After Being Cheated On, I Married a Billionaire Chapter 3

Chapter 3: The Feeling of Being Taken Care of After Marriage

Half an hour later

Mo Qian and Qiao Lan walked out of the Civil Affairs Bureau, one behind the other.

Qiao Lan held up the marriage certificate. Sunlight pierced through the leaves, casting mottled shadows on the red book. Her bright, beautiful eyes were momentarily dazed and helpless.

She and Chu Zhiheng were busy with work, so they agreed to get their marriage certificate the day after the wedding. Unexpectedly, she ended up getting married to a stranger.

She didn’t know if she would regret it in the future, but it was clear there was no turning back.

Qiao Lan put away her melancholy and asked with concern, “Do you have a place to stay?”

Mo Qian’s properties were scattered across the globe, but looking at Qiao Lan’s bright, beautiful eyes, he blurted out, “No.”

Qiao Lan took out a room card from her bag and handed it to Mo Qian.

“This is the room I usually stay in. You can rest there for now.”

He had been delayed for so long that the bloodstains on his chest had spread over half of his torso.

Qiao Lan had no feelings for this flash-married husband, but he was useful.

He didn’t even have a place to stay, so he certainly didn’t have any money.

Qiao Lan thought for a moment and handed the man another bank card. “This card has a spending limit of 200,000. Take it and use it first. If you run out, ask me for more.”

Mo Qian looked at the card held by the woman’s slender white fingers, his tall and straight body stiffened, his black eyes churning with unknown emotions.

Since he could remember, no one had ever given him money voluntarily, not even his nominal father.

Seeing that the man was hesitant to take it, Qiao Lan raised her eyebrows in displeasure. “Is it not enough?”

The reason she gave him this card was because he was covered in wounds and homeless, and she felt a little pity for him.

If he was greedy, she wouldn’t tolerate it.

“No.”

Mo Qian took the two cards, his black eyes scanning the embroidered wedding dress Qiao Lan was wearing. “Don’t you need my help?”

He hadn’t deliberately avoided Qiao Lan and Old Master Qiao’s phone calls, and seeing her embroidered wedding dress, he could basically guess what had happened to her.

The eldest daughter of the Qiao family, also the CEO of Qiao Corporation.

She was now his nominal little wife, so he had to go see her, just in case she was bullied.

“No.” Qiao Lan opened the car door and got in without looking back. “I’ll contact you when I need you.”

Mo Qian watched Qiao Lan’s car disappear from sight, lowered his head and glanced at the marriage certificate and the two cards in his hand, a slight upward curve forming involuntarily at the corners of his lips.

The feeling of being taken care of after marriage…

It seemed pretty good.

The phone in his pocket vibrated. Mo Qian took it out and answered.

“Mr. Mo, everything here is done. Where are you? I’ll come pick you up.”

Thinking of what had just happened, the large hand holding the phone tightened, his black eyes becoming even more profound and dark. He gave his location.

Twenty minutes later, a taxi stopped in front of him.

The window rolled down, revealing the assistant’s anxious face. “Mr. Mo, our car was being followed, so I found this car.”

Mo Qian looked at the taxi, which was covered in mud, his brow furrowed, his thin lips pressed into a straight line.

This was the first time in his life that someone had invited him to take a taxi, and it was so dirty.

“Are you trying to get a bigger year-end bonus?”

The assistant’s heart skipped a beat, and he hurriedly explained, “Mr. Mo, although this car may not look good, it has been modified inside. It’s very clean and tidy, and the Mo family will definitely not suspect anything.”

Who would have thought that Mo Qian, who was domineering, powerful, and had a cleanliness fetish, would take a taxi?

Mo Qian glanced at the time on his phone and got into the taxi.

The assistant breathed a sigh of relief and handed Mo Qian the clothes, shoes, and accessories he had prepared in advance. “Mr. Mo, the doctor is waiting for you at the hotel.”

“No hurry, let’s go to the Qiao family first.”

The assistant was puzzled. “Why go to the Qiao family?”

There weren’t many people with the surname Qiao in H City, and even fewer could be considered part of the elite. The only Qiao family that could be considered top-notch wasn’t worthy of Mo Qian’s personal visit.

Mo Qian closed his eyes, his large hand resting on the marriage certificate in his pocket.

Although Qiao Lan hadn’t revealed her identity, he had already guessed her identity based on her name and the embroidered wedding dress she was wearing.

The eldest daughter of the Qiao family, also the CEO of Qiao Corporation.

She was now his nominal little wife, so he had to go see her, just in case she was bullied.

Qiao Family

When Qiao Lan arrived, Chu Zhiheng and Qiao Yue were standing in front of Old Master Qiao with their heads down, clearly having been reprimanded.

Old Master Qiao saw Qiao Lan and a smile appeared on his grim face. “Lanlan, you’re back.”

