Chapter 5: Teaching Mo Zhu a Lesson
Tang Chuyao sat in front of the vanity mirror, staring at her reflection. The left side of her face was marred by a large dark red blotch, obscuring her original appearance, while the right side had waxy yellow skin, a face full of freckles, and dark circles under her eyes. Upon closer inspection, her forehead even had a slight darkening; no matter how she looked at it, she resembled a complete unfortunate!
Suddenly, the image of Gu Qingchen kissing her face flashed in her mind, and she quickly shook her head to dispel that horrifying thought.
Her figure was thin, and the loose-fitting dress only made her look more haggard and frail…
Tang Chuyao couldn’t help but sigh. How did she not notice her miserable appearance in her previous life?
She had been completely focused on pleasing her scummy father, her aunt, and Tang Chuying, and after marrying, she continued to curry favor with the scummy man Gu Huaifeng!
Just as she finished grooming, Mo Zhu hurriedly ran in, “Miss, the second young lady is coming soon. Quickly, come with me to greet her.”
Upon hearing this, Dujian’s expression darkened instantly, and she scolded Mo Zhu angrily, “You’re being outrageous!”
“The young lady is the legitimate daughter of the Wen Yongbo family; how can she lower herself to welcome a daughter born out of wedlock?”
Previously, Mo Zhu often praised the second young lady in front of the miss, saying how wonderful and outstanding she was, a model of the noble ladies of the capital!
This made Tang Chuyao, who had just arrived in the capital, feel inferior to Tang Chuying and often suffer from low self-esteem.
Especially the blotches on her face made her even less confident, rarely going out and having no friends.
Only Tang Chuying didn’t mind her and often came to visit her, so she sincerely regarded Tang Chuying as a younger sister. Whenever she had good things in her room, she would send them to Tang Chuying.
Even the gifts from the favored concubine were first offered to Tang Chuying to choose from, and only after she had picked enough would Tang Chuyao take the leftovers for her own little stash.
As a result, Tang Chuyao’s little stash contained hardly any valuable items, just a pile of things that Tang Chuying didn’t want, along with some trinkets that Tang Chuying casually gave her, like a little sugar figurine, a wooden hairpin, and her worn-out clothes…
Therefore, every time Tang Chuying came to her courtyard, she would always go out to greet her…
Thinking of this, Tang Chuyao felt like giving herself a hard slap!
However, now that she had been reborn, she would no longer waste her sincerity! She wouldn’t let her sincerity be fed to the dogs!
Tang Chuyao slowly stood up and walked over to Dujian, stopping in front of her.
Seeing Tang Chuyao approach Dujian with an unhappy expression, Mo Zhu smirked, knowing that Tang Chuyao would definitely stand up for her and teach Dujian a lesson!
It had been like this before!
Dujian looked nervously at Tang Chuyao, wondering if the changes in the miss today were just her imagination?
Was the miss still holding onto those who bullied her?
“Dujian, some people don’t need to say so much!”
After speaking, Tang Chuyao glanced at Mo Zhu behind Dujian and slowly walked toward her. Mo Zhu thought Tang Chuyao would, as usual, appease her by rewarding her with some pearls and gems.
The greed on her face was impossible to hide.
Tang Chuyao truly felt that her past self was blind! How could she not see such an obvious sycophant!
“Smack!”
Tang Chuyao rubbed her slightly reddened palm; she definitely needed to strengthen her training every day, or else even slapping someone felt strenuous!
Mo Zhu covered her left cheek, staring at Tang Chuyao in disbelief.
Tang Chuyao, how dare she?
Dujian was also surprised but then happily laughed, pulling Tang Chuyao’s right hand and blowing on it, “Miss, let me handle these things in the future!”
“Miss? How could you hit me?”
“Aren’t you afraid I’ll tell the second young lady?”
Tang Chuyao turned to look at Mo Zhu, “Mo Zhu, if I remember correctly, your contract of servitude is still in my hands, right?”
Mo Zhu looked shocked; she had always been flaunting her power in front of Tang Chuyao and had completely forgotten about this.
“You, as a servant, dare to disrespect your master and speak so boldly; even if Miss Tang sells you, what can you say?”
Tang Chuyao exuded an air of authority, causing Mo Zhu to break out in a cold sweat. The usually weak and sickly girl was suddenly so assertive?
She didn’t expect Tang Chuyao’s attitude to change so dramatically!
“Sister, what’s going on?” A smiling woman walked in, dressed in a light blue brocade gown that shimmered, with a few golden hairpins in her elegant bun and a pure gold chain around her neck. Even the gold earrings she wore sparkled brightly, making her appear exceptionally noble, and behind her followed four maidservants. Anyone unaware would think she was the legitimate daughter of the household!
Seeing Tang Chuying again, Tang Chuyao suppressed the shivering throughout her body, clenched her fists tightly, her nails digging deep into her flesh, fighting against the impulse to rush over and tear Tang Chuying apart!
Finishing off Tang Chuying so easily would be too cheap for her; she wanted Tang Chuying to experience the suffering she had endured in her previous life!
Tang Chuyao reached out her hand, and Dujian immediately helped her sit down at the table.
As Dujian helped Tang Chuyao calm down, she said to Tang Chuying, “Second Miss, you are unaware that our Miss was angered by Mo Zhu!”
Tang Chuying was left standing at the doorway, a situation that had never happened before.
Not only did Tang Chuyao not come out to greet her, but she even left her standing at the door!!
Dujian continued, “Mo Zhu deliberately sabotaged the sisterly bond between the Miss and the Second Miss!”
“Our Miss just woke up and is in a weak condition, yet Mo Zhu ordered her to go out and greet the Second Miss!”
“Not to mention that our Miss is the Second Miss’s legitimate sister; if it were to be spread around, wouldn’t the Second Miss’s reputation be ruined by Mo Zhu’s actions?”
“The Second Miss is kind-hearted; how could she do such a thing?”
“Mo Zhu is intentionally sowing discord between you sisters!”
Tang Chuyao couldn’t help but give Dujian a thumbs up in her heart. How did she not realize in her previous life that Dujian had such a sharp tongue!!
Suddenly, she self-deprecatingly laughed. In her past life, she had lived in such humility; how could Dujian, as a servant, be any different?
In her previous life, Dujian was probably even angrier than she was!
Dujian never cared about her own grievances, but whenever Tang Chuyao was wronged, this girl felt more heartache than anyone else…
“Alright, Dujian, let’s not say too much.”
“Second Sister is definitely not that kind of person.”
Tang Chuyao’s voice was hoarse, like a worn-out saw cutting wood, making it uncomfortable to hear.
Only then did Dujian shut her mouth and stop speaking.
Tang Chuying’s face changed colors, alternating between green and white, a sight to behold.
She slowly approached Tang Chuyao from the doorway, reaching out to grab Tang Chuyao’s hand, but suddenly, Tang Chuyao covered her mouth with a handkerchief and coughed a few times.
“Cough, cough.”
Tang Chuying immediately took a few steps back, her face full of disdain, but quickly returned to normal, feigning concern as she asked, “Sister, is your health still not well?”
After speaking, she pretended to be heartbroken, wiping her eyes with a handkerchief that had no tears, then looked at Mo Zhu with feigned anger, “Mo Zhu, as a servant, how dare you disrespect your elder sister? Miss Tang must teach you a lesson to vent her anger!”
Mo Zhu immediately knelt in front of Tang Chuying, “Miss, spare me! I was wrong!”
Tang Chuyao coldly watched this scene; Mo Zhu referred to herself as a servant in front of Tang Chuying and called her Miss, showing a blatant disregard for her status as the legitimate daughter!
