Chapter 12: What Did You Do?

Old Master Chi stood at the door, exchanging pleasantries with others, and witnessed the scene clearly. While he was surprised, a sense of pride welled up within him. He knew that with Qin Wen being such an outstanding Omega, it was only a matter of time before Chi Han would be moved.

Chi Han’s attitude caused a significant shift in the thoughts of those around. Some in the crowd looked on disdainfully and left with a cold snort after a moment.

Old Master Chi, during his peak, was close to being top-level, but he fell short. Chi Han’s birth filled the void in his heart. Some strong Alpha traits manifest from infancy, and Old Master Chi knew from the first glance that Chi Han would achieve great things in the future. In such large families, although there are various open and hidden struggles, when a top-level Alpha is born, the resources they enjoy are undoubtedly the best.

Old Master Chi looked at Chi Han with satisfaction, but when his gaze fell on Qin Wen, he frowned slightly, “Why do you look thinner each time I see you?”

“I’m fine, Grandpa. It’s just the change of seasons, and my appetite hasn’t been great,” Qin Wen explained respectfully.

“This is Chi Han’s problem,” Old Master Chi said with a hint of meaning. Omegas are fragile and easily affected by their environment, but their Alphas can compensate for these external factors.

Qin Wen wanted to say something, but Chi Han spoke in a deep voice, “Grandpa is right.”

Qin Wen: “…” Ever since the divorce, he found Chi Han increasingly hard to understand.

Most of the people who came today were Old Master Chi’s relatives and old friends, but there were also some who were of high status and wanted to use the opportunity to climb higher.

Although Chi Han was married, he had never actively brought Qin Wen to any important occasions in the past three years. His attendance today was likely due to pressure from Old Master Chi. “Where are you going?” Chi Han asked.

“Restroom,” Qin Wen replied, thinking that this person really had eyes and ears everywhere.

This was somewhat “unfair” to Chi Han. Although top-level Alphas have very keen senses, to avoid the troubles brought by extremes, their brains automatically filter out some information. Noticing Qin Wen’s movements was entirely because his mind was focused on him.

Chi Han released him, “Then go ahead, but come back soon.”

It was the first time Qin Wen heard him say something like this, and he felt a bit reluctant, “Okay.”

“Mr. Chi is multitasking, but his main focus is still on his Omega,” the middle-aged man teased.

“Sorry,” Chi Han said, slightly serious, “But I heard Mr. Lin is also very fond of his Omega at home.”

“Also?” Lin Wenlan shook his head, unceremoniously saying, “Judging by Mr. Qin’s expression, your attitude towards him can’t be described as fond.”

What the other person said was true, and Chi Han wasn’t angry. He just felt a tightness somewhere in his heart. This was the first time he defended Qin Wen in such a large setting. He could fool ordinary people, but someone like Lin Wenlan, who was devoted to his spouse, could see through it at a glance.

Qin Wen went to the restroom and vomited all the water he had just drunk. The water was too cold, and his stomach felt uncomfortable after drinking it. He sat for a while, holding his abdomen, and only left after he felt better.

Unexpectedly, someone was already waiting.

“Song Kai,” Qin Wen said hoarsely, “Waiting for me?”

Song Kai was half a head shorter than Qin Wen, but his demeanor was arrogant and domineering. He was known in the circle as a “drama king.” His infatuation with Chi Han was no secret back then. Despite trying everything, he couldn’t get past Old Master Chi, and Qin Wen ended up winning. Song Kai had features that leaned towards the cute side, especially when he smiled, and his strawberry-scented pheromones meant he always had Alphas chasing after him.

Before getting married, Qin Wen wasn’t particularly outstanding among his Omega peers. People wanted someone soft and cute, someone who could depend on and admire them. But Qin Wen was calm and composed, unflustered in the face of challenges, never acting coy or asking for help, always self-reliant. Although he had good looks, he didn’t follow the crowd.

At that time, everyone favored Song Kai, but no one expected the pie to fall into Qin Wen’s lap in the end.

“You look terrible,” Song Kai said disdainfully, “Life must be tough after marrying Chi Han, huh?”

“None of your business,” Qin Wen said, swallowing with difficulty. The acid reflux during pregnancy came without warning, and he just wanted to find a quiet place to sit and rest.

Song Kai blocked Qin Wen’s path, “You should know, right? Chi Han doesn’t love you. Any Omega could take your place now.”

Qin Wen shook his head tiredly, “Wrong.”

Song Kai’s expression turned serious, “What’s wrong?”

“Not just any Omega, not even you,” Qin Wen sighed, “Chi Han isn’t affected by pheromones. Unless he falls for someone first, even if an Omega exhausts their pheromones in front of him, it’s in vain.” The young man paused, and Song Kai saw no expression on Qin Wen’s face, but there was a real sadness emanating from him. Qin Wen’s voice turned hoarse, “But you were right about one thing, Chi Han doesn’t love me.”

This left Song Kai speechless.

Song Kai’s brows furrowed, “You’re so self-destructive, how am I supposed to attack you?”

Qin Wen was momentarily stunned, then couldn’t help but laugh. He never truly disliked Song Kai because he knew that aside from being “dramatic,” Song Kai wasn’t inherently bad. “If you…”

Before Qin Wen could finish, Song Kai exclaimed, “Huh?” and when the mist cleared, he was already supporting Qin Wen.

“What’s wrong with you?” Song Kai asked, his face serious, “Last time I saw you, you were sharp-tongued, but now you can’t even speak properly?”

“No…” Qin Wen said softly, and then the restroom door was pushed open, cold air sweeping in like a cold wind through a pine forest.

Song Kai liked Chi Han, but at this moment, he didn’t dare to get close, allowing Chi Han to take Qin Wen and cradle him like a treasure.

In Chi Han’s glassy eyes, there was a coldness as he stared at Song Kai, “What did you do?”

“No…” Song Kai backed away in fear, “It wasn’t me!” He intended to cause trouble, but with Qin Wen in that state, did he even need anyone to cause trouble? It felt like anyone could poke him, and he’d shatter.
