Chapter 7

There was a big question mark in Shi Yu’s head. How did this guy know he had just been crying?

He clearly didn’t cry!

Feeling confused by the question, Shi Yu couldn’t help but subconsciously touch the corner of his eye, looking puzzled.

“Is there something wrong with your eyes?”

Han Chu Yi: …

Tsk, still won’t admit it.

Those round, cat-like eyes of his droop when he’s sad—it was really obvious.

From the first time Han Chu Yi saw this guy, he thought his eyes looked like a cat’s. And after being scared just now, he looked even more like one. No one knew that the usually proud and cold young master secretly liked cats. But animals didn’t like him. After fusing with mutated wolf bones, his aura changed, and even cats within miles avoided him.

Han Chu Yi got tired of it and gave up on trying to keep a cat. He even stopped watching cat videos. But today, this masked livestreamer somehow triggered that old habit in him a little.

The elevator was very quiet. Even breathing could be heard clearly. Han Chu Yi lightly coughed and didn’t say anything more.

Standing behind him, Wang Shan and Zhao Wen quickly wiped the sweat from their foreheads and exchanged a glance, holding their breath. They thought young master Han was about to cause trouble again. Luckily, he quieted down.

Shen Yan was leaning against the other side. After hearing what Han Chu Yi said earlier, he glanced up. When Shi Yu noticed, he quickly looked away.

He really hadn’t cried.

It’s just that the young man’s skin was thin and sensitive. He wasn’t good at hiding his emotions, so even a small mood change showed on his face—especially his eyes.

Shen Yan swallowed slightly and thought about how Shi Yu had snapped back at Han Chu Yi just now. He couldn’t help but smile a little, though nobody saw it since he was standing by the side of the elevator.

After more than a minute, the elevator finally reached the ground floor. The moment the display showed “1,” Shi Yu hurried out. He didn’t want to stay one more second in the same space as that weirdo “male supporting character number 3.” Who knows what nonsense he’d say next?

Han Chu Yi kept watching Shi Yu. When the young man with cat-like eyes left, he gave a small snort.

Why run? It’s just a pair of eyes worth a second look—not like he was dying to see them.

Shi Yu didn’t care what Han Chu Yi was thinking. After getting in the car, he glanced around and decided to sit beside Zhao Wen in the back seat.

Wang Shan was driving, and Doctor Shen, who had stayed up all night, was in the front passenger seat.

Only one seat was left now. Han Chu Yi frowned and sat down on the left.

Zhao Wen, now stuck in the middle, was extremely nervous. Luckily, young master Han was probably in a bad mood. After getting in, he didn’t say a word. He closed his sharp phoenix eyes, leaned back, pulled down his hat, and went to sleep—like his earlier attention to Mr. Shi was all a dream.

Shi Yu blinked. “What’s wrong? Aren’t we going?”

He suddenly spoke.

Wang Shan snapped back to reality through the rearview mirror and laughed awkwardly.

“Let’s go.”

“I just checked the route on the GPS.”

“Oh, by the way, Mr. Shi, we’re headed to the headquarters of the Ability Users Association. That location is a secret. So once you’re in the car, we have to blur your senses.”

This was to stop normal people from accidentally leaking important info. After all, strange abilities exist, and someone might have the power to read memories. If that happened and they learned the location of the HQ, the entire Association could be exposed.

So the HQ was extra careful about this.

Shi Yu didn’t object. It made sense to him. In fact, if they’d let him in too easily, he would’ve suspected something was wrong.

He nodded. “Should I close my eyes then?”

Wang Shan laughed, “Hahaha, no need, Mr. Shi. Just blink again and see.”

Shi Yu closed and opened his eyes slightly. He looked confused—and then looked outside. To his surprise, the view outside was the same as the scenery under his own apartment building!

But he was sure the car had been driving for a while already. Yet the outside hadn’t changed at all.

So amazing!

Even though he had already seen the weirdness of the “undeliverable package,” experiencing something like this still felt unbelievable.

“Is this because of those devices you guys are carrying?” Shi Yu asked curiously.

Seeing Mr. Shi finally show some interest, Wang Shan proudly raised his eyebrows.

“Nope.”

“This is Doctor Shen’s ability.”

Shen Yan’s mysterious power was “mind sensing,” but it could do more than just scan the environment. It could also blur people’s senses, change thoughts, and even control people and strange beings. But even though he’d been on the team for a long time, no one in the Ability Users Association had seen him actually use the control part. The sensing functions were already more than enough.

So it was Doctor Shen?

Shi Yu was a little surprised. He rubbed his eyes and sat back, saying sincerely:

“Doctor Shen is amazing.”

His clear young voice didn’t have any hidden meaning—he was just agreeing with Wang Shan.

But sitting in the front seat, Shen Yan couldn’t help but glance at him through the mirror.

Once again, the livestreamer’s voice somehow calmed his nerves. He pressed the bridge of his nose, thinking about that voice. When he realized he had spaced out, he frowned a little.

After about an hour of driving, they finally arrived at the Ability Users Association headquarters. Shi Yu’s senses had been blurred the whole ride. At first, he thought it was cool and interesting, but after seeing the same scenery over and over, he got bored and almost fell asleep leaning against the window.

Luckily, just as he was dozing off, he heard a voice.

“We’re here.”

Wang Shan parked the car in the lot and unbuckled his seatbelt.

Shi Yu opened his eyes and saw that Han Chu Yi had already gotten out of the car without him noticing. Now only he and Dr. Shen were still inside.

“You’re awake?”

“Sorry, I fell asleep,” Shi Yu quickly sat up, a little embarrassed.

“It’s fine. We just got here,” Shen Yan said after checking the time. “There’s still time. The staff on duty haven’t left yet.”

“Oh, that’s good.” Shi Yu nodded, half-understanding, and got out of the car with Dr. Shen.

Han Chu Yi, wearing a baseball cap, stood with his arms crossed, looking at him.

“Let’s go in.”

Shi Yu: …

How was he supposed to walk in like this? He pressed his lips together. The next moment, the blurred sense over his vision disappeared. He closed his eyes briefly and when he opened them, his sight was clear again.

Right in front of him stood a tall white building that looked very high-tech. But it didn’t seem like there were many people inside.

It was 8 p.m., and the lobby was empty. Shen Yan suddenly spoke, “Usually, the ability users aren’t at headquarters. They only come here to hand in their tasks.”

After saying that, he looked at Wang Shan.

“You take Mr. Shi inside for the check-up.”

Shen Yan had insomnia, and staying awake from yesterday until now was already a struggle. Wang Shan nodded, “Mr. Shi, come with me.”

Shi Yu didn’t object. Han Chu Yi looked like he was about to say something when Shen Yan suddenly said, “Huai Yu came to headquarters.”

That one sentence made Han Chu Yi stop walking.

“Sang-ge came?” Why hadn’t anyone told him?

Han Chu Yi’s expression changed a little. He looked suspicious.

Why was Shen Yan telling him this?

Didn’t he know Shen Yan had a thing for Sang-ge? Last time they were on a mission, Sang-ge casually gave him a piece of chocolate, and this guy still kept it like a treasure.

And now he was being kind enough to share news about Sang-ge? Really?
