The early spring sky was like crumpled blue velvet, dotted with wisps of cloud.
The wind blowing in from the window carried the earthy sweetness of the soil.
A young man with light brown hair sat behind a large desk.
Sunlight streamed through the windowpane, illuminating his hands with a soft glow, his veins faintly visible beneath his fair skin, gently rising and falling with his movements. Light and shadow danced between his fingers, slipping into the loosely wrapped leather cord around his wrist.
His long fingers lightly pressed against the edge of the drawing tablet, the stylus moving across the dark screen, sketching smooth, rounded lines in the painting software.
A golden ID in the upper left corner pulsed with light. LU’s live stream was split in two: on the left, his right hand holding the stylus; on the right, the painting software interface.
A lifelike kitten with wide, round eyes gradually appeared on the software’s canvas. One of its pointed ears drooped slightly, its long tail curled as it yawned beneath a crabapple tree.
Although the stream had only been live for a short time, the number of viewers was steadily increasing, and the barrage of comments was lively.
[Good morning, wife! Are you drawing a kitten today?]
[I understand, it’s spring after all, the cat downstairs from your wife’s place is probably going wild again hahaha]
[Newbie reporting in, is this the Makabaka livestream? I think I’ve wandered in from the wrong place]
[Ahhh, it’s a mackerel tabby! So handsome!]
[To be fair, I always feel like there’s no way your canvas would ever have just a cute cat (leaning back)]
Before this comment disappeared, the stylus lifted, and the streamer’s long, nimble, and clearly articulated fingers moved the pen to the side.
[Wow, wife’s hands are so pretty, prprprpr!]
[On the left, wife’s hand, on the right, a cute cat…]
The stylus created a new layer, adjusting the transparency. The fingers holding the stylus tightened their grip, and with a speed several times faster than drawing the cat, they quickly sketched the muscular lines of a mature man, then added a drooping cat ear and a curled cat tail with a lingering touch.
[…On the right is a man in a suit with cat ears]
[Hahahahaha, it’s definitely the Makabaka livestream hahaha]
[Spring has arrived, the cat-eared man under the crabapple tree has awakened (dog head)]
[The vibe is right! It’s right!]
[As expected, I knew there were no cute kittens under wife’s hands!]
The young man chuckled at the teasing comments. Lu Xi, the live streamer who only showed his hands, lightly shook his fingers and said leisurely, “Why aren’t there any kittens?”
“This is called, spring scenery has no price, kitten~ melts in your mouth~”
The barrage was instantly flooded with yellow Makabakas.
Lu Xi wasn’t a full-time streamer; he occasionally streamed while drawing to relax and chat.
His livestream initially was quite serious, and the viewership wasn’t very high.
But Lu Xi streamed mainly to relax. One time, he forgot about the livestream and let loose, drawing suggestive art that almost crashed the stream.
Lu Xi’s suggestive art was like stream-of-consciousness driving; the clothes were all there, but the sexual tension was undeniable. Coupled with Lu Xi’s later “let’s just go for it” live stream style, the streamer “Mr. LU” became famous in the circle overnight.
Fans even created a CP video of Mr. LU and Makabaka: on one side, the livestream showing a spaceship; on the other, a yellow Makabaka clapping. This strangely addictive CP video stayed on Bilibili’s homepage for over half a month before its popularity waned.
After that, Mr. LU’s livestream gained a nickname: Makabaka.
Ignoring Lu Xi’s overly docile features, both his light brown hair and slightly long wolf cut perfectly fit the rebellious and flamboyant stereotype of an artist.
His hair, freshly washed that morning, was now completely dry. The strands hanging over his forehead slightly obscured his vision when he lowered his head, so Lu Xi put down his pen, raised his hand, and casually tied a small bun at the back of his head.
Then he looked up and saw a comment flashing quickly across the screen.
[Wife is so powerful, their real-life counterpart must be incredibly… slurp!]
Lu Xi didn’t feel offended at all; instead, he chuckled softly, leaned back in his chair, and spoke in his uniquely languid yet playful voice: “Nonsense, in the real world, I’m a confirmed single, recently even pressured into blind dates by my mother.”
Speaking of which, Lu Xi suddenly remembered a conversation he had with his mother during dinner half a month ago.
The year he graduated from university, Lu Xi came out to his family. Because he had a very capable older sister who not only didn’t need to inherit the family business but could even surpass it, with his sister and mother’s support, Lu Xi’s coming out was a surprisingly smooth affair.
Lu Xi lived a carefree and happy single life for twenty-six years.
Half a month ago, Lu’s mother, for some unknown reason, started subtly hinting at when Lu Xi would find a partner. After Lu Xi feigned ignorance, his mother went all-out and decided to arrange a blind date for her youngest son.
Lu Xi sighed, knowing he couldn’t avoid this blind date, and wondered how long his ridiculously high standards would delay his mother’s plans.
[Wuwuwu, as expected, modern young people can’t escape blind dates and arranged marriages]
[Wife has drawn so much, do you have an ideal type!]
Ideal type?
Lu Xi raised an eyebrow, a smile appearing on his face, tapping the stylus twice on the desk.
He really did.
“Of course, I have an ideal type.”
“I particularly like the kind who are highly intelligent and refined, wearing a suit and shirt with the top button fastened, metal-rimmed glasses, looking completely non-threatening, like a high-and-mighty flower.”
The barrage fell silent for two seconds, before a dense mass of question marks filled the screen.
Lu Xi continued unhurriedly: “But, under the abstinent gentleman’s formal shirt, there should be explosive, aggressive muscles, with deep eyes suppressing emotional fluctuations… tsk, this kind of outwardly reserved and controlled high-and-mighty flower, inwardly wild and untamed, is the best!”
[What the hell just hit me?]
[It’s pants! Wife, put on some pants!]
[Suit thug, as expected of you, you really know how to eat]
[But isn’t that purely physiological attraction? What if that attraction fades, it’s all over]
“I disagree with that.”
From the start of the stream to now, neither old nor new fans had ever seen the streamer angry. No matter what comments appeared, the streamer was always unhurried, banning overly offensive ones, but engaging with anything discussable.
“What’s wrong with physiological attraction? That kind of attraction is the most lethal.”
“There’s never a lack of conversation with someone you’re physiologically attracted to, how great is that?”
The barrage started spamming question marks again.
A few strands of hair peeked out from the edge of the livestream screen, swaying gently.
The stylus spun a few flourishes between his fingers. Lu Xi lifted the other hand, which had been resting on the armrest of the chair, and propped his cheek, smiling faintly: “Because… whether it’s black or white, in front of someone you’re physiologically attracted to, everything can be turned yellow~”
[Grass (a plant), defeated]
[The 125th attempt to challenge wife, ends in failure]
[Who was foolish enough to argue with wife? It was me! (sunglasses, crying yellow bean face)]
Lu Xi laughed at the lively comments, changing the subject: “Of course, that’s just what I think.”
Lu Xi spread his hands.
“After all, everyone knows, in the real world, how could such a rare and precious person exist?”
Even less so in the blind date market.
So, half a month ago, when faced with his mother’s ultimatum about blind dates, Lu Xi had stated his requirements with a flourish.
