Chapter 4: Trouble on the First Day of Work
Night had fallen, and the bustling city was ablaze with lights. Cars weaved through towering buildings, while crowds surged through the streets, their movements illuminated by dazzling neon signs.
Here, without money, you could only see damp basements and crowded subways.
With money, you could see the glitz and glamour of Beijing, where people partied night after night.
“Tianshangyue” was a famous den of extravagance in Beijing, where ten thousand yuan was spent like a single cent.
Tu Yuan had dined here before, and a single meal cost at least hundreds of thousands.
Being a college student was tough these days.
She had been lying in bed, using her phone to search for jobs. The salary for an intern with no work experience wasn’t even enough to buy a single piece of clothing.
But this place was different.
The cost of living was high, but so were the salaries, and the tips weren’t bad either.
She was responsible for playing the piano, and she would get a commission for every song requested.
“Miss Tu, you’re beautiful, I have high hopes for you!”
Kong Zitong, the head of the lobby, was a powerful middle-aged woman, dressed in designer brands from head to toe. She looked sharp and capable.
Kong Zitong picked out a white, off-the-shoulder fishtail dress and held it up against Tu Yuan. “It’s not just about being beautiful, it’s also because you used to be a customer here. I believe many people will request songs from you tonight.”
That was a bit of a stab.
Tu Yuan took the dress and gave an awkward smile.
“Don’t be afraid, we earn money with our own abilities. The more they request, the more you earn.” Kong Zitong patted her shoulder. “Go change your clothes!”
“Tianshangyue” should be lively tonight.
The former wealthy heiress was playing the piano for survival at “Tianshangyue.”
Half an hour later, Tu Yuan sat in the center of the glittering restaurant, a black piano placed on the white platform.
Tu Yuan knew just by looking that the piano was worth a fortune. The owner of this place was truly rich!
┭┮﹏┭┮
She used to be rich too.
Brother!!!
It wasn’t the fear of rich second-generation kids being spoiled, but the fear of them being ambitious.
What business was he starting?
It wasn’t enough that his startup failed, he also had a family business.
Even the family business was cheated by others.
Her slender, white fingers landed on the black and white keys. Tu Yuan took a deep breath and began to play.
Music allowed her to temporarily forget the pain of bankruptcy.
A smile gradually appeared on her face.
Meanwhile, in a corner of the restaurant, several pairs of eyes were fixed on Tu Yuan’s profile.
“Brothers, am I seeing things? That’s Tu Yuan!”
“Tsk tsk, it’s her. Life is hard, the little missy is playing for a living.”
“Yangzi, you can get revenge for her rejecting you now. Go chase her now, she definitely won’t reject you. Play with her enough, then dump her hard!” Shi Hao pulled out the menu. “Come on, let’s support Ms. Tu tonight, order a few songs and listen.”
Jiang Feiyang across from him stared intently at Tu Yuan on stage, his eyes as if trying to see through her.
Shi Hao heard the song he ordered. “Don’t say it, Miss Tu plays a good tune!”
“Yangzi, it’s so good, are you sure you don’t want to take her home as a goldfinch and enjoy her exclusively?”
“If you don’t go, I will. Although she’s not my type, but I’m a kind-hearted person, I can’t bear to see a beauty in distress.”
Shi Hao sipped his red wine, his playful gaze fixed on Tu Yuan. “What a pure white jasmine flower~”
“Haozi, you can’t touch a friend’s wife!”
“This kind of heroic rescue opportunity should be given to Yangzi, he’s been rejected so many times before, he needs to get his revenge!”
“Right, Yangzi?”
The friends chatted amongst themselves, Jiang Feiyang held his wine glass tightly, a slight smile on his lips. “At least you need to buy a bouquet of flowers before you go, no rush.”
“Right, no rush!”
“Women, you can’t spoil them.”
Tu Yuan had played several songs in a row and her wrists were getting tired.
When she was young, she was often scolded for not being focused and not having enough perseverance when practicing the piano.
But she was weak, and couldn’t persevere in anything for long.
This was already considered a long time.
“Tu Yuan!”
“It’s really you!”
Song Yinxi walked onto the stage step by step, her fingers landed on the piano keys with a snap, interrupting Tu Yuan’s performance.
Tu Yuan looked up. “Miss Song, please don’t interrupt my work.”
Song Yinxi had always been at odds with her since they were young, she didn’t know why.
Maybe beautiful people were just prone to jealousy.
Now that her family was bankrupt, there was no need to be jealous anymore.
If it wasn’t for her brother’s insistence, she would have been living in a basement.
Song Yinxi picked her ears listlessly, “You play so badly, it pollutes my ears. Where is the manager? How do you recruit people? Anybody can sit in this position. When I see her, I lose my mood to eat.”
Jiang Feiyang strode over. “Song Yinxi, you have something wrong with your ears, donate them!”
“What’s it to you, I just think it’s bad.”
Kong Zitong hurried over, gave Tu Yuan a look, and motioned for her to leave.
She smiled and went forward. “Miss Song, I’ll let her go, calm down, I’ll send you a bottle of red wine.”
“Just let her go today, what if I come to eat tomorrow and see her face again?” Song Yinxi crossed her arms. “You have to understand, I’m the customer now, I’m God, she’s just an employee, who’s more important, can you tell?”
Kong Zitong smiled apologetically. “Miss Song, she’s our new employee, if you don’t want to see her, you can sit in our private room, our private rooms have excellent sound insulation, I guarantee you won’t hear the piano outside. If Miss Song insists on not seeing her, you can only buy the store and become the owner, then you can do whatever you want!”
Song Yinxi detected a hint of sarcasm. “What do you mean!”
“Miss Song, don’t get angry, I was just saying, you just listen.” Kong Zitong gestured for her to go.
She stood below, Song Yinxi stood on the stage, she stared at Tu Yuan’s back. “Manager Kong, if you don’t fire her, not only me, but my friends, my relatives, will not come to this place to spend money, how much loss will it cause Tianshangyue, you think about it.”
Sister Tong was a good person, Tu Yuan didn’t want to cause her any trouble.
She could find another job.
“I’m leaving!”
Tu Yuan only said two words and turned to leave.
Kong Zitong suppressed her displeasure and smiled. “Miss Song, would you like to continue dining?”
“Of course!”
After sending her to the private room, Kong Zitong went to find Tu Yuan.
She pushed open the door, Tu Yuan was hanging up her changed clothes.
“Sister Tong, did she continue to make trouble over there?”
“No.”
Kong Zitong sighed. “Those young ladies are all more difficult to please than the next, you too, why take it to heart. Some people won’t come because of you, but some people will come because of you.”
“Sister Tong, I have a glass heart, I can’t take it. If she comes to make trouble every day, I can’t handle it either, it will affect business.” Tu Yuan smiled wryly. “I just have one question, can I get paid today?”
“Yes! As promised, daily settlement.”
Kong Zitong immediately took out her phone and transferred the money.
Tu Yuan received a transfer of 20,000 yuan and happily hugged her. “Thank you, Sister Tong!”
“I’m going to get busy, be safe on your way home.”
These days, being too kind wasn’t a good thing.
What a nice girl!
Kong Zitong felt sorry for her.
After Kong Zitong left, Tu Yuan transferred 19,000 yuan to Tu Yue.
【Tu Yuan: Brother! I earned this, go eat something good!】
Tu Yue didn’t reply, she picked up her bag and pushed open the door.
A tall figure was standing outside, waiting for her.
