Chapter 16
The noise in the room continued all night.
Luo Rou, not one to be reserved, had studied abroad and had a very liberal mindset. The contents of the juice had simply exposed her true nature. Throughout the night, she incessantly clung to Sheng Yujie, and the sounds she made could be heard even through the door.
Rui Tianfeng and Luo Minghui sat on the sofa, worried about their daughter. But hearing the sounds she was making was still somewhat embarrassing.
Rui Tianfeng instructed the household servants to prepare tonic.
The next day at noon, the two finally emerged from their room.
Both of them looked exhausted, as if their bodies had been completely drained.
Rui Tianfeng quickly brought the tonic and had them drink it down.
Luo Rou could hardly walk now due to her sore legs, and Rui Tianfeng couldn’t help but shed tears beside her out of pity.
After drinking the tonic, Luo Rou asked, “Mom, where’s Luo Wan?”
After causing such embarrassment for herself yesterday, she wouldn’t let Luo Wan off the hook.
“Yesterday, things were chaotic at home, so I let her leave,” Rui Tianfeng said, still feeling angry. If that girl were here right now, she’d tear her apart.
“Uncle, Aunt, Rou’er, don’t worry. That girl from the countryside, since she’s done such humiliating things…”
“I won’t let her off the hook for what she’s done,” Sheng Yujie couldn’t bear to see his beloved woman suffer, silently resolving to deal with Luo Wan properly.
He then reassured, “I’ll go back to my parents later and talk to them about getting married. I won’t let Rou’er suffer.”
Hearing her beloved’s words, Luo Rou shyly lowered her head.
After Sheng Yujie left, the family sat on the sofa.
Luo Rou looked at Luo Minghui with a sense of grievance and said, “Dad, you have to stand up for me.”
“Thankfully, Yujie came in time yesterday, or I wouldn’t have known what to do,” she continued. “If anything had happened, the engagement with the Sheng family might have been ruined.”
She deliberately brought up the engagement because she knew that Luo Minghui cared most about their engagement with the Sheng family. The Sheng family was one of the top families internationally, and any connection with them would bring immense benefits, especially through an engagement.
So Luo Minghui had carefully nurtured Luo Rou since childhood, not allowing any accidents to happen.
Now, Luo Minghui was also angry.
He regretted not creating some sort of accident years ago to send her away with her mother.
Looking at his daughter, who looked so aggrieved, he said, “Rou’er, don’t worry. This matter will be resolved. As long as she still wants her mother’s shares, she’ll come begging to me sooner or later.”
“You just need to capture Sheng Yujie’s heart now,” Luo Minghui advised.
Luo Rou nodded in agreement.
Luo Minghui then asked, “Did you take any protective measures last night?”
Luo Rou blushed slightly and shook her head.
Last night, Sheng Yujie had wanted to take precautions, but he couldn’t resist her enthusiasm and eventually gave up.
“That’s good then. If you can get pregnant, your marriage will be almost guaranteed,” Luo Minghui said, relieved.
At the Sheng family’s old house, the old master and mistress were huddled over the telephone, with Mr. Wang from Xiyuan on the other end.
“Old Wang, tell us why that brat sent you guys to Xiyuan to serve someone,” they asked, curious after most of the capable people at the old house had been transferred away.
Mr. Wang hesitated for a moment.
He debated whether to tell the old master and mistress, considering that they had long been curious. However, the young master detested betrayal, and he couldn’t disclose the young master’s private affairs without his permission.
In the end, Mr. Wang chose his words carefully.
“Old master, old mistress, if you’re curious, come see for yourselves. I guarantee you’ll be pleasantly surprised.”
