Chapter 27
What!
The evil god actually sent him flowers?
Shi Yuren was shocked. Holding the flowers, his first thought was that he must be seeing things wrong. But no matter how he looked, the card under the beautiful white roses had the name “Sang Huaiyu” written on it.
Every single word was real, no fake.
No one in this world would dare to prank using the evil god’s name, right? Shi Yu thought hopelessly: Could it be that annoying Han Chuyi dared to mess with him and wrote the card?
But would that crazy guy joke about Sang Huaiyu like this, since he really respects him?
Shi Yu took a deep breath and looked at his phone. Luckily, he hadn’t deleted Han Chuyi yet.
“Someone sent me flowers today. Do you know who it was?”
He asked carefully.
There was no reply for a long time on the phone.
No reply?
Shi Yu frowned and had just closed the door when his phone vibrated.
Two minutes later, Han Chuyi seemed to have prepared himself mentally before replying. He opened the message and saw a confused emoji from Shi Yu. Then, annoyed, he wrote: “The name is on the card, why do you still ask who sent it?”
“How do you even know Brother Sang?”
“Sang asked about you as soon as he got back, and he picked this flower bouquet just for you.”
Han Chuyi didn’t know why he was so annoyed. He stared at the phone, imagining how Shi Yu would react to the flowers.
Would he be surprised?
Surely! Who wouldn’t be happy to get such a carefully prepared bouquet?
And it was from Sang Huaiyu. Just hearing that name made people admire him.
Han Chuyi clicked his tongue, feeling like he had shot himself in the foot.
Why did he tell Shi Yu?
Shi Yu was stunned for a moment: Wait, was it really Sang Huaiyu himself?
He chose this bouquet for him?
His eyes looked at the white roses still smelling sweet nearby, his expression strange.
What was the evil god up to?
They had only met once. Why send him this? Thinking about the strange greeting at Beishan Hospital made Shi Yu feel chills. Honestly, no weird event felt as scary as this one.
Had that person not forgotten him?
But even if he remembered, why use this way? This would cause so much misunderstanding in the human world. Shi Yu stared at the flowers for a long time but didn’t understand.
The little creature inside his belly was sleeping at first, but when it sensed his mom’s strong emotions, it woke up confused by the heartbeat.
Noticing his mom didn’t see it, the little tentacle pressed its eyes to his belly and moved gently.
“Wala.”
Shi Yu snapped out of his thoughts. He was still cautious but couldn’t help looking down when his belly moved.
The little creature made a noisy “wala wala” sound, like crying and laughing, very annoying.
But Shi Yu twitched his eyelids and somehow heard a little worry in the noise.
This creepy thing was worried about him?
He paused and said, “It’s nothing.” Then looked away and frowned: “Kids always ask too many questions.”
The little creature didn’t understand and closed its mouth blankly.
After that noise, Shi Yu felt the cold all over his body ease a bit. He took a deep breath and moved the flowers to the balcony.
He wanted to throw them away, but feared it might cause some chain reaction, so he left them for now.
Thinking too much was useless. Who could know what that person was thinking?
Thinking of Han Chuyi’s angry messages on his phone, Shi Yu looked strange. For the first time, he wanted Han to experience this situation.
God only knows how scary it is to be noticed by an evil god. He really didn’t want it.
He hoped Sang Huaiyu was just acting on a whim.
…
Shi Yu wanted to ignore this matter and let it go, but he underestimated the power of this rose bouquet.
Because last time Sang Huaiyu said “love at first sight,” this action confirmed it, making even those doubtful start guessing seriously.
Could it be that he really liked Shi Yu?
That morning when Sang Huaiyu arrived at the Supernatural Association, Zhao Wen sneaked a glance. They only heard in the group chat that night that Sang sent Shi a bouquet of roses. And white roses, too?
The whole group was shocked, even those who worshipped Sang as a god.
