Chapter 58: It’s Me Chasing Him
Xia Nanxi quickly climbed back upstairs and knocked on her brother Xia Jingyang’s door.
“Third Brother, Third Brother! Zhang Yating is here again.”
Xia Jingyang opened the door groggily, “Just send her away.”
“She’s not here for me, I can’t say anything. Besides, I know my place. A younger sister shouldn’t meddle in her brother’s affairs, otherwise she’ll just be disliked.”
Xia Jingyang poked her head, “Who is your sister-in-law?”
“I’m just saying, it’s not the same who can be my sister-in-law. Who can say what the future holds?”
She thought Zhang Yating was not good enough for her third brother, but who knows, maybe he’ll suddenly find her attractive?
Xia Jingyang sighed, “Alright, alright, wait for me here. I’ll wash my face.”
The two brothers went downstairs together, and Zhang Yating hurried over.
“Nanxi, Jingyang, you’re awake! What do you want to eat? I’ll go to the kitchen and get it for you.”
Xia Nanxi quickly waved her hands, “No, no, my mom is right, a guest is a guest. Don’t bother, just sit down and rest.”
She remembered Zhang Yating being beaten by her mother last time at the hospital. Sigh, she was a pitiful person.
Xia Jingyang found a table and sat down, and Zhang Yating followed.
Xia Jingyang was not in a good mood, “What are you doing here again?”
“Hehe…” Zhang Yating nervously rubbed her hands, “It’s raining today, perfect for rowing on the lake. It would be so romantic, we… should go together, right?”
“Didn’t you understand what I said last time? I don’t like you, and I’m not going to be with you. Stop wasting my time, okay?”
Zhang Yating pursed her lips, “Well, aren’t I chasing you? It’s okay if you don’t want to go. Maybe you’ll like me later.”
Xia Jingyang was speechless, “Then come to my house when you like me, okay?”
She often came to his house to work, not only making him annoyed, but also causing gossip among the neighbors.
Zhang Yating’s eyes dimmed, with a hint of sadness.
“Don’t be angry, I won’t come anymore. Well… I’m going then…”
She just stood up, her feet hadn’t moved yet, when a sharp voice came from the doorway.
“You little rascal, I knew you’ve been acting strange lately, always lost in thought. So you’ve been seeing a man!”
Zhang Yating turned around, shrinking back in fear.
“Mom, why are you here?”
Lin Meiru, wearing a champagne-colored dress, shook her self-proclaimed beautiful pear blossom head, sneering, “Why am I here? If I hadn’t come, were you going to stay at this wild man’s house forever?”
“What are you talking about, you crazy woman? Who’s the wild man? Get your daughter and get out!”
Xia Jingyang usually spent his time at school or at the company. He came home this weekend just to enjoy some family warmth.
Now, he was being harassed by this pair of neurotics early in the morning, and they were even swearing.
Lin Meiru put her hands on her hips, “You’ve stolen my daughter and you’re still talking back? Look at your dumpling shop, it’s full of cheapness. I’m telling you, you’ll never marry my daughter.”
“Mom!” Zhang Yating’s face flushed red, “Mom, it’s me chasing Jingyang. Jingyang doesn’t like me at all.”
“What?”
Lin Meiru looked disbelieving, “Then why are you being so pathetic? Everyone wants to marry into a wealthy family, and you’re here digging up wild vegetables?”
“What’s all the noise in my house?”
Xu Xiufen and Xia Nanxi came out of the kitchen.
