Chapter 6: Third Brother
Xia Nanxi raised her eyes, “He said he’ll come to formally visit on Saturday when my grandfather turns eighty. You should give him time to prepare, and besides, I think he’s quite busy with work.”
Xu Xiufen finally breathed a sigh of relief, but her curiosity was piqued.
“What does he do?”
Xia Nanxi thought for a moment, “He wears suits and ties, so he must be an insurance salesman or a real estate agent, definitely a sales person.”
“Sales are good, sales generally earn more than working in a factory and tightening screws.”
Xu Xiufen had figured it out over the past few days. Her daughter’s husband was a country boy, she didn’t expect him to make a fortune, just to be ambitious, kind, and love her daughter.
Suddenly she thought of something, “What does he look like?”
Speaking of Zhan Chengyan’s appearance, Xia Nanxi clicked her tongue twice.
“Tall and slender, with a stunning face, just a bit aloof.”
Xu Xiufen scoffed, “Look at you, stunning face, you’re just smitten!”
“No, no, no, Mom, I’m telling you, he’s really handsome, even more handsome than the top male star you’re always obsessed with. You’ll see when you meet him.”
Xia Changyuan smiled from the side, handed her a bowl of congee, “If he can’t make my daughter financially free, at least he can be good-looking and win her heart.”
At least this marriage wasn’t completely bad.
Xia Nanxi laughed, “Yeah, just for his stunning looks, I’m willing to support him!”
Xu Xiufen poked her forehead, “You really inherited my good tradition, letting your looks dictate your values. Are you still buying that house?”
Xia Nanxi finished her congee in one gulp, “No, I’m only 20, I don’t want to live with him so early. What if I accidentally get a child, won’t you two have to help me raise it? Let’s talk about it in a couple of years. I’m going back to my room for a nap.”
Without giving her parents a chance to speak, Xia Nanxi quickly went upstairs.
The area they lived in was called Yangchang Lake, although they had urban hukou, it hadn’t been demolished yet.
So every household had self-built two-story buildings.
Xia Nanxi’s house had a dumpling shop on the first floor and a large bedroom for her parents, while the second floor had four bedrooms and a living room for her and her three brothers.
Of course, her eldest and second brothers had moved out, only coming back on weekends.
Xia Nanxi’s room was the south-facing master bedroom, with a separate bathroom and a large balcony of about ten square meters.
Her father had installed a swing frame, and her mother had planted flowers and plants there. Sitting on the balcony, she could see the bustling street below and the lake in the distance.
The interior decoration and bed linens were all in soft, light colors.
The wind blew, the gauze curtains danced gently, dreamy and warm.
Xia Nanxi hugged her big goose plush toy and lay down on the bed, feeling incredibly comfortable.
She slept until four in the afternoon, just finished washing her face when she heard a knock on the door.
She opened the door to see a sunny and handsome guy dressed fashionably.
“Third Brother, why are you back so early today?”
Her third brother, Xia Jingyang, was 22 years old, the top scorer in the city’s college entrance exam that year, and now a second-year graduate student at Huada University.
Following the normal path of life, he should have become a scholar or a scientist, but he fell in love with media.
He took classes in the morning, filmed short videos in the afternoon, live-streamed at night, and even secretly started a live-streaming company behind his family’s back.
But Xia Nanxi didn’t object, she felt that everyone had their own aspirations, as long as they lived happily.
Xia Jingyang walked in and put all the bags he was carrying on her bed.
“Aren’t you going to the company tomorrow? I bought you a few outfits and jewelry, try them on. If they don’t fit, go return them yourself, I have something to do, so I’m leaving.”
“Oh, okay!”
Xia Nanxi opened the bags and saw a sexy bodycon dress, a flamboyant fishtail dress, a grand princess dress, and a Cartier bracelet and necklace.
The small white bag was actually a Hermes!
Xia Nanxi twitched her lips, these things must cost hundreds of thousands!
Thinking about how her mother had said she wanted her third brother to become a son-in-law this morning, she couldn’t help but laugh. If her mother knew her third brother was so rich, she would be shocked.
The bag, bracelet, and necklace were all quite nice, but the three outfits weren’t suitable for Xia Nanxi. She tidied up and planned to return them after reporting to the company tomorrow.
