Chapter 18: Afraid I’ll Kiss You
Qin Huan thought to herself, she had guessed right.
Slightly furrowing her brows, she said, “Okay, but I have conditions.”
Jiang Jingchu tilted his head and lit a cigarette. “Thinking of designing a wedding room for me again?”
Qin Huan shook her head, her nose wrinkling slightly. “I never actively wanted to design a wedding room for you two. It’s the company’s decision; I’m just following orders.”
After hearing this, Jiang Jingchu felt a little relieved. At least it proved that Qin Huan wasn’t completely indifferent to the fact that the client was her ex boyfriend, whom she had dated for three years.
He glanced at her and naturally extinguished the cigarette he had just lit without taking a puff. “So it’s for your company?”
Qin Huan hummed in response. Back in the room, she knew she had a problem but was too embarrassed to mention it to Jiang Jingchu, fearing another rejection. Now it was different; she had leverage, and it was necessary to fight for the company.
“To be fair, our company’s designs are renowned both domestically and internationally. Song Yali herself has won many design awards; we won’t disappoint you.”
Jiang Jingchu pondered for a moment. “And you?”
Qin Huan didn’t understand what Jiang Jingchu meant.
Jiang Jingchu clicked his tongue. “You just joined the company. If you lose this Ji Jingya project, you’ll face considerable trouble later, won’t you?”
She hadn’t expected Jiang Jingchu to be aware of this. Indeed, if she lost Ji Jingya’s project, she would face reconsideration from her superiors, scornful gossip from colleagues, and even Song Yali’s schadenfreude…
“I don’t care,” Qin Huan said. “I’ve never cared about anyone’s opinion.” Compared to that, she couldn’t bear the thought of racking her brains designing a love nest for her ex-boyfriend every day.
Jiang Jingchu pondered for a moment. “Alright, deal.”
Gao Fei had already arrived at the cable car station after receiving Jiang Jingchu’s message.
When he saw the boss and Qin Huan getting off the car together, a flash of surprise crossed his eyes, but it was fleeting. Then he went to greet them.
“Mr. Jiang, Mr. Liu and his wife have also arrived at the cable car station.”
Jiang Jingchu nodded indifferently. “I know, we made an appointment to come together.”
Gao Fei was suspicious. “You’ve already met Mr. Liu? Wasn’t it supposed to be after they finished watching the meteor shower?”
Jiang Jingchu hummed, naturally taking Qin Huan’s uninjured hand. “We met by chance.”
Qin Huan and Gao Fei both looked down at their intertwined hands.
Gao Fei: ?
Qin Huan: ??
After realizing what happened, Qin Huan struggled. “What are you doing?”
Jiang Jingchu didn’t look at her, pulling her forward. “Have you ever seen a couple walking separately?”
Qin Huan was speechless. Sure enough, she saw couples waiting for the cable car holding hands, some even like Siamese twins, one practically hanging on the other.
Jiang Jingchu was tall and had long legs, and he walked quickly. Qin Huan, being pulled along, gradually couldn’t keep up. She tugged her fingers in his palm. “Slow down, or let go and let me walk myself.”
Jiang Jingchu glanced at her sideways.
“Shorty.”
Qin Huan looked up at him indignantly. “Who’s short? I’m 1.68 meters tall; that’s pretty good, right?”
Jiang Jingchu scoffed disdainfully, but his pace unconsciously slowed down. “You think 1.68 meters is good? You haven’t seen tall people.”
Qin Huan snorted angrily. “Ji Jingya isn’t as tall as me, and I didn’t see you dislike her for it.”
Jiang Jingchu…
Gao Fei kept a few steps behind them.
Trying his best to avoid seeing and hearing anything inappropriate.
Cheng Shuyun looked at the handsome couple walking towards them in the distance and felt that they were a perfect match from the bottom of her heart.
“You said that person is Jiang Jingchu, the general manager of Jiang Group?”
Liu Qi nodded. “The one who officially announced his relationship with Ji’s daughter a few months ago. You’ve seen that newspaper.”
