Chapter 24
Luo Wan immediately clenched her teeth, not letting herself make any sound.
“Wan Wan, relax. I want to hear.”
Luo Wan felt like she was losing control of herself. Sweat covered her back, and her fingers tightly gripped the bedsheet beneath her.
“Ah.”
Finally, a faint sound escaped from her lips.
At the same time, on the other end of the phone, after the intense pleading, the other party also let out a sigh of relief.
After a while, Luo Wan finally regained her composure.
Thinking about the shameful things she had done, she immediately covered herself with the blanket. What had she done? She felt too embarrassed to face anyone.
Her phone was still on the bedside table, and she could hear the sound of water from the other end, indicating that the man was cleaning up.
Sheng Qing watched the mound in the video, a barely perceptible curve appearing at the corner of his mouth. He wanted to say something but was afraid of angering a certain shy woman, so he remained silent.
Luo Wan hadn’t been paying attention these past few days, and the air under the blanket was stuffy. In less than two minutes, she fell asleep again, forgetting to hang up the phone at the end of the bed.
She slept until half past nine the next morning, the earliest she had woken up since getting married.
She rolled over groggily.
The memories from last night flooded back into her mind.
“Ah.”
Luo Wan sighed softly, cursing a certain man in her heart several times and attributing her boldness from last night to him.
As she got out of bed, she noticed that her phone was still in its place from last night, and the call interface was still open. The video screen remained black, occasionally letting in a few beams of light.
It had been left on all night.
Meanwhile, in the United States, Sheng Qing was sitting in the main seat of a conference room.
Below him sat a group of executives, both Chinese and foreigners, discussing the company’s plan to move its headquarters to China.
It had been two days, and neither side could convince the other.
Sheng Qing furrowed his brow deeply, his gaze coldly sweeping over the people present.
“As for the relocation of the headquarters, I’m just informing you. I brought you here to come up with solutions, not to oppose me.”
His voice was low and icy, his fingers tapping on the table intermittently, echoing in the hearts of everyone present.
As the absolute superior, no one dared to speak in his presence.
Their young CEO, though
But his methods were ruthless, his actions decisive, and he had the potential of a tyrant, preferring to act alone.
It was he who had originally moved the company headquarters from China, and now, just a few years later, he wanted to move it back.
Although such upheavals were detrimental to the company’s development and could cause harm to the people, this lord always managed to lead the company at the forefront.
In just a few years abroad, he had taken control of the foreign markets.
And their salaries had risen accordingly.
So, although they had complaints, they could only keep them to themselves, afraid to express them openly.
Suddenly, the quiet conference room was disturbed by a woman’s voice from someone’s phone.
Everyone looked at each other.
They were all curious about who had the audacity not to silence their phone during the meeting.
After all, President Sheng detested being disturbed during meetings the most.
For a moment, everyone silently mourned for their colleague.
But what happened next in the conference room stunned everyone present.
The man sitting in the main seat, his aura previously cold and fierce, took out his phone, and then his demeanor visibly softened.
Luo Wan had intended to hang up, her finger about to tap the screen.
Suddenly, the previously dark screen lit up, and the man’s handsome face appeared in the frame.
At this moment, the man was dressed in a dark suit, leaning back in his chair, exuding the image of a reserved and restrained male god.
Ignoring the inquisitive gazes of those present, Sheng Qing asked, “You’re awake so early.”
Luo Wan looked at the man’s handsome face and remembered what had happened last night, inexplicably angry.
Naturally, she directed her anger at the culprit.
She furrowed her delicate brows, pouting unhappily. “I won’t cooperate with you anymore.”
“I didn’t expect that. You seem quite restrained usually, but I didn’t expect you to be so perverted in private.”
“You can even think of such things.”
Cough.
Unexpectedly, his wife was so angry about what happened last night that as soon as she saw him, she started complaining. Sheng Qing coughed lightly, interrupting Luo Wan’s complaint, then turned the phone’s camera around.
The screen on Luo Wan’s phone went from showing the handsome man to revealing a room full of people.
Whatever else Luo Wan had to say was swallowed back down when she saw the scene.
A big social death scene.
There was silence from the phone for a long time.
“Why didn’t you remind me?” Luo Wan’s tone now was full of embarrassment.
The shrimp was cooked to a bright red color.
But she noticed that most of the people present were foreigners, so she asked herself hopefully, “They probably don’t understand Mandarin, right?”
Luo Wan comforted herself continuously, thinking that Sheng’s headquarters were abroad, and such a large company should communicate entirely in English.
Maybe those people wouldn’t understand what she was saying.
The man quickly shattered Luo Wan’s hope. “The ability to speak Mandarin is a primary requirement for anyone entering the Sheng Group.”
“Ah. I’m so embarrassed.”
Hearing this, Luo Wan didn’t hesitate and regretfully hung up the phone.
She had said too much.
It was indeed embarrassing.
Luo Wan tossed and turned in bed, her body twisting like a pretzel.
What had she just said?
Knock, knock, knock.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, interrupting Luo Wan’s torment.
Then came Aunt Li’s voice.
“Madam, Young Master wants you to come down for breakfast.”
Hearing this, Luo Wan raised her head from the mess of blankets on the bed.
“Okay.”
After a quick tidy up, she left the bedroom.
In the dining room, the meal was already laid out.
A few side dishes along with the main course, all looking very appetizing.
Luo Wan grabbed a bun and stuffed it in her mouth, then asked Aunt Li, “Just now, Young Master called to remind me to eat?”
“Yes, Young Master also said to make sure Madam eats plenty.”
Hearing the response, Luo Wan happily took a sip of porridge.
So this was what marriage looked like.
Meanwhile, in the conference room overseas.
After finishing his call, Sheng Qing put down his phone, his cold gaze sweeping over everyone present.
In a deep voice, he spoke, “The company’s future development will focus on the domestic market, but we won’t slack off in the international market either. If anyone doesn’t want to return to China, they can stay here, with excellent treatment.”
With that, Sheng Qing left the conference room, followed closely by Xu Zheng.
As soon as the men left, the previously quiet conference room exploded.
Everyone began expressing their shock.
“What’s going on? Is the CEO keeping a mistress?”
“Could it be that the CEO insists on relocating the headquarters back to China because of this woman?”
“Did you see how caring the CEO was just now? He’s usually so cold and merciless.”
“I really want to see what kind of woman she is, to have such good luck and capture the heart of this figure.”
