Chapter 14: Subverting Mo Zhu
Dujian increasingly admired her young lady. She had been worried that the old lady of Rongjintang would cause trouble for her.
After all, the masters in the residence had all been poisoned, and only the young lady was fine. Wasn’t that obviously telling others that she was the one who poisoned them?
Until the young lady told her that they had been poisoned by the toxic pre-rain Longjing tea, which was a gift from Consort Chi.
If this became a big deal and Consort Chi found out that they had privately withheld Tang Chuyao’s reward, it would be a huge problem!
Moreover, how could they dare to spread news about a poisoned reward from the palace? Unless they wanted to court death!
They were in a situation where they had to swallow their grievances in silence, unable to voice their complaints.
“Miss, should I spread the news about Gu Huaifeng and Tang Chuying?” Dujian asked.
“No need to rush,” Tang Chuyao replied, her lips curling slightly as she played with a small medicine bottle in her hand.
At that moment, Yinghe brought in breakfast, but before Tang Chuyao could start her meal, the system’s voice exploded in her mind like a thunderclap.
“Ding~ Ding~ Warning! Warning!”
“Detected that there is a large amount of drug in the chicken porridge in front of you, host!”
As the system issued the warning, Tang Chuyao also caught a whiff of an unusual smell.
Since her rebirth, her sense of smell had become much more sensitive.
That smell was definitely the scent of a drug!
Tang Chuyao silently sniffed a couple more times, memorizing that scent.
After serving breakfast, Yinghe exited the room, leaving Dujian alone to attend to Tang Chuyao.
The drug in the breakfast was definitely not put there by Yinghe; she was well aware of Yinghe’s loyalty to her!
So, the only one in the courtyard who could have done this was Mo Zhu!
It seemed that after resting for three days, Mo Zhu’s mouth injury had healed, and she was back to her old self!
Sure enough, the system’s voice continued, “Host, Mo Zhu is outside the window.”
Tang Chuyao set down the bowl of soup in her hand and exchanged a glance with Huang Xiaoyu.
Huang Xiaoyu immediately understood Tang Chuyao’s meaning and quietly left the room…
Before long, Mo Zhu was thrown into the room by Huang Xiaoyu, her face filled with terror as she looked at Tang Chuyao and Huang Xiaoyu, her mouth opening and closing but unable to make a sound.
“Swish!”
In the moment Mo Zhu’s mouth opened, a pill was thrown into her throat. She immediately tried to use her fingers to push it down her throat, but her hands were restrained by Huang Xiaoyu, making it impossible for her to escape.
She made a muffled “woo woo…” sound.
Tang Chuyao played with the small white porcelain bottle in her hand and said nonchalantly, “Mo Zhu, what you just ate is called Full Moon Disorientation!”
“With no antidote, being under its effect for a month will cause you to be confused and mad, unable to serve your master, or even take care of yourself, like not being able to dress or going to the toilet everywhere…”
Mo Zhu was terrified and immediately crawled on her knees to Tang Chuyao, her face smeared with tears and snot, continuously bowing to Tang Chuyao.
“Senior sister, please release her mute acupoint!”
Huang Xiaoyu reached out and pressed on Mo Zhu’s body, and Mo Zhu was immediately able to speak, “Miss, spare my life!”
“Miss, all of this is the plot of that young lady! It was she who instructed me to drug you, planning to arrange for someone to ruin you and destroy your reputation after you fainted…”
Mo Zhu didn’t wait for Tang Chuyao to ask questions; she confessed everything.
Tang Chuyao remembered that the last time a thief had entered her Falling Cherry Pavilion, she had been lucky enough to be saved by a masked person.
That thief was probably arranged by Tang Chuying!
She wondered if it was because of her rebirth that Tang Chuying had planned for a thief to ruin her reputation much earlier!
Tang Chuyao looked coldly at Mo Zhu, “Mo Zhu, you are a smart person! You know what you should do and what you shouldn’t!”
“As long as you obey, I will regularly give you the antidote!”
Mo Zhu trembled all over, her forehead pressed against the ground, not daring to look up at Tang Chuyao. Upon hearing Tang Chuyao’s words, she suddenly raised her head and bowed several times before Tang Chuyao stopped her.
After Mo Zhu left, Dujian frowned and said, “Miss, since Mo Zhu is like this, why should we keep her by our side?”
Tang Chuyao explained, “If we don’t keep Mo Zhu, there will be others!”
“Rather than having Aunt Mei arrange for a stranger, it’s better to keep Mo Zhu. After all, this Mo Zhu can’t escape my grasp!”
Dujian thought about it and nodded, then asked, “Miss, how should we respond next?”
Tang Chuyao’s lips curled up, and she spoke a few words softly, “Use their plan against them!”
Before long, Mo Zhu exited the Falling Cherry Pavilion and relayed the news to Bixiang. After Bixiang learned that Mo Zhu had succeeded, she instructed Mo Zhu to bring in a disguised little servant into the Falling Cherry Pavilion.
After seeing Mo Zhu bring someone into the Falling Cherry Pavilion, Bixiang hurried back to Ziying Pavilion, “Miss, Mo Zhu has succeeded! Young Master Biao has entered the Falling Cherry Pavilion!”
At this moment, Tang Chuying’s face was not looking good; she appeared somewhat pale and weak!
She hadn’t been able to eat or drink properly for the past few days and truly felt exhausted.
However, upon hearing that Mo Zhu had succeeded, her spirit lifted, and a vicious glint flashed in her eyes.
“Go notify Mother!” In the absence of outsiders, Tang Chuying referred to Mei Xiao’e as her mother.
After Bixiang left to carry out her order, Tang Chuying had someone help her with her makeup; she was going to enjoy a good show!
“Junior sister, how should we deal with this person?” Huang Xiaoyu stepped on someone’s face.
The person had already fainted and was completely unconscious.
This person was Aunt Mei’s nephew, named Mei Changchao. The Mei family relied on Mei Xiao’e’s support, making them what one might call leeches!
Seeing that familiar face, Tang Chuyao couldn’t help but think back to her previous life.
In her last life, Mei Changchao often came to the residence to take advantage of them and frequently harassed her.
Although Tang Chuyao had a large “birthmark” on her face, it didn’t stop Mei Changchao from teasing her!
It was likely that Mei Changchao knew that the spots on her face were caused by poison from Tang Chuying, so he didn’t mind at all!
Because Mei Changchao was Mei Xiao’e’s own nephew, Tang Chuyao had taken care of him a lot in her previous life, giving him plenty of gold and silver to support the Mei family!
She even used her maternal grandfather and aunt’s connections to secure a minor position as a messenger in the Golden Guard for Mei Changchao.
It was this foolish act of hers that gave Tang Chuying and the others an opportunity to frame her maternal grandfather’s family, leading to the complete destruction of her maternal grandfather’s family in her previous life!
Thinking back now, she realized just how foolish she had been!
Tang Chuyao looked coldly at the unconscious Mei Changchao on the ground, devoid of any sympathy, “Sister, please run an errand for me and send this person to the horse-tethering stable. I want him to wish he were dead!”
Although Huang Xiaoyu didn’t understand why Tang Chuyao harbored such deep hatred for this person, she said nothing and took the unconscious Mei Changchao away…
