A Second Chance: Married to the Regent Prince Chapter 22

Chapter 22: Mama Rong

The person who arrived was Aunt Zhilang, the accompanying maid of the Noble Concubine, and also her confidante!

Everyone in the Yongyong Duke’s Mansion respectfully waited for Aunt Zhilang to speak.

Zhilang only smiled when she saw Tang Chuyao appear. She said to everyone, “Miss has already come of age and needs to learn some things about managing the household. The Noble Concubine has specially sent two mamas to teach Miss how to manage the dowry left by Madam!”

Tang Youze and the others looked grim. They thought the Noble Concubine had sent gifts to Tang Chuyao, but they didn’t expect that she would finally intervene in the matter of the dowry!

As soon as Zhilang finished speaking, two mamas stepped forward and bowed to Tang Chuyao.

“Eldest Miss, this is Mama Rong, and this is Mama Li.” Zhilang introduced them to Tang Chuyao, “They will help you manage the dowry left by Madam.”

The two mamas bowed to Tang Chuyao at the same time, “This servant greets Miss!”

Tang Chuyao reached out to help the two mamas up, her smile sincere, “Then I will trouble the two mamas.”

On one side, Tang Chuyao was chatting warmly with the two mamas, while on the other side, Tang Youze’s face turned ugly for a moment, but he didn’t lash out.

The old lady’s face was kind, revealing no emotion.

Zhilang sent them off and left…

Tang Chuyao was about to arrange for Yinghe to take the two mamas to the courtyard to rest and then prepare two rooms for them.

Mama Rong spoke first, addressing the old lady, “Old Lady, since this servant is here by the Noble Concubine’s order to help the Eldest Miss manage the dowry, then let’s begin the handover now!”

Mama Rong’s tone, although respectful, was not polite at all. Her words left no room for the old lady to refuse!

The old lady’s face immediately turned bad, but she dared not say anything. She could only appease her, “The two mamas have had a long journey. Why don’t you rest first? Tomorrow, I will have someone bring the account books for you to look over!”

“No need! This servant is a slave, not so precious. Please, Old Lady, do the handover today!”

Mama Li also stepped forward, her face kind but her tone unwavering.

The old lady saw that there was nothing to talk about. But if she had to hand over all the shops and fields, how could she bear it?

She was a little anxious and fainted…

Tang Chuyao wasn’t surprised at all. This was the old lady’s usual trick.

The two mamas were also very annoyed. They had never seen such a scoundrel! She actually did this in front of them!

Tang Youze quickly bowed to the two mamas, “The two mamas, please don’t press too hard. My mother is unwell. I hope you can let the old master invite a doctor!”

There were still many people watching at the gate. If it got out that the Noble Concubine’s people had made the old lady of the Yongyong Duke’s Mansion sick, wouldn’t that cause trouble for the Noble Concubine?

They would think they were bullying people!

“Father, don’t worry, let me handle this!” Tang Chuyao stepped forward calmly.

She took a finger-long silver needle from her sleeve. The needle gleamed in the sunlight, making people shudder!

“You rebellious girl, what are you trying to do?” Tang Youze roared.

“Your ancestor has fainted from anger, and you’re holding a needle with malicious intent. Are you trying to murder your ancestor?”

Tang Chuyao ignored Tang Youze and quickly, accurately, and decisively stabbed the old lady’s acupoint. She heard a scream from the ground, “Ah~~”

“You little wretch! You actually stabbed me!” The old lady instantly stood up from the ground, her voice strong as she shouted at Tang Chuyao.

Tang Chuyao smiled slightly, “So, Ancestor, you were faking it! But your voice is so loud, it doesn’t sound like you’re sick at all!”

The crowd of onlookers grew larger, and some people whispered among themselves.

“This old lady is clearly faking it!”

“Yeah! Look at how she got up just now. She doesn’t look sick at all!”

“They say the Yongyong Duke’s eldest daughter is ugly and has no manners. I think the Eldest Miss has a noble air about her every move!”

“The old lady was just scolding the Eldest Miss, right? But look at the Eldest Miss, she’s still smiling, not angry at all!”

“I think so too. The Eldest Miss was still smiling when she was being scolded in public. Her temperament is too gentle!”

The old lady’s face turned green and white, a very interesting sight.

“Since the Old Lady is fine, then let’s begin the handover of Miss Chi’s dowry today!” Mama Li continued.

The old lady thought that after this incident, the two mamas would temporarily drop the matter. She didn’t expect them to be so persistent!

The whispers in the crowd grew louder.

“I heard that after the Eldest Miss’s mother passed away, the dowry has been managed by the Old Lady and Aunt Mei. All these years have passed, and the Eldest Miss is already grown up, yet they still hold onto the dowry and won’t give it back!”

“Exactly! I think this old lady just doesn’t want to give it back!”

“She doesn’t even care about the mamas from the palace!”

“Embezzling her daughter-in-law’s dowry. If this is confirmed, the old lady will probably be thrown in jail!”

The old lady also heard the whispers in the crowd. Her face turned very bad. She had to get these two mamas into the mansion first!

“The two mamas are joking. I’m just worried about the eldest girl. Since the Noble Concubine has given her orders, the two mamas, please follow me!”

After saying that, the old lady turned and walked towards Rongjin Hall, supported by Anxiang.

Mama Rong and Mama Li exchanged glances and followed…

Tang Chuyao looked up at the tree not far away, then turned and left with Dujian, not looking at Tang Youze or Aunt Mei at all.

Tang Youze narrowed his eyes, his gaze flashing with a hint of ruthlessness as he watched Tang Chuyao leave!

Aunt Mei pulled on Tang Youze’s sleeve, her face full of worry, “Husband, what should we do?”

Tang Youze was flustered and pulled back his sleeve, shouting at Aunt Mei, “How should I know?”

Aunt Mei looked at Tang Youze’s departing figure with resentment, muttering under her breath, “When it was time to spend money, you didn’t say anything. Now that something has happened, you don’t care!”

Tang Chuying was also very annoyed! She wanted to attend the Begging Festival next month, and she needed beautiful jewelry and clothes!

Tang Chuyao returned to her courtyard, and Gu Qingchen was still there!

Shouldn’t the Regent be busy with his affairs?

Why was he so free?

Gu Huaifeng’s cheeks were already flushed red, and his whole body was trembling!

Tang Chuyao felt a wave of contempt. That’s it?

Just a horse stance, and he couldn’t hold on for long?

Back in her days at Xiaoyao Valley, her master would make them stand in a horse stance for at least two hours every day!

She could always persevere without fail. She couldn’t understand how she could have ever liked such a thing!

She had really been blind!

Oh, no, it was blindness that made her like Gu Huaifeng!

Gu Qingchen was a thousand times better than Gu Huaifeng!

Thinking about this, Tang Chuyao looked at Gu Qingchen with a hint of admiration that she hadn’t even noticed herself!

Gu Qingchen was feeling depressed. The little one would rather go to the Noble Concubine than come to him for help?

Wasn’t the Regent her savior? Shouldn’t that be more important than anything else?

Forget it, for the sake of her acknowledging her mistake, he would forgive her this time!

Gu Qingchen coughed lightly, and the displeasure in his heart was swept away by Tang Chuyao’s admiring gaze!