Especially Han Chuyi… When he saw the chat, he actually left the group.
The small group chat became quiet for a moment, then the discussion got more intense, making Zhao Wen come to work with dark circles under his eyes the next morning.
He cleared his throat and, seeing teammates curious, casually asked, “Brother Sang, did Shi get the flowers you sent last night?”
“He must like them, right?”
A few people nearby pretended to pass by but their ears were alert.
Sang Huaiyu looked calm, surprised when called, but after thinking, he turned his head and said,
“Sorry, I don’t know.”
“Last time it was too rushed, I didn’t get his contact info. I don’t know if the flowers are to his taste.”
He paused on purpose.
Zhao Wen wanted to ask Han Chuyi, but remembered Han left the group angrily yesterday and swallowed the words.
Outside, Wang Shan remembered: “I think I have Brother Shi’s contact.”
After strange events, ordinary people usually add a contact from the Supernatural Association just in case. Because once something weird happens, it can happen again.
Though no science proves it, data shows people who meet strange events are more likely to meet them again, so the association takes it seriously.
Shi’s original contact was Wang Shan. Somehow, by mistake, he also added Shen Yan and Han Chuyi.
Hearing Sang say he didn’t have Shi’s contact, Wang Shan stopped pretending and took out his phone.
Since Brother Sang seemed eager to pursue Shi, why not switch the contact to Brother Sang? The first supernatural person is much stronger than ordinary people; he’d definitely answer.
Sang Huaiyu only said it casually, but seeing Wang Shan’s enthusiasm, he looked at the phone and smiled faintly:
“Then please do.”
“But,” he paused, thinking of Shi’s dislike for him, “we need to ask Shi’s opinion first.”
“Good thing Brother Sang reminded me, I almost forgot.”
Wang Shan scratched his head: “I’ll ask Shi now.”
…
That night, Shi Yu just finished showering and was about to start a livestream when his phone vibrated several times.
Hmm?
Someone messaged?
But since the livestream was about to start, Shi didn’t open it immediately.
It was a friend’s message. No call meant it wasn’t urgent.
Making money was more important!
Wang Shan waited a long time but got no reply.
Feeling awkward, he said: “Maybe Shi is busy.”
“When he replies, I’ll pass it on.”
“No problem, go ahead.” Sang nodded and smiled as he left.
His expression under the white silk was hard to read.
Even if no reply came, he thought… with Shi’s personality, he probably wouldn’t add him.
Sure enough, after a one-hour eating livestream that afternoon, Shi, feeling a bit hungry again, showed off his hotpot feast. Then he happily put down his cup and picked up his phone to see who messaged him.
Surprise! It was Wang Shan from the Supernatural Association.
“Brother Shi, the association requires every event participant to have a contact person.”
“Would you mind changing your contact recently?”
Change contact?
Shi was confused. Why change it now? He didn’t really need to contact anyone often.
Looking at Wang Shan’s profile picture, he asked, “Did something happen?”
“Can’t contact you recently?”
He still had Shen Yan and the newly added Han Chuyi on his phone, so it shouldn’t be a big problem.
With the little creature inside, he was somewhat able to protect himself after strange events.
Wang Shan quickly replied: “No problem.”
“It’s just…” Wang hesitated, “someone else wants to get to know you.”
???
Shi was very confused. Someone else wanted to know him? That sounded weird.
At first, he thought it might be a fan from his eating livestream.
But it didn’t seem like that. Who was it?
“May I ask who?”
After typing, his eyes looked at the white roses on the balcony.
The reply came: “You should know.”
“The Sang who sent you flowers last night.”
The air grew heavy. Shi stared at the phone, feeling weird. From yesterday to today, everything was so scary.
Sang Huaiyu wanted to… get to know him? What kind of scary joke was this?
Just sending flowers was scary enough. If he also got the contact info, Shi wouldn’t even dare to sleep.
