Chapter 6: Unexpected Encounter

During the rare holiday, Qin Wen picked up the “shopping” project again. In the past, no matter how busy he was, he would always fill the fridge to the brim. However, in the two months before the divorce, Chi Han barely came home, leaving Qin Wen with nothing much to do alone. But now, things were different; he had a little life growing inside him.

Qin Wen seemed to be born without knowing how to take care of himself. In the past, he relied on Chi Han, and now he relied on the child. He carefully checked the production dates on the food, picking up some quail eggs, shrimp, and beef and lamb. He didn’t particularly like eating them, but now he needed to supplement his protein intake. He had been coughing intermittently and had been cooped up at home for three days with a cold that hadn’t improved. Today, he thought of going out to get some fresh air and shake off the gloom.

This supermarket had everything, and everything was fresh. It was located in a bustling area in the city center. Qin Wen didn’t dare to buy too much. By the time he queued up to leave, he was already sweating. The discomfort of an Omega in early pregnancy was gradually showing, especially the exhaustion. It felt like every step he took reduced the air in his lungs.

Qin Wen sat by the flower bed in front of the supermarket, facing a mall with a constant flow of people.

An obviously pregnant Omega was happily rummaging through a shopping bag, probably having bought something they really liked. An Alpha quickly caught up, looking anxious, “Wait for me, what if you fall?”

“Can I really fall on flat ground?” The Omega glared at their partner but had a happy smile on their face.

Qin Wen watched with gentle eyes. He had always envied all kinds of people. Normally, he could hide his emotions, but now that he was pregnant, all sorts of messy thoughts kept surfacing in his mind. He couldn’t suppress the nature of an Omega.

Just as Qin Wen was about to get up after resting enough, he suddenly froze, and his face visibly turned pale.

Chi Han stood out in the crowd. He wasn’t a celebrity, yet he drew frequent glances from those around him. His calm and composed demeanor marked him as an extraordinary Alpha. A few Omegas nearby wanted to approach him for contact information, but as soon as they got close, they awkwardly backed away. Undoubtedly, he had released pheromones that made Omegas uncomfortable. It wouldn’t cause any harm, but it clearly conveyed a message: Stay away from me.

In Qin Wen’s memory, Chi Han never came to places like this. Today, he was dressed very casually, in black pants and a dark blue trench coat, making all the bright scenery around him seem dull. Suddenly, Chi Han moved, or rather, a cute Omega with delicate features hugged him from behind. Chi Han’s eternally frosty face slowly softened, warmth seeping through, filled with genuine affection and love, piercing Qin Wen’s heart with pain.

So this person could smile, Qin Wen thought. It seemed he really disliked him, and it hadn’t been long since they separated…

And that Omega, they perfectly fit the current public’s expectations of an Omega, exuding innocence and charm, instantly triggering a protective instinct in people.

The Omega was holding a plush toy, and Chi Han considerately took it from them. Then, as if sensing something, the man looked over in Qin Wen’s direction.

Qin Wen’s heart suddenly raced. In his haste to leave, he didn’t watch where he was going and ended up bumping into someone.

“Damn! Are you blind?” It was a bad-tempered Alpha, whose pheromones were overwhelming for Qin Wen.

I shouldn’t have come out, Qin Wen thought. He slightly bowed to the man, “I’m sorry, I…”

The cold wind diluted the nauseating pheromones, and the scent of cedar followed. Feeling the presence of someone behind him, Qin Wen momentarily forgot what to say and didn’t dare to move.

“Is there a problem?” Chi Han’s eyes were cold, dangerously staring at the man in front of Qin Wen.

This was a confrontation between Alphas. The other party wasn’t easy to deal with and almost instantly released pheromones. If this scene could be materialized, one would see the man’s pheromones being shattered upon contact with Chi Han’s, dissipating into smoke as the man fled in panic, even apologizing to Qin Wen, “I’m sorry.”

“Out shopping?” Chi Han glanced at the bag in Qin Wen’s hand.

But as soon as he spoke, Qin Wen took two steps back, and the bag was about to fall when a long hand caught it steadily. Chi Han stepped forward, letting Qin Wen lean against him. As the distance closed, he smelled the varying intensity of mint, feeling a bit confused.

Chi Han’s expression changed instantly, “Did he attack you?”

“No…” Qin Wen tried to stand firm, but he couldn’t handle even a hint of hostile Alpha pheromones, especially not from an Alpha who wasn’t his. Every cell in his body began to reject it, leading to a series of adverse reactions. His vision darkened, and Qin Wen was so anxious that his voice changed, “I’m sorry, I’ll be fine soon.”

“What’s wrong?” The Omega with Chi Han cautiously examined Qin Wen’s face, suddenly looking serious, “Brother, he needs to go to the hospital.”

“No…” Before Qin Wen could finish, he was lifted horizontally. Chi Han’s car was parked by the roadside, and the Omega quickly jumped into the driver’s seat, “Give me the car keys!”

The faint scent of mint seemed to be losing control. The Omega glanced at the rearview mirror, about to say something when he saw Chi Han lower his head and bite Qin Wen’s gland, his eyes widening in surprise.

Is this Chi Han’s Omega? Otherwise, why would he, an eternal ice block, offer his pheromones?!

Qin Wen whimpered, his grip on Chi Han’s shirt gradually loosening. The blue veins disappeared, and his fingers were particularly pale and weak, falling only to be caught by Chi Han, cold as ice.

Chi Han unconsciously frowned, “What’s wrong?” His voice softened bit by bit, “Where does it hurt?”

Qin Wen leaned against Chi Han’s chest during this time, his body unable to utter a word of refusal. The child would naturally be close to their father, and Chi Han’s pheromones were like a swamp he willingly jumped into. Qin Wen greedily absorbed them while restraining his desire, “It’s nothing, no need to go to the hospital, I just have a cold.”

These words were utterly unconvincing. It’s rare to see an Omega so unwell from a cold like Qin Wen.

As if realizing something, Chi Han’s expression turned strange for a moment, and he said in a deep voice, “This is Chi Sheng.”

Chi Sheng? The same surname. Chi Han’s father once had a lover outside, and the child born was supposedly named Chi Sheng. With this thought, some of the sadness in Qin Wen’s heart dissipated. Even if he didn’t want to be affected by Chi Han, he had to admit that hearing this made him feel much better, “Your brother?”

Chi Han: “Yes.”

Their conversation was downright strange, filled with caution in Chi Sheng’s ears.

“I want to go home.” After saying this, Qin Wen instinctively exposed his gland, still seeking pheromones.

Surprise flashed in Chi Han’s eyes. In the past, Qin Wen would be satisfied with just one contact, but today, despite the ample pheromones given, Qin Wen still felt it wasn’t enough.

As Chi Han’s gaze met his, Qin Wen’s whole body stiffened, as if realizing what he had done. He immediately went to cover his gland, only to have his wrist caught by Chi Han. More intense pheromones flooded into his gland, making his body feel as if it were floating on clouds.

He hadn’t washed away the mark, Chi Han thought.
