Chapter 15: Mutated Ice Spiritual Root? !

With Ning Yue’s addition, the formation quickly took shape.

Ning Yue wiped the sweat from her forehead, hesitantly saying, “Why do I feel like this formation is a bottomless pit? It’s not finished yet.”

Duan Huailin also found it strange. With their combined spiritual energy input, the formation should have been completed by now; it shouldn’t have taken this long.

He began to carefully observe the formation, checking for any mistakes.

Suddenly

Duan Huailin’s pupils constricted.

There was a hole in the southwest corner of the formation!

No wonder it kept getting filled and leaking; it’s no surprise it couldn’t be filled!

He urgently said, “Ning Yue! There’s a hole in the formation behind you!”

Ning Yue turned to look.

Sure enough, she discovered the flaw, which was constantly leaking spiritual energy.

So much spiritual energy wasted!

This shouldn’t be happening. Duan Huailin had been drawing the formation while she observed; there was clearly no such flaw at the beginning.

Ning Yue silently looked at Duan Huailin, who had also noticed the problem.

They both silently turned their gaze to the man who had previously invited Duan Huailin to team up.

The man, upon meeting their gaze, nervously lowered his eyes.

Ah! It was him!!

Ning Yue was furious!

So much spiritual energy! All wasted!!

Duan Huailin took a deep breath. “It’s my fault for being careless and letting him exploit the loophole.”

Ning Yue: “What should we do now?”

Duan Huailin sighed. “I can’t move now; I can’t fix the hole. We can only redraw the formation, but I don’t know if we have enough spiritual energy left.”

After hearing this, Ning Yue lowered her eyes and thought for a moment, estimating the distance between herself and the hole.

She could reach it!

Ning Yue’s eyes lit up, and she suggested, “You don’t need to move; I’ll fix it!”

Duan Huailin paused. He hadn’t ruled out this possibility, but…

“…Normally, everyone fails their first time drawing a formation. It takes dozens of attempts to grasp the techniques, especially for such a difficult formation.”

“…Ah.”

Now even Ning Yue hesitated to act rashly.

Could they only start over?

“…But it’s okay.” A cold, clear voice came.

Ning Yue looked up

Duan Huailin raised his eyebrows and smiled at her, his voice relaxed. “You’ll have to learn to draw formations eventually, so let’s use this as practice.”

Ning Yue’s eyes sparkled: “…”

Duan Huailin reassured her, “Just do it like I did; if we fail, we’ll just redraw it. I can still hold on.”

Ning Yue took a deep breath and freed her other hand.

Water-blue spiritual energy flowed from her fingertips.

It was water-elemental spiritual energy!

Her fingertips trembled, looking strained.

The water-blue spiritual energy suddenly emitted a chill!

It was the same ice-elemental spiritual energy as Duan Huailin’s!

Since the damaged part was part of the attack system, if she used the earth-elemental spiritual energy she had been using, the formation’s effect would be greatly reduced.

So Ning Yue took a slight risk.

She forcibly transformed water-elemental energy into ice-elemental energy, mimicking Duan Huailin’s technique, and with two fingers, drew a line!

The damaged part of the formation was successfully connected!

She let out a breathsuccessfully repaired!

…Duan Huailin witnessed the whole thing and was almost petrified.

He wasn’t sure whether he was more shocked by her succeeding on her first attempt at drawing a formation or by her use of ice-elemental magic.

After a long while, he stammered

“Ning Yue… are you a dual cultivator with mutated ice and earth spiritual roots?”

“That’s not quite right…” Ning Yue smiled. “Mutated spiritual roots are too rare.  I actually have a water spiritual root; I just forcibly condensed it into ice-elemental spiritual energy.”

To be honest, Duan Huailin didn’t quite understand.

But he had already erased the image of Ning Yue as weak, pitiful, and needing protection from his mind.

After patching the hole, the formation quickly formed.

Both offensively and defensively, the formation was flawless.

Ning Yue stood beside Duan Huailin, looking coldly at the man who had deliberately sabotaged their formation.

The man met Ning Yue’s gaze.

His whole body trembled

He had been observing Ning Yue and Duan Huailin, and naturally saw Ning Yue using ice-elemental magic and repairing the formation.

He was filled with infinite regret! He shouldn’t have deliberately damaged it! He never imagined Ning Yue was such a powerful person!

But he had already been targeted, so he might as well try his luck!

Soonthe other four teams had also completed their formations.

The battle was about to begin!

Ning Yue slowly walked to the man, arms crossed, with a smirk playing on her lips.

The man avoided her gaze, hiding behind his partner.

His partner was still confused.

“What’s wrong?”

Ning Yue smirked. “Nothing, just a little embarrassed. We’re going to take out your team first.”

“Huh?” The partner was puzzled and turned to the man. “Xu Feng, what’s going on?”

Xu Feng was somewhat exasperated and glared at Ning Yue angrily.

“What’s going on? We’re just here to cause trouble; it’s not certain who will defeat whom!”

His partner, still clueless, set up their formation and prepared to attack.

“Oh my,” Ning Yue clapped for him. “So shameless. Don’t you have a clear understanding of your own abilities? You really think you were subtle?”

Xu Feng was still feigning ignorance, gritting his teeth. “I don’t know what you’re talking about?”

“Fine,” Ning Yue waved her hand. “I don’t want to waste my breath on you.”

Ning Yue started setting up her formation. “Let’s take you out first.”

“Wait…” Duan Huailin suddenly reached out to stop Ning Yue, interjecting.

Ning Yue looked at him questioningly.

“I’ll handle this,” Duan Huailin gave Ning Yue a gentle look, then turned his face expressionlessly.

Ice transformed into blades, forming from all sides of the formation, all pointed at Xu Feng and his partner.

Xu Feng gritted his teeth and shouted at his partner. “What are you waiting for! Defend!”

His partner snapped back to reality and quickly deployed a protective barrier

He used fire-elemental spiritual energy, which was perfectly counter to Duan Huailin’s attribute.

Duan Huailin’s expression was unpleasant.

Currently, everyone’s cultivation was suppressed to the same level; otherwise, with such a poor formation and spiritual energy, he couldn’t be stopped!

Although he was temporarily blocked, breaking through was just a matter of time.

Ning Yue clicked her tongue and looked at Xu Feng, who was looking smug.

“Feeling pretty powerful, huh?  You actually managed to block Duan Huailin.”

Xu Feng didn’t say anything, but his expression was very proud. “Humph, at the same level, even Duan Huailin can’t get any advantage over me. I’ve studied this formation for so long; there’s no way you can break it.”

“However…” Xu Feng paused, looking triumphantly at the two. “Beg me now, and I’ll reluctantly agree to let you break my formation last.”

Ning Yue incredulously dug her ears. “What did he say? Is my hearing failing?”

Duan Huailin saw her expression and chuckled, not taking Xu Feng seriously.

“He’s probably dreaming.”

Xu Feng’s face turned red, and he raised his hand to infuse spiritual energy to attack.

“In that case, I won’t hold back!”

Pale green vines burst from the ground in the formation, swiftly attacking Ning Yue’s position.

“Oh,” Ning Yue raised an eyebrow. “Wood element?”

“Humph,” Xu Feng sneered, looking down at Ning Yue and Duan Huailin contemptuously.

“A mutated ice spiritual root, and another with a mutated ice and earth spiritual root, so what? Now that we’re at the same level, neither of you can counter me. Kneel down and surrender, and I’ll let you off.”
