Chapter 1: Divorce
The early autumn in Mo City was a bit chilly.
Qin Wen sat in the dimly lit living room, and when he looked up, he could see the man smoking across from him. They had been sitting like this for two hours. The man’s face was completely hidden in the darkness, with only the occasional glow of the cigarette outlining the strong contours from his chin to his nose.
Qin Wen felt cold all over, his heart intermittently sending out sharp pains, but his voice remained steady as he said, “Have you made up your mind?”
“Is there even a need to think about it?” The man’s voice was low and rich, sending a shiver down Qin Wen’s spine as it passed by his ear. At this point, Qin Wen sadly realized he still couldn’t muster any resistance against Chi Han, while Chi Han was ready to put an end to this negotiation. “Qin Wen,” he said clearly, “Three years are up.”
The marriage arranged by their elders was a business alliance. Qin Wen and Chi Han had been married for three years, with the agreement that after three years, they would go their separate ways without holding each other back.
Qin Wen had always thought that in three years… He clenched his already numb fingertips tightly, feeling as if he had stepped into thin air.
Qin Wen had always thought that in three years, he could warm Chi Han’s heart.
But the truth proved that Chi Han, true to his name, gave Qin Wen not a single chance. Not to mention Chi Han’s vast and solid background, he himself was a top-level Alpha. To what extent? Almost unaffected by Omega pheromones. Otherwise, Qin Wen’s mint scent wouldn’t have been neglected until now. It elegantly filled every corner of the room, but to Chi Han, it was no different from any other Omega.
Chi Han seemed to be born free from emotional bonds, his gaze always fixed on the vast sky. Qin Wen, despite his best efforts, couldn’t leave his mark in it.
And now, the divorce agreement lay on the table. The property division was reasonable, not taking advantage of Qin Wen, but also not giving him any special treatment for being an Omega. Chi Han was rational and cold to the point of being harsh in every matter.
Qin Wen’s mind kept replaying Chi Han’s words, “Three years are up.” Chi Han was urging him, probably filled with irritation and disgust for this failed marriage. He might even celebrate with a drink or two after their divorce. Thinking this, Qin Wen bitterly curled his lips. He was never a likable Omega. Ordinary Omegas were soft and gentle, unlike him, who was always in and out of major business venues. The rumors about him weren’t pleasant, and Chi Han must have heard enough of them.
Three years were up. Qin Wen opened his phone, using the faint light to look at the divorce agreement. It didn’t have Chi Han’s signature because the final decision was in Chi Han’s hands. He would find a suitable opportunity. Perhaps it was the lighting, but Chi Han always felt Qin Wen’s eyes were a bit red. Before he could ponder it further, the young man, as if making a desperate gamble, signed his name on it.
Chi Han frowned slightly, something cold flashed through his heart, but he didn’t have time to catch it. He first took the divorce agreement, his attitude businesslike, “Pleasure doing business.” He looked down at Qin Wen, unable to see his face clearly, but judging from the pheromones Qin Wen emitted into the air, he seemed uncomfortable. But once divorced, they were strangers. Chi Han couldn’t find the words to comfort him, “By the way, according to the property division, this residence should be mine.”
This was the advantage of a top-level Alpha. They were absolutely rational and absolutely cold, not bound by any emotions. No matter how heartbroken the Omega they broke up with was, they could still wake up refreshed after a night’s sleep.
Scumbag… Qin Wen thought of everything that night, almost laughing at Chi Han’s heartless attitude.
Forget it, he thought. It’s already like this. Qin Wen took a deep breath and stood up, his tone gentle, “I’ll pack my things tonight and leave tomorrow.”
Chi Han appreciated Qin Wen’s attitude. He liked talking to smart people, so his tone softened as well, “Well then, take care.”
“Can we not get divorced?!” Qin Wen’s shoulders slumped, almost shouting the words, but he only heard himself mechanically respond, “Take care.”