Cheng Shuyun had a vague impression, but it wasn’t very deep.
“Could it be that they’re not a couple at all, but pretending? Because Mr. Jiang knows that Miss Qin saved me, he temporarily brought her along to curry favor with you and get you to cooperate with him?”
Liu Qi smiled, rubbing Cheng Shuyun’s hand in his palm. “It’s not that serious. Although Mr. Jiang is young, he was able to take over the entire Jiang Group in just three or five years. His ability and skill are evident.
I intentionally spread the news that I was coming here to test Jiang’s sincerity. Mr. Jiang naturally understands this as well as I do. Since he’s willing to come in person, we both have a good idea of what’s going on.”
Cheng Shuyun wasn’t interested in business matters at all. She only grasped a key point from her husband’s words.
Jiang Jingchu has a fiancée, and his relationship with Qin Huan isn’t fake, so there’s only one answer left Qin Huan might be a third party interfering in someone else’s relationship.
As soon as this thought popped into her head, Cheng Shuyun shook her head.
“Impossible, Miss Qin is beautiful and has a good character. How could she do such a thing!”
Liu Qi shook his head. “Nothing is impossible. He’s the son of the Jiang family, the future heir of Jiang Group, with a good family background and good looks. Even if he’s engaged, or even married, how many women are waiting to line up?”
“Unlike me, nobody wants me except you.”
Cheng Shuyun was used to her husband’s daily expressions of love. Hearing this, she just glared at him playfully.
“I don’t care; anyway, I’ve decided to be friends with Miss Qin, and you’re not allowed to slight her!”
As they spoke, Jiang Jingchu and Qin Huan had already reached Liu Qi and his wife.
They boarded the cable car under the arrangement of a staff member.
The cable car offered a view of the entire resort’s night scene.
Below, the lights were brilliant, and the outlines of the buildings were outlined by the lights, making them appear taller and more majestic.
The distant mountains were faintly visible in the night, like an ink painting.
In the sky, stars were evenly scattered overhead, echoing the people on the mountaintop using their phones for illumination.
A gust of wind brought a slight coolness and the fresh scent of grass.
Qin Huan hadn’t enjoyed nature like this in a long time.
For the past five years, the two things she had done the most were work and taking care of Yi Yi.
Thinking of Yi Yi, Qin Huan’s eyes softened. At this time, she should have finished lunch and be taking a nap.
In their last video call, Ruiya told her that since Wen Li had visited Yi Yi, she had stopped constantly asking to see her mother and had become much more well behaved, eating on time and studying diligently.
Qin Huan was relieved to hear this. She had almost found a school for Yi Yi and would pick her up as soon as the summer vacation started.
Under the night sky, Qin Huan was bathed in a dreamy glow.
Jiang Jingchu silently watched the woman beside him.
Her side profile was smooth and three-dimensional. Her bright eyes looked faintly into the distance, thinking of something, filled with tenderness.
Jiang Jingchu suddenly felt a little flustered, feeling that Qin Huan at this moment was particularly distant from him, making him want to grab her.
His fingers uncontrollably reached towards Qin Huan’s side face.
Qin Huan seemed to sense something and turned her head, their four dark eyes meeting in the hazy night.
At this moment, the air seemed to stand still.
Looking at these eyes, so similar to Yi Yi’s, Qin Huan was momentarily lost in thought, watching as Jiang Jingchu leaned in, close enough to feel his breath on her face.
Suddenly, a cheer erupted from the crowd nearby.
“Look, the meteor shower has started!”
Qin Huan instantly came to her senses and cautiously stepped back slightly.
Jiang Jingchu’s hand, frozen mid air, trembled slightly, then lifted, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
“What are you afraid of? Thought I was going to kiss you?”
Qin Huan’s face instantly flushed, and she awkwardly turned her head away.
“No one on the cable car should be able to see us.”
Meaning, don’t look for another excuse to take advantage of me.
Jiang Jingchu raised an eyebrow, gesturing towards Cheng Shuyun, who was looking at them.
“Since we’re pretending, let’s pretend better.”
