan‑huan nibbled sparingly—cheongsams were unforgiving.
“Not to your taste?” Qin Shi murmured without looking away from the stage.
She started to deny it; he added, “Compared with my cooking it’s far worse anyway.” She snorted a laugh.

After the banquet Qin Shi had to stay for team photos. He handed her his keycard. “Top floor suite—rest there, I’ll come when I’m free.” She waved him off and headed toward the guest rooms alone.

In the garden a few women were gossiping.
“Is that green‑cheongsam girl really Qin Shi’s girlfriend?”
“Plain as porridge—no figure, no looks. How could he like her?”

Li Huan‑huan glanced down at her supposedly “plain” silhouette and gave a wry smile. Sister, words that sharp can cut your own tongue…