Qiao Lan replied emotionlessly, “Mm.”

Old Master Qiao ordered, “Qiao Yue, apologize to your sister.”

Qiao Yue was unwilling. “I won’t…”

Old Master Qiao threatened in a low voice, “If you don’t apologize, I will withdraw all the resources I’ve invested in you.”

He hit her where it hurt.

Qiao Yue was not good at academics and had no business acumen. After graduating from a third-rate university, she debuted as an actress, but unfortunately, her acting skills were not good. After a few flops, no crew was willing to cast her, and even her regular appearances on several variety shows and endorsements were all thanks to the Qiao family’s investment.

She enjoyed the halo of being a star and couldn’t lose it!

Qiao Yue looked at her toes, reluctantly saying, “I’m sorry.”

Qiao Lan sneered and asked, “What did you do to offend the floor?”

“Qiao Lan, you’re being a bit too…”

“Speak up, be sincere!”

Qiao Yue’s whining voice was interrupted by Old Master Qiao’s furious roar, which startled her. She dared not speak, but her face was filled with resentment and humiliation as she apologized loudly, “Qiao Lan, I’m sorry, okay?”

Qiao Lan remained calm. “No.”

“Qiao Lan, I’ve apologized to you. Can’t you forgive me?”

“Not all apologies deserve forgiveness. Even if you kneel down, I won’t forgive you!”

She had done such a disgusting thing, and she thought a casual apology would earn her forgiveness? Did she think she had no temper?

Qiao Yue was so angry that her eyes were red, and a few teardrops hung on her delicate face, making her look pitiful.

Qiao Lan didn’t even bother to look at her.

She had long grown tired of her usual tricks.

Old Qiao spoke at the right time: “Lanlan, I have made it clear that what happened today was planned by that evil creature Qiao Yue. It has nothing to do with Zhiheng. Don’t take your anger out on him.”

No matter how reckless Chu Zhiheng was, he wouldn’t do something like this on their wedding day.

Qiao Lan knew this, but if Chu Zhiheng was a decent man, he wouldn’t have fallen for Qiao Yue’s tricks.

Chu Zhiheng apologized sincerely. “Lanlan, I’m sorry. Can you forgive me?”

Qiao Lan sneered and asked instead, “Chu Zhiheng, did you really not know that the person you were in bed with was Qiao Yue?”

Chu Zhiheng denied it without hesitation. “I didn’t know. I thought it was you.”

Qiao Yue suddenly raised her head, her eyes filled with disbelief.

Although she had used her tricks, Chu Zhiheng knew it was her.

“Brother Zhiheng…”

Chu Zhiheng didn’t look at Qiao Yue. After weighing the pros and cons, he still wanted to salvage his marriage to Qiao Lan.

Qiao Lan felt a wave of nausea in her stomach, her eyes becoming sharp. “Oh? Then how come I heard you calling out the name ‘Yueyue’ in bed, not ‘Lanlan’?”

Chu Zhiheng’s tall and straight body suddenly stiffened.

He hadn’t expected that he would call out Qiao Yue’s name in a moment of passion, and he hadn’t expected to be caught by Qiao Lan.

“Lanlan, I…”

Chu Zhiheng wanted to explain, but Qiao Lan interrupted him. “Even if it wasn’t your intention at the beginning, you were able to call out Qiao Yue’s name, which means you must have been thinking about her. The scene of you being caught in the act was just an early occurrence.”

Qiao Lan continued in a disappointed tone. “You dare to do it but not to admit it. You don’t even have the courage to admit it. I really misjudged you.”

Chu Zhiheng was a scumbag, but he was also cowardly.

The facts were right in front of him, and Chu Zhiheng was speechless.

Old Master Qiao didn’t know about this inside story. He frowned and asked in a low voice, “Lanlan, is there no room for reconciliation between you and Zhiheng?”

“No.”

Old Master Qiao’s face became heavy. “What if Grandpa begs you to forgive him?”

Old Master Qiao rarely begged others. In the 24 years she had lived in the Qiao family, he had only begged her once when the Han Corporation was on the verge of bankruptcy.

This was the second time, but this was a matter of principle.

Qiao Lan pursed her red lips, not speaking, and the living room fell into a deathly silence.

The sudden ringing of the phone broke the stalemate.

The call was from Qiao Zhenyuan. The butler handed the phone to Old Master Qiao.

“Dad, it’s not good. The video of Zhiheng and Yueyue together was played at the wedding ceremony…”

Qiao Zhenyuan spoke vaguely, but he knew the video must be explosive.

To release such a video on their wedding day would ruin both Qiao Yue and the Qiao family.

Old Master Qiao suddenly felt dizzy, his body swayed and he almost fell. Fortunately, the butler caught him in time and gave him a quick-acting heart pill. His agitated emotions gradually calmed down.

He felt as if he had been drained of all his strength. “Lanlan, did you do this?”
