Accidentally Entangled with the Rich
Accidentally Entangled with the Rich Chapter 2.1

Zhou Shiguang felt a pang in her chest as she looked at Zhou Meng. That boyfriend snatcher!

“Congratulations.”

“Aren’t you going to ask me who my fiancé is?”

Shiguang looked into her eyes and her expression immediately sank.

“Meng Hao.”

Zhou Meng smiled happily as she raised her chin: “He proposed to me. Isn’t he nice, gentle and handsome?”

“You finally got your wish.” It’s been almost three years since Shiguang left Zhou family. It’s time to face reality, isn’t it? Guang mustered a smile but still couldn’t hold back her words. “It’s tough, isn’t it? Congratulations.”

“Excuse me?” Meng’s complexion suddenly changed before returning to normal. “You overthink everything. Just come to my engagement and give it up.”

” I’m a bit busy at the moment.” Shiguang shrugged and said with a smile, “I have to take several trip to the set, so I won’t be able to go.”

“Filming what? A movie?” Meng smiled and said, “But you have to come to my engagement. My fiancé also hopes that you can come. After all, you were playmates when you were young. With all those years of friendship, I’ll start wondering why you’re afraid of coming. Chen— what’s your real surname?”

Truth was Shiguang couldn’t get any roles. She wasn’t good at marketing herself. Growing up rich just made her arrogant. She refused to adjust to the needs of any potential role. She’s also not famous. So who’s going to hire her?

Shiguang lowered her head but realized that Meng would perceive this as admitting defeat. She quickly raised her head to stare Meng straight in the eye. “You think I wouldn’t dare go? I will contact you later.” She raised her wrist and habitually looked at the time. Just then she remembered that she bought the watch for 159 yuan and lowered her wrist in embarrassment.

“It’s getting late, I don’t want to keep my friends waiting.”

“Later.” Zhou Meng waved her hand and sneered behind Shiguang’s back.

There is no such thing as a free lunch. She stole her parents and was showered with their love for eighteen years. Shiguang must be punished. Her current situation is still too good for her.

When Shiguang got back, she was immediately questioned.

“Where were you?”

Xiaomei pouted, “We’ve been waiting for you for a long time.”

Shiguang sat down, “I met a friend and chatted for a while. Sorry for keeping you guys waiting.”

“Nevermind that.” Chen Wei said. “We haven’t finished eating anyway.”

Xiaomei, on the other hand, seemed unhappy and glared at Wei.

“What?” Wei asked defeated.

Shiguang took a sip of water and mumbled, “It’s getting late, shall we head back?”

“Sure.” Wangmei rose in response.

“It’s still pretty early. Why not enjoy each other’s company some more?” Chen Wei’s gaze flicked past Shiguang before turning back to Xiaomei: “I invited some friends to karaoke. Why don’t you bring your classmates there? It’s a really popular spot. “

“Are you sure?” Xiaomei glanced at her two classmates bitterly. With a sweet smile on her face, she whined “Brother Chen, we—”

“It’s going to be fun! My colleagues are over there. If the two of us go alone, it might be awkward for you. I wouldn’t want you to feel out of place.”

Just when Shiguang was about to refuse, Wangmei stood up and spoke for the both of them. “Let’s go then, Brother Chen.”

Shiguang wanted the ground to swallow her up.

It was already 8pm when we drove to the KTV. Chen said that the colleagues he invited are all men. As students on a budget, going to KTV is considered a luxury so Wangmei and Guo Xiaomei were very excited. They started hogging the mic as soon as they got there.

Meanwhile, Shiguang expressed no interest. She was feeling in the dumps. While her friends sang loudly and clinked glasses.

“Drink! You won’t get drunk. It’s just beer.”

Shiguang took a sip frowning before swallowing the bitter liquid.

Her friends continued singing and shouting SHE’s song. Xiaomei’s soft voice complemented Wang Mei’s deep one. As this was going on, Chen stared predatorily at Shiguang. He poured her another glass of alcohol.

“To meeting for the first time.” He toasted her glass.

Shiguang couldn’t think of another response. “It’s an honor.”

Chen drank the beer and shook the empty glass, smiling at Shiguang.

A few colleagues of his were staring at them, Shiguang felt the heat on her cheeks as she finished drinking her glass. She didn’t have a high tolerance so she was feeling a bit woozy after a few glasses.

Her head was throbbing. She leaned on the sofa in a daze.

“Are you falling asleep?”

Shiguang shook her head but couldn’t make a sound.

Chen started inching his hand up her thighs causing her to sit up reflexively.

“Shiguang?” Wangmei called, sensing something wrong. “What’s wrong?”

Her head was still aching but she was wide awake now. “I’m going to the bathroom. Wangmei, can you come with me?”

“Sure.”

Wangmei was in the middle of a song but she dropped the microphone without a second thought to join Shiguang.

“Let’s go home.” Shiguang whimpered.

“It’s too late to get into the dormitory.”

“If we can’t get in, we can climb over the wall. There are no buses now. We’d have to take a taxi if we can’t find a ride. That’s just too expensive.”

“No!” Shiguang raised her voice resentfully. “I’ll pay for the taxi, that kind of person—”

She composed herself. “I’ll just work more hours to earn the money.”

Wangmei was stunned in horror. “What happened? Did that bastard do something to you? I’m going to beat that stinky rascal to death!”

“No, don’t make a fuss.” It would be hard to face Xiaomei in the same dorm room if we make a scene.

“Then what should we do now?”

Shiguang crumpled and leaned on Wangmei’s shoulder; “I feel like shit.”

“Drink some water.” Wangmei said caringly. After a drink, the effects of the alcohol abated. Shiguang regretted confiding in Wangmei. Although Wangmei and Guo Xiaomei hangout often, they’re definitely rivals. What if Wangmei uses this as ammunition to attack Xiaomei?

“Can you go get my bag in our booth? I need some air.”

“Alright.” Wangmei looked at Shiguang, with concern before turning to leave.

“Hey, Wangmei!” Shiguang called. “Don’t say anything, alright? Xiaomei likes to save face.”

“I know, I’m not that stupid.”

Wangmei gave her a look, “I’m going.”

Shiguang laughed “You’re the best.”

Part of the reason why Shiguang drank so much was because she heard that it can alleviate pain. But she still feels sorrow in her drunken state. Shiguang rubbed her cheeks and walked towards the elevator. She feared that she would burst into tears if she stayed a minute longer.