Shi twitched his mouth. Not knowing why this evil god noticed him recently, he tried to act normal and politely said, “No need.”
“I’m a bit socially anxious, so I usually don’t add strangers.”
That should be enough, right?
Wang Shan should understand what he meant by that, right?
Shi Yu let out a sigh of relief and put his phone face down. He thought he was pretty brave for sending that message.
Did he just reject the “evil god”?
He bit his lip slightly and looked uncertain.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Wang Shan was stunned after reading Shi Yu’s reply.
Wang Shan: “…”
Wait, does that mean Mr. Shi doesn’t want to exchange contacts?
He hadn’t expected to be rejected.
He looked confused and turned to a coworker, “Did Mr. Shi not see the face of that person?”
Even if not the face, he should have seen the resume. That should be enough to make him want to get to know the guy.
Zhao Wen, who was being looked at, shook his head. “Don’t ask me, I don’t know either. It’s the first time I’ve seen someone reject Mr. Sang.”
The two looked at each other and fell silent at the same time.
Han Chu Yi didn’t expect Shi Yu to actually reject Sang Ge. After leaving the group chat yesterday, he went to the racetrack with a gloomy face and drove all night. Even now, he was still in a terrible mood.
When he came back holding his helmet and overheard Zhao Wen and Wang Shan whispering, he stopped and frowned. “What are you two talking about?”
Already hot-tempered, the young master looked even more irritated now.
Zhao Wen glanced up and saw his face, then hesitated. “Don’t get mad when I tell you.”
They knew Han Chu Yi took anything related to Sang Ge very seriously. He had been furious yesterday. If he found out today that Sang Ge asked for Shi Yu’s contact info again, he might explode.
Han Chu Yi scoffed. “Just say it.”
“What could I possibly not be allowed to hear?”
So Zhao Wen told him.
“We tried to change Mr. Shi’s contact person to Mr. Sang this afternoon. But Mr. Shi refused.”
What?
Han Chu Yi replayed what he heard in his head to confirm.
So basically, they tried to give Shi Yu Sang Ge’s contact, and he said no?
Han Chu Yi couldn’t believe it. He almost laughed out loud before stopping himself.
After noticing Zhao Wen and Wang Shan staring at him confusedly, he coughed and double-checked:
“You’re saying he rejected him?”
Wang Shan nodded. “See for yourself.”
He handed his phone over, and Han Chu Yi took a look.
When he saw Shi Yu’s message about being socially anxious and not adding strangers, a smile appeared on his face. Then he quickly wiped the smile off.
“Got it,” he said.
Then he turned around. “Why are you two whispering during work?”
“Have you finished investigating the case at Hao Lai Building?”
“Forget it, I’m leaving.”
He took his helmet and went upstairs.
Zhao Wen was left confused, face full of mixed emotions.
Did the sun rise from the west today? What was that about?
“Is he going crazy from anger?” Zhao Wen asked.
Wang Shan thought for a moment. “Maybe he’s just happy that Mr. Shi didn’t accept Mr. Sang.”
That seemed like the only possibility. The two of them shrugged and went back to work on the case.
Meanwhile, after going upstairs, Han Chu Yi started to calm down. He felt like some of the gloom from last night had lifted.
He looked at his phone and thought: Shi Yu didn’t lie to him.
Is this guy really not interested in Sang Ge?
Maybe… should he be the one to message Shi Yu first?
They hadn’t spoken since he gave Shi Yu flowers last night. Han Chu Yi was just thinking this when he saw Shen Yan coming out of the exam room. He frowned and put his phone away.
Shen Yan, who had sharp eyesight, had caught a glimpse of the name “Shi Yu” on the phone screen.
He was surprised. He thought Sang Huaiyu had already sent Shi Yu flowers—why hadn’t Han Chu Yi deleted his contact?
That didn’t seem like something he would do.
He gave Han Chu Yi a curious look, but quickly looked away when Han Chu Yi noticed.
