Chapter 275

According to Juno’s explanation, it seemed the baron’s investigation team had discovered a massive dungeon waterfall dungeon upstream from the river flowing through the town. 

Several members of the investigation team had entered the dungeon to investigate but even after a whole day had passed, they still hadn’t returned. 

Learning from previous mistakes, they took a more careful approach this time and there, they found out the dungeon was shaped like a big underground cave and at the sight of an enormous monster’s shadow silhouette, they decided to bolt right away.

And so, Juno had come to report the finding to me so we could come up with a new plan. 

“Ah, Juno-kun, take this with you.”

I gave Juno the extremely lethal poison that I had created (Zodiac Poison) that I had safely tucked in the back of my warehouse. I tapped him on the shoulder, convinced he should know what to do next. 

However, Juno didn’t move from his spot. He just stood there and stared at me intently. 

“Hm? Do you need anything else?”

Oh, come on now Juno-kun. As you can see, I’m very busy. I need to continue my leisure nap in this new hammock, you know. 

“Keigo’s fang. Glacies Nova. Strong.”

Juno said so as he pointed at the fang in my pocket with a confused look on his face. 

Oh, come on now my lord. I’m but a humble commoner. Fighting against such a scary monster is prosperous for someone like my humble self. That kind of thing should be left to the strong and courageous knights, right?

I appealed to him with all of my might. Desperately trying to convey “Dungeon is NO GO!!” to him with a mixture of gesture and broken Lancaster language. I was imitating the gesture of a helpless, humble farmer when Yurina-san appeared from the kitchen, still in her apron. She looked shocked at our state and started scolding me thoroughly. 

….Well, I might be joking about being a commoner but technically speaking, my ability as an adventurer is on the same level as a humble commoner though. 

The baron’s investigation team that failed to return consisted of veteran adventurers. They were far more experienced and skilled than someone like me.

While it may be true that we might have advantage in fighting large monsters with Glacies Nova, but is this really something worth risking the lord’s life for?

I know for sure an ordinary noble who has never wielded a sword in their life wouldn’t even consider going into an unknown monster’s nest. Pretty sure those noble would rather sacrifice others to save their own life.

To be honest, I don’t want to die either and I just can’t understand why anyone would want to enter a hole full of dangerous monsters like that. 

But… You know…

I’ve already memorized the faces and the names of my people. The people who failed to return, I know who their wives and girlfriends are. I know their partner must be anxiously waiting for their return. 

The point is, even though they entered the dungeon under Juno’s orders, but I’m responsible for it too. After all, I’m the one who delegated Juno to this position. Unfortunately, despite my own reluctance, I can’t abandon my responsibility and indulge myself in otherworldly pleasure such as napping on a hammock during the day like this. 

…….Yeah. I’m definitely stuck in a predicament. 

“ARGHHHHHH!! Fine, fine! We have to go and help them, right?”

I shouted, feeling frustrated. However, Yurina-san was looking at me with admiration, her eyes were practically sparkling. 

“If we’re going to do it, we better maximize the chance of our survival…”

I equipped myself with my current best weapons, armor and potions available before heading to the waterfall dungeon with Juno.
