Chapter 31: Are You Crazy?
After a moment of silence, Lu Zhenting walked up to Jiang Can.
“I am Lu Qianyue’s father. It was my fault for not raising my daughter properly, leading her to do such a thing that hurt Miss Jiang. I apologize to you on her behalf. But she is still young, and we don’t want her to be detained or sentenced. What conditions can we settle on? Just tell me.”
Jiang Can smiled, “10 million.”
“10 million?”
“Yes, 10 million. If I insist on pursuing this, your daughter might go to jail!”
“Alright.”
Lu Zhenting readily agreed. After all, 10 million was just half a day’s profit for his company.
“Please donate it to the Thoracic Surgery Research project at the First People’s Hospital. Thank you.”
After saying that, Jiang Can took Xia Nanxi’s hand and turned to leave.
Lu Zhenting stood there stunned. He thought this little girl was asking for 10 million to extort them, but it turned out she wanted to donate it to medicine.
His daughter’s two classmates had such great character and vision, but why was his daughter becoming increasingly narrow-minded?
However, he didn’t know that Jiang Can’s donation had nothing to do with her character. She just wanted to do something for the man she liked.
After parting ways with Jiang Can, Xia Nanxi and Xia Jingyang were about to get in the car when Zhang Yating rushed over.
“Nanxi, Nanxi, wait a minute.”
Xia Nanxi turned her head and looked at her scrutinizingly, “What else do you have to say?”
She rubbed her hands together. Xia Nanxi couldn’t help but notice a blush on her face.
“Nanxi, I’m here to apologize. I thought Qianyue just wanted to play a little prank on you and Jiang Can, but I didn’t expect her to be so malicious. But believe me, I’m different from her. I absolutely didn’t have any intention of harming you.”
Xia Nanxi scoffed. “What kind of person you are doesn’t concern me. This matter is over. I don’t want to talk to you anymore. Goodbye.”
Seeing Xia Nanxi about to leave, Zhang Yating panicked and grabbed her arm. “Nanxi, I sincerely apologize! It’s getting dark soon. Let me treat you to dinner.”
Although she was talking to Xia Nanxi, her eyes were fixed on Xia Jingyang.
Xia Nanxi pushed her hand away and said impatiently, “No, thank you!”
Offering unsolicited kindness is either deceitful or malicious. This Zhang Yating must be up to something.
“Well, maybe your brother would like to eat.”
What?
Xia Nanxi looked at Xia Jingyang. Even if she was a fool, she understood now. It turned out Zhang Yating had a crush on her third brother?
“Without my permission, my third brother wouldn’t dare eat! Besides, he wouldn’t even bother to eat your treat.”
In other words, not only does my third brother not fancy you, but even if he did, I wouldn’t agree!
Xia Jingyang cooperated with her and put his arm around Xia Nanxi’s shoulder, “Sister, let’s go home. Mom just called and said she made some delicious food.”
“Okay!”
Watching the siblings get in the car and drive away, Zhang Yating wasn’t discouraged at all. Instead, she was even more determined.
In her entire life, she finally knew what love at first sight was. No matter what it took, she would pursue Xia Nanxi’s brother, Xia Jingyang!
When Xia Nanxi and her brother got home, Xu Xiufen had indeed prepared dinner.
Bean sprouts and vermicelli stewed with pork belly, braised young rooster with face cakes, stir-fried zucchini, and fish head tofu soup.
The autumn evening was free of heat. They placed the dishes on the stone table by the door, enjoying the cool breeze and watching the bustling crowd. It was so pleasant.
Xu Xiufen picked up a chicken leg for Xia Nanxi, “You’re busy with school and work. You have to take good care of yourself and eat more.”
“Thank you, Mom!”
Xia Changyuan also hurriedly served Xia Nanxi some soup, “It’s not good for girls to be too thin. Being slightly plump is beautiful and cute.”
“Yeah, Dad is right!”
The family was happily eating dinner when Cai Guihua came over.
“Oh, you’re having dinner. I brought some wedding candy that Weidong bought for you.”