Han Chu Yi didn’t care where Shen Yan had gone. He just brushed past him.
Back in the office, Shen Yan kept thinking about the name he saw: Shi Yu.
That name kept popping into his head. Even though he hadn’t watched Shi Yu’s livestream in a week, he couldn’t help but curl his fingers slightly in reaction.
He glanced at the computer again.
He had just gotten his medical results from the exam room, and his sleep problems had returned after a short break.
The constant exhaustion followed him. Shen Yan took a deep breath. Even though Sang Huaiyu had admitted liking Shi Yu, he knew he shouldn’t keep watching Shi Yu’s livestream and using his voice like a mental comfort.
But… his body craved it.
For the first time, Shen Yan realized he wasn’t as disciplined as he thought.
Torn between guilt and self-control, someone who always kept distance from others and had only mildly respected Sang Huaiyu before, opened his computer.
Shi Yu’s familiar voice came through. Even though it was just normal livestream talk, Shen Yan visibly relaxed. Even the pain at his temples faded.
He watched the replay all the way to the end. Finally, he forced himself to stop and close the livestream. He closed his eyes and rested for a bit.
The next morning, Shi Yu woke up and found another large tip in his stream account?
The top viewer who hadn’t shown up during last night’s livestream had apparently tipped him again, and it was a big amount.
He was stunned. He thought that person had left his stream forever. Turns out they were still around.
Maybe they were just quietly watching without speaking. He shook his head and thought about the things he’d just bought. Thanks to that viewer and the game sponsor, he could finally afford his pregnancy check-up.
Last time he booked a medical robot and gave it a bad review after getting the results.
But soon after, he felt embarrassed and canceled the review. Last night, he even submitted a full purchase request.
Yes, Shi Yu decided to fully buy the medical robot, so he could check himself anytime.
After all, the thing in his belly was a little monster. He needed to keep an eye on it.
Right after paying the huge amount, the robot’s comment section was filled with question marks. Everyone thought he was crazy.
“Does this guy have something wrong with his brain?”
Shi Yu: …
It’s not just my brain. My stomach is messed up too!
That stupid little monster ate all his savings. He had planned to save up to buy a car, but now he was spending it all on pregnancy supplies!
Looking at his remaining balance, which could only support a few more months of living, Shi Yu couldn’t help but twitch his lips. Ever since this little thing came along, he had to start living frugally—he even had to go hunt for food sometimes. It was like being a single mom.
If only he wasn’t a guy, he’d totally look the part!
He took a deep breath. After completing the full purchase, the robot’s full functions were unlocked.
Now it could not only scan him, but also monitor the condition of the little monster inside, especially its growth.
Shi Yu looked at his belly and hesitated. Should he do another scan today?
He got up, walked to the robot, and turned it on.
Luckily, the robot was just as cheerful as always, which made him feel less awkward.
“Good morning. I want a deep scan.”
The robot quickly responded. After asking routine questions, it arranged the checkup based on the last results.
Shi Yu didn’t know what exactly the deep scan could detect, or if it could really read the little monster’s condition, but he prepared himself.
As the machine started buzzing, the little monster inside his belly, just waking up, pressed against Shi Yu’s stomach, irritated by the noise.
Faced with the fully-activated robot, something weird happened. The robot suddenly froze, its buttons spinning rapidly. After a while, it stuttered:
“Please stand in the designated area.”
“Second scan beginning.”
“…Scan failed.”
“Device interference… Please take caution.”
The robot glitched like it was breaking down.
Shi Yu: ???
Device interference?
Was it because of the thing in his belly?
He looked down, but his stomach looked completely normal—no difference at all.
He tried restarting the robot. But again, it glitched and broke down.
“No signs of life detected.”
“Warning, warning!”
Shi Yu: …
Case closed.
That brat!
He spent a fortune on this medical robot, and the kid’s using it as a toy?!
